The Truth Isn't Always Easy to Tell Part 2
The team laughed and joked as the munched on Chef Remi's famous Ratatouille. Meanwhile, Ulma shook her head as Matt and Matthew competed to see who could balance a spoon on their nose the longest.
The boy's unintentional distraction left Ulma unaware of the person walking up behind her. It wasn't until a pair of strong arms wrapped her in a hug that her attention was brought back into focus.
"I figured I find everyone here. You all left before I made it out of the stands."
"Hey Uncle Gil." Ulma smiled, turning around to return the hug.
He grinned, giving her another squeeze before slipping into the empty chair beside her. "You guys played great tonight. But aren't you missing a few teammates?"
Uma nodded. "Yeah, Trevor just texted saying he and Connor were staying back at the dorms. I think Connor and his dad must have had an argument after the fight."
"I see." Gil sighed, running a hand through his hair. He had his fair share of run ins with Chad Charming and needless to say, none of them were pleasant. "I can't imagine what they would argue over though, Connor played exceptionally well tonight. Honestly, this was the best I've seen him play."
Ulma couldn't help but smile. Her Uncle Gil had attended every single one of her matches since she started playing. Away or at home, regardless if he had been working all day or night, he never missed seeing her play. The same went for the Henry and Holden's Tourney games in the fall.
With her dad spontaneously being deployed for long periods of time and her mother regularly attending meetings at as the Co-Advisor of the Isle along with her Aunt Evie, he was the one constant person she could always count on in her life.
"Connor just wants his dad to be proud of him, but nothing he does is ever good enough for King Chad. I just don't get it sometimes." Ulma admitted, looking up to meet his gaze.
Gil smirked as he wrapped an arm around her shoulders before lowering his voice as if he was telling her a secret. "I'm gonna tell you something that you Aunt Evie and Uncle Doug told me a long time ago. When it comes to Chad, there's not a lot of there there."
She snorted, causing a few of her team members to glance over in confusion as she tried to hold back her laughter. "I guess....*snort*....I guess he hasn't changed that much over the years huh?"
"Nope." Gil drawled out, popping the 'p'. "Now let's eat, I think the Ratatouille is calling my name!"
"Save some for me!" Ulma laughed as Gil spooned some Ratatouille onto both of their plates.
It wasn't long before all the food had been eaten and everyone started packing up to go home. As everyone gathered around, Ulma held out her hand. "Alright guys, everybody hand over their five dollars. Together we should have enough for the meal and the tip."
"Hold up guys." Gil called out as he met them at the door. "You can put the money away, I already took care of everything earlier."
Ulma stared at her godfather with wide eyes. "Uncle Gil, you didn't have to do that! We always pay for ourselves."
He shrugged, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. "You're right, I didn't have to but I wanted to. Take it as a bonus reward for the awesome match you guys had today."
The team cheered as they put their money away before heading out the door. Everyone walked back to Auradon Prep and Ulma said her good nights to the team before continuing on her way home, Gil by her side.
"You don't have to walk me home, you know." Ulma blurted out, breaking the silence between them.
Gil nodded, glancing over at Ulma as he shoved his hands in his pockets. "I know I don't, but it makes me feel better getting to see you make it home safely."
"You always say that, but when was the last time something really bad ever happened around here? I could always just call you." Ulma reasoned.
Gil sighed as they came to stop in front of the house. He glanced over and noticed Ulma was looking at him with curious eyes, waiting for his response.
"Ulma," he began. "You know your Aunt Quinn and I have been having a hard time over the last few years right?"
Ulma nodded, her mother had discussed the miscarriages with her in past. She knew they had been trying for a child for a long time. "Yeah of course, but what does that have to do with walking me home?"
Gil flashed her a small smile in response. "I may not have any children of my own, but I have you and your brothers. Ulma, I--"
She cut him off by pulling him into a hug, burying her face in his chest. "You don't have to say it Uncle Gil." She said softly. "I get it now."
Gil pulled her close and despite her words, finished his statement. "I think of you as my own."
He pressed a kiss to the top of her head before breaking the embrace. "Alright, you should get inside before your mom begins to worry. I'll see you at your next match okay?"
Ulma nodded before heading towards the house. She only made it a few steps before turning back around. "Do you want to come in and see Uncle Hadie and Aunt Ginny? You could meet baby Hayley too."
"Not tonight." He replied, flashing her an encouraging smile. However, Ulma could see the sadness in his eyes. "Maybe I'll stop by another day before they leave. I'm not quite ready yet, you know?"
Ulma nodded in understanding. "I get it. Good night Uncle Gil, I love you."
His smile grew at her words. "Night Ulma, I love you too."
With a final wave Ulma made her way into the house, dropping her backpack by the door. She found everyone once again gathered in the living room after following the sound of their voices.
"Ulma!" Uma smiled. "Come join us and tell us how the R.O.A.R. match went. I'm sorry none of us could make it. My meeting ran long and the noise would have been too much for Hayley."
Ulma shrugged as she sat on the couch. "I get it mom, it's okay. You've made it to most of my matches, so I can't complain. Besides Uncle Gil was there as always, and what's better than a one man cheering section?"
Hadie and Ginny's interest peaked at the meantion of Gil. They were curious to how their old friend was doing.
"You should have asked him to stop in. It would have been nice to catch up." Hadie replied.
"I tried." Ulma admitted. "But he said he wasn't ready. I think knowing Hayley was here was too much for him."
Ginny nodded in understanding. "I don't blame him, losing a child is very difficult. Hadie and I had a miscarriage before conceiving Hayley. We were both devastated. I can only imagine what Gil and Quinn must be feeling after losing so many."
"Their time will come." Uma assured them. "It just takes some people longer than others."
"True." Hadie admitted. "But think about it. We have Hayley, you have 3 kids, Mal and Ben have 2, Carlos and Jane have 1, Jay and Lonnie have 2, Evie and Doug are expecting their 7th, and even Tony and Gus, his brothers, each have a kid. Gil and Quinn are the only ones who haven't started a family, and they were the first ones to start trying. You don't count cause Ulma was an accident."
"Hey!" Ulma pouted as her brothers snickered in amusement.
"Oh honey, relax. You were an accident but you are the best accident your father and I could have had. I love you and I wouldn't trade you for anything." Uma assured her daughter before turning to her sons. "And boys, I wouldn't laugh too hard because you weren't planned either."
The room filled with laughter as the boys snickering turned into gasps of disbelief.
"We were an accident too?" Henry asked in surprise.
Ulma nodded. "I told you that a weekend getaway was how I ended up with you two. Apparently mom and dad were very busy that weekend."
"Ulma! Gross!" The boys cried, their faces contorted in disgust.
The adults laughed as Ulma shook her head. "Come on boys, really? You've taken Mama Odie's health class so you know how babies are made. How is that woman still teaching anyway? She's ancient!"
Uma chuckled at her sons disgusted faces and her daughter's words. "Well, I think she just has some good voodoo on her side."
"Good voodoo?" Ulma asked raising an eyebrow. "Mom I think you meant good juju."
Uma shook her head, flashing her daughter a knowing smile. "No, I meant exactly what I said. Now, I think it's time we all got to bed."
"I think that sounds like a good idea." Ginny said, nodding in agreement as she stood up from her spot on the couch. She glanced down and smiled at Hayley who was asleep in her arms. "This little lady will have us up in a couple hours anyway. Better get some sleep while we can."
Everyone nodded and went about saying their good nights before heading to their rooms. Once pajamas were on and teeth were brushed, everyone settled down for the night.
🔥
The streets of the Isle were eerily silent as Ulma trudged along. After waiting for everyone to fall asleep she had once again snuck off to the Isle. She needed to see Hayden again.
The only problem was she had no idea where or how to find him. Ulma checked around her grandmother's shop first, seeing as that's where they first met. However, he was no where to be found.
Now, she was wandering through the market. Closed stands sat all around her, their wares safely hidden away until morning.
The market let to an old castle-like building. It towered above her as she walked through the square and into a nearby alley.
Ulma felt her heart begin to sink with every step. She'd been searching for almost an hour now with no success, at this rate she'd have to leave before she ever got to see him.
Ulma saw noticed an overturned crate nearby and decided to sit down. She needed to gather her thoughts and decide how to proceed with her search.
She plopped down on the crate only to jump up in surprise when a yelp came from underneath it.
Ulma drew her sword and slowly approached the crate. She grabbed the bottom and counted to three before lifting it up.
Peering under the crate she came face to face with two of the strangest creatures she had ever seen.
"Don't kill us!" The red one screamed.
"We are worms! Worthless worms!" The blue one screeched, cowering behind the red one in terror.
Ulma moved the crate away and stared at the two creatures curiously. "What are you?"
The two creatures didn't respond as they continued to grovel and weep, clinging to eachother for dear life.
Ulma sheathed her sword before digging around in her backpack, pulling out a chocolate bar she stashed inside. She broke off a couple pieces and held them out towards the two creatures. "It's okay little guys, I won't hurt you. Are you hungry? I have chocolate."
The two creatures perked up at the meantion of food. "Chocolate?"
"Yeah, here you go." She extended her hand once more and the two creatures shared a look before grabbing the chocolate and devouring it eagerly.
"Hmmmmm chocolate." They moaned in delight, licking their fingers, or what she assumed were fingers.
Ulma giggled at the pair. They were pretty cute, in a devilish sort of way. "So do you have names and what exactly are you?"
"I'm Pain." The red one introduced, raising his hand like a school child.
"And I-I'm P-Panic." The blue one stuttered. "And we're d-demons."
"Demons huh? Cool. I've never met a demon before." She smiled sweetly. "I'm Ulma."
"Ulma!" Panic yelped, jumping surprise. "You're U-Ulma!?"
"Yes." She replied, her brow furrowing in confusion. "You know who I am?"
"Oh yes!" Pain chimed in. "We hear your name all the time when we talk to---hmph!"
Panic slapped his hand over Pain's mouth a look of well, panic, crossing his face. "Shhhhh! You big dummy!" He hissed. "We can't talk about him!"
"Talk about who?" Ulma asked curiously.
"N-No one." Panic answered quickly as Pain whistled suspiciously.
Ulma looked between the two nervous demons. They were clearly hiding something. Who couldn't they talk about?
Ulma sighed as she debated if she should pursue the conversation further. She didn't have much time to continue her search for Hayden and----
Hayden. The realization hit her like a lightning strike as his words echoed in her mind.
"You can't tell! No one can know I exist!"
Was it possible these two little demons knew Hayden? She turned back to the two demons who were whispering frantically to each other. If they knew where Hayden was, she had to get them to talk.
"Pain, Panic." She smiled sweetly. "This person you're not supposed to talk about, his name wouldn't happen to be Hayden would it?"
Their eyes widened at her words and instead of responding, the two demons tried to run. Ulma grabbed the two demons' arms, keeping them from getting too far.
"Just let us go!" Pain wailed.
"He'll maim us if we tell!" cried Panic.
"Pain, Panic please." Ulma begged, staring them down with a pleading gaze. "I need to find Hayden. The last time I saw him he was scared and on the run. I just want to make sure he's okay. I know that his existence is a secret and I won't tell, I swore on the River Styx. That's an unbreakable vow. Just please, take me to him."
Pain and Panic shared a look as they contemplated Ulma's words. They were terrified of Hades but had a soft spot for the little boy they had basicly raised themselves.
They had been Hayden's only companions for so long and when they listened to Hayden talk about Ulma, it was the first time they had seen him truly happy in years.
The two demons shared a knowing look before turning to face Ulma.
"W-We will take you to him." Panic relented. "As long as you promise to keep your oath."
"I will! Thank you!" Ulma smiled pulling the two demons into a hug.
They froze at the contact before melting into the embrace. Hugs were nice, nobody had ever hugged them before.
Ulma released her hold, allowing Pain and Panic to take her hands. They guided her through several alleys and past a small junk shop before stopping in front of a gated stairway.
"He's all the way at the top." Pain explained, pointing upwards.
"But how do I get in?" Ulma asked, rattling the gate."
Pain jumped up and down, pointing at a sign above her head. "Ooo Ooo! I know, I know! Rocks!"
Ulma stared at the little demon in confusion before staring up at the 'Beware of Flying Rocks' sign. "How does a sign help me get in?"
Panic sighed, handing Ulma a rock. "What Pain is trying to tell you is that you have to hit the sign with a rock to open the gate."
Ulma nodded in understanding as she tossed the rock at the sign. It bounced off with a clang and with a loud creak, the gate began to rise.
"Awesome." Ulma grinned, bolting up the stairs with Pain and Panic at her heels.
When Ulma reached the top she extended a hand to knock on the door, then froze. Would Hayden be happy to see her? Would he even answer?
Pain looked up at Ulma in confusion. "Knock. Just knock. Knock on the door. Panic, I think she forgot how to knock."
Panic sighed, walking up to the door and opening it up for Ulma. "Just go in, nobody knocks around here."
Ulma walked into the large apartment, making her way down a small hallway. As she walked, she stopped when she noticed a picture with a X painted over it.
"Mom?" Ulma whispered as she stared at the image. Her mom could have been no older than herself in the image.
Her hair was in long teal braids, she was a wearing a pirate hat, and holding a sword. It felt strange to see an image of her mother back when she had been a teen on the Isle.
Ulma turned from the picture, making her way into a larger room. The walls were covered in graffiti, silhouettes of villians with the words Long Live Evil, and barbed wire.
However, what caught her attention most was the image of four familiar faces on the main wall. They were much younger and their faces held more grim and serious expressions, but she'd know them anywhere.
"Aunt Mal, Aunt Evie, Uncle Carlos, and Uncle Jay, wow." Ulma whispered as she realized where she was. "This is the old hideout."
Ulma turned to speak with Pain and Panic when her attention was drawn to the sound of shuffling coming from a nearby room.
Walking away from the image, she made her way to the room in the farthest corner of the apartment.
Seeing the blue blanket on the bed and the mural of her Aunt Evie on the wall, she realized this must be her room.
The shuffling came from her left once more and Ulma turned to see a figure sitting at an old vanity, its mirror full of cracks and half of its drawers missing.
"Hayden?" Ulma called out softly.
The figure jumped up and whirled around, an object falling from their hand in the process. "U-Ulma?"
"It's me." She smiled, relieved that it was him. "I've been looking all over for you."
"You shouldn't have come here." Hayden replied bitterly, turning his back towards her. "You'll just get us both in trouble."
Ulma's face fell at his words. This was not the welcome she had expected. "What do you mean? I just wanted to make sure you okay and----"
"Leave." He snapped, cutting her off. "Go home Ulma."
"No." Anger was laced in her voice as she spoke. "I came here to see you, and you won't even look at me!? I am not going to just walk out of here!"
"Ulma----"
"No!" She snapped, walking towards him. "If you want me to leave then turn around and look me in the eyes and tell me. Otherwise, I am staying right here."
Ulma grabbed his shoulder and spun him around, pinning him against the wall so they were face to face. Her anger melted away and she gasped in shock at what she saw.
His right eye was swollen shut, his lip was badly busted, and what appeared to be five claw marks were raked into his left cheek. Looking closer, she could see the traces of make up covering the under part of his eye. He had been trying to cover it up.
"Hayden, oh my god what happened!? Who did this!?"
He looked towards the doorway, refusing to meet her gaze. "Why don't you ask them?"
Ulma looked back at Pain and Panic who were cowering in the doorway, their faces riddled with guilt. "Pain, Panic what is he talking about?"
Panic whimpered as he moved further behind Pain. "W-We didn't want to t-take Hayden to h-him!"
"We don't like when Hayden gets hurt!" Pain added. "He made us bring him home!"
"Home?" Ulma said softly, turning back to Hayden. "Did your father do this?"
He hung his head in shame, giving Ulma the silent conformation she needed. "Hayden, he has no right to hurt you like this. It's wrong. You should come with me to Auradon, you'll be safe."
"I can't." Hayden said quietly as he moved away from Ulma. "It's too dangerous, I'm too dangerous."
Ulma shook her head in disagreement. "You are not dangerous, your father is dangerous. I can help you, please come with me."
"You don't know me Ulma! You have no idea what I am capable of!" Hayden snapped, pacing back and forth as he waved his hands frantically around in the air. "If I go to Auradon people could get hurt, you could get hurt! I-I don't want to hurt anybody!"
"You won't." She said gently, extending a hand towards him. "I know you won't. We'll do this together."
🔥
Hayden's hands shook as he felt his temper rising. He knew Ulma meant well, but she didn't understand the power he held. He wasn't just afraid for her, he afraid of himself.
"Hayden please." She begged from behind him.
Those two words so simple, yet they were enough to make him snap. She couldn't pressure him to leave.
"I CAN'T!" he screamed, shocked by the volume of his own voice. The heat pooled at the top of his head and when he turned to the mirror, Hayden saw what he feared most, flames.
He glanced at Ulma who was staring at him with wide eyes. She saw the flames, she knew now the freak he truly was.
Hayden waited for her to run, he could already hear the retreating steps of Pain and Panic so it was only a matter of time.
Instead, Ulma stepped forward and extended her hand towards him as she spoke. "It's okay, just calm down."
Hayden raised his hands to stop her advance, unintentionally shooting a fireball at her instead.
He watched in horror as the fireball headed towards Ulma. Her eyes widened and at the last second, she jumped to the side avoiding it just in time.
Hayden backed away towards the door, staring at his hands in shock and fear. He had almost hurt Ulma.
"I told you." He whispered, his voice shaking. "I'm too dangerous. Just stay away and you'll be safe from me."
Hayden turned away from Ulma, unable to bear seeing the look on her face. She had to have realized he was nothing more than a monster.
He moved towards the door, determined to get away when a hand clamped around his wrist. Not again, not now.
"Ulma let go." He pleaded, his voice deflated. "You saw for yourself, I'm dangerous."
Ulma slowly moved around him so they were face to face. Hayden turned his head to the side, avoiding her gaze. He couldn't face her, not after what had just happened.
"Hayden look at me, please." Ulma pleaded. She couldn't let him run off terrified with flames dancing on his head.
He felt her hand slide down his wrist until her hand was in his before taking his other hand as well. The familiar coolness of her skin against his was comforting and he felt himself slowly begin to calm down.
Hayden turned his head, slowly making eye contact. Ulma noticed and gave him a reassuring smile. "See? I knew you wouldn't hurt me."
Hayden stared at her in disbelief. It amazed him that she could be so calm after what had just happened. "You don't think I'm a freak o-or a monster?"
"You, are no more a monster or freak then me. I can change my legs into eight tentacles and breathe underwater." Ulma admitted.
"You can?" He asked in surprise. He didn't realize Ulma had magic.
She nodded, a small giggle escaping her lips. "Of course, I'm Ursula's granddaughter after all. What did you expect?"
Hayden tilted his head down, gazing at her hands as they gripped his own. "I didn't think about that. But do you see why I can't go to Auradon? If I can't control my powers within the barrier, how can I control them outside it?"
"You're controlling them now." Ulma smiled, turning his face towards the mirror. Sure enough, the flames on his head had dissipated. "But what I don't understand is how you were able to use them in the first place. There's no magic here."
"There wasn't any magic." Hayden corrected. "There are cracks deep underground where magic is starting to seep in. My father and I are the only ones who know. At least, I as far as I know."
Ulma's brow furrowed in thought. "But if the magic is underground, how are you using your powers here?"
Hayden sighed. "This hideout is close to the underground mines. The magic is slowly seeping to the surface allowing me to harness it. Even if I don't want to. I didn't even know I had powers until...."
Hayden trailed off, leaving her curious as to what he was going to say. How had he discovered his powers? At the same time, she didn't want to push any further than she already had.
"It's okay Hayden." She replied softly. "If you're not ready, I understand. I think I've pushed enough limits tonight."
"You think?" Hayden deadpanned, suppressing a smile. He appreciated her attempt at not pushing him, but he knew she deserved the truth. It would explain a lot more than just the powers.
Hayden gently guided her over to the bed, allowing both of them to take a seat. He looked down at their hands, hers firmly gripping his as his fingers remained slacked. Slowly, he wrapped his fingers around hers, allowing himself to actually hold onto her hands. The feeling was strange, but in a good way.
"I want to tell you the truth." He began, shifting his gaze to meet hers. "I can't explain it, but I feel different around you. In a good way of course."
"I know exactly what you mean." Ulma smiled, a blush blooming on her cheeks as his hands gently squeezed hers. So tell me, how did you discover your powers?"
"Well," Hayden began, taking a deep breath. "After I ran away from you Pain and Panic caught me. I tried to get away, but they dragged me straight to my dad's underground lair."
"Pain and Panic?" Ulma questioned. "But they're so sweet. Why would they take you to him? They said it themselves that they hate seeing you get hurt."
"They didn't have a choice Ulma. My dad can control them with his Ember. And when my dad has control, they're able to access their own powers. Pain and Panic can transform into almost anything, meaning they can use whatever force necessary to do my father's bidding. Even if they don't want to." Hayden lifted her hand up and placed it against his scratched cheek. "Pain jumped in front of me and turned into a bear. He knocked me down with one swipe of a paw, I didn't stand a chance."
Ulma slowly rested her hand against his cheek. She could feel the hard, raised lines where the scabbed over scratches ran across. She couldn't imagine the pain he must have felt in that moment.
He slowly moved her hand back down as she encouraged him to continue. "What happened once they took you to your dad?"
I asked him what he wanted. He told me it was time I learned what I was capable of and how much power I truly held." Hayden began. "Things started out okay, he made me focus on feeling my powers and trying to bring them out. But when nothing happened, he got angry."
His voice cracked as he finished his last statement. The words coming next were even harder to speak. "He started screaming that he didn't understand how I could have so much power and be unable to use it. That I was unworthy of a great gift such as the internal flame. He told me if I couldn't bring out my own powers, he would force them out of me."
Ulma's heart broke as she realized what he meant. "That's when he started hitting you isn't it? He force you body into a Fight or Flight response, knowing that you would have to unlock your powers to protect yourself."
Hayden nodded, unable to find his voice. The memories flashed through his mind, forcing him to relive that moment.
"Hayden are you alright?" Ulma asked softly.
He shook his head, riding himself of the thoughts as he met her gaze. "Yeah, just had a few flashbacks."
"We can stop now. I think you've told me enough about what happened." Ulma reassured him. "But what is an Internal Flame?"
Hayden sighed, having already known the question was coming. "It's a rare gift children of Hades can be born with. It basicly means that I don't need my father's Ember to access my full powers. I have an internal power source I can draw from instead."
"So can't you just turn it off?" Ulma asked.
"You can't just 'turn off' magic Ulma." Hayden sighed. "Besides, fire is lively and dangerous. If not controlled properly, it can run wild and destroy everything in its path. That's why I can't go to Auradon. All this power, it takes strength and practice to control. I don't have control."
She nodded solemnly. "But you can learn to control it, right?"
Hayden shrugged. "Maybe in time, but it could take months, maybe even years to master this much power."
"I understand." Ulma said softly. "But don't you ever wish to be free?"
"Of course I do." He admitted. "But I know if I walked out of here tonight, it would be disastrous. You've seen what I can do with just a little magic. Imagine what my powers would be like exposed to all the magic in Auradon. I wouldn't be able to hold them back. That's why I have to stay here."
"But what about your family in Auradon? Don't you want to meet your brother and your niece?" She questioned.
Hayden's eyes widened slightly at her words. "Niece?"
Ulma nodded, pulling out her phone and showing him a photo she had taken earlier that day. "Hadie and Ginny had their baby. They had a little girl, your niece, Hayley."
Hayden stared in awe at the image. He had never seen anything so tiny in his entire life. However, what he noticed most was her bright blue eyes, undoubtably from the Hades side of the family.
"She's beautiful." He admitted. "But this is just another reason to stay. If I go, I could hurt her."
Ulma huffed. "How will you know if you don't try?"
"I won't, but I'll know everyone out there is safe." Hayden admitted.
"Well," she sighed, before flashing him a small smile. "If you won't leave then I guess I'll have to keep coming to visit."
"Ulma, it's not safe. You can't--"
"I can and I will." She spoke defiantly. "You've spent 16 years on this island alone without anyone your own age. Someone has to look out for you and I am not going to just walk away."
"15 years." Hayden corrected. "I'm not 16 for another 6 months."
"Close enough." Ulma huffed.
Hayden shook his head as he have her hands one final squeeze. He didn't want to let go, but knew he needed to send her home. Slowly, he released his hold allowing their hands to fall to their sides. "It's really late, you should get home."
"I know. Are you sure you won't come?" She asked.
He nodded solemnly. "I'm sure Ulma. But I'll see you again soon right?"
Ulma smiled. "I'll meet you here tomorrow night."
She stared at him for a moment before pulling him into a hug. Hayden froze at the contact as her arms wrapped around his upper torso. He wasn't used to this sort of affection. After a moment, he slowly wrapped his arms around her, returning the embrace.
Part of him wanted to hold on and keep her there with him, but he knew that wouldn't be right. She had a family and people who cared for her. Ulma's place was in Auradon, not on the Isle.
Reluctantly, he broke the embrace and lead her silently from the bedroom to the door. "So I'll see you tomorrow night?"
She nodded. "And every night after that. Good bye Hayden, stay safe okay?"
Hayden leaned against the door frame as she stepped out, a small smile pulling at his lips. "I'll do my best."
