Prologue

9 years later

Harry and Uma stood nervously in front of the TV screen as Fairy Godmother hooked up the last of the wires. The screen blinked on almost immediately and revealed Captain Hook and Ursula who were bickering as they attempted to turn on the TV from their end.

"James stop stabbing the buttons with your hook it's not helping!" Ursula snapped as she snatched the remote from his hand.

Captain Hook huffed and rolled his eyes. "And smashing the keyboard with your tentacles is?"

She scowled at his remark as she pressed a button on the remote. Suddenly, Captain Hook's eyes widened. "Harry? Is that you?"

"Hello father." Harry replied, giving Uma's hand a reassuring squeeze. "You look well."

Captain Hook grinned and twirled his mustache. "You know I always strive to-"

"Uma!" Ursula cried, cutting him off. "Look how beautiful and grown up you are!"

Uma was taken back by her mother's words. "Oh, um, thank you Mom. How have you been?"

Ursula waved a dismissive hand. "Oh you know the Chip Shop never changes. Same angry customers, same angry employees. However...." Ursula sniffled and for the first time Uma saw sadness in her mother's eyes. "Flotsam and Jetsam have passed away!" Ursula cried as she blew her nose into a tissue. "My poor poopsies!"

"I'm sorry to hear that mom." Uma replied. "But Harry and I have some news that may make you feel better."

"News? What kind of news?" Captain Hook asked.

Uma lifted their hands to show them their wedding bands. "Mom, Captain Hook, Harry and I are married."

Silence filled the room as they waited for their parents to react. They waited for the yelling and scolding to commence. For the disapproval they had been expecting. Instead, they heard the clearing of a throat and a gentle reply.

"Well, I suppose congratulations are in order." Captain Hook replied calmly. "I agree." Ursula replied.

Harry stared wide-eyed at his father. "Yer not angry?"

He shook his head. "No Harry. I can see the happiness in your eyes, the happiness your mother always wanted for you. I can't be angry at that. However, I may need a bottle of Rum to gather myself."

"Oh no you don't James!" Ursula scolded. "You've been sober three years now. I won't let you ruin that!"

Harry looked at the pair in disbelief. "Ye quit drinking?"

His father nodded. "Aye, I realized it was doing me more harm than good. That it was creating more pain than it was numbing."

Uma smiled at the screen. "That's wonderful Captain Hook."

"Uma."

She turned to meet her mother's gaze. "Yes mom?"

"I've told you over and 9ver that love is weak. Yet you found it anyway. I'm p-proud you followed your heart." Ursula stuttered out.

Uma knew it took a lot for her mother to say that. "Thanks mom."

"I think we best get this show on the sea or we're going to have us a few sunken ships." A voice cut in.

Harry and Uma turned as Jessica joined them in front of the TV. "Hello James. I've missed you my love."

"Jessica? Is it really you?" Captain Hook asked.

She smiled as she stepped forward and placed her hand against the TV screen. "Of course it's me you old scallywag. I've missed you."

Captain Hook smiled as he placed his hook against the screen with her hand. "And I've missed you. You were always my greatest treasure."

Jessica laughed. "And you were mine James. Our family has grown over the last 13 years since the kids left the Isle."

Captain Hook and Ursula shared a surprised glance. "It has?"

Jessica nodded. "Harriet is married to Anthony Tremaine and expecting a baby. CJ is engaged to Zevon. Ursula, your nephew Michael is married to Melody and has a daughter who's 10, Marilla." She paused and turned to Harry and Uma. "Would you like to introduce them to you family?"

They nodded as they turned towards the corner of the room. "You can come over now." Uma called.

13 year old Ulma walked in front of the TV screen holding hands with her 9 year old twin brothers.

"Kids, meet your Grandpa James and Grandma Ursula from the Isle." Harry said as he tried to judge their parents' reactions. "Ursula, Father, meet your granddaughter Ulma, and your grandsons Henry and Holden."

After a moment, Captain Hook broke the silence. "Hello children." The three kids waved shyly. "Hello."

He then turned to meet Harry's gaze. "She's why you left the Isle." He said, gesturing to Ulma. "Isn't she?"

Harry nodded. "Aye. We were scared dad. We were only teenagers."

Captain Hook nodded. "You did the right thing. As much as I hate to admit it. I know I would have reacted badly back then if I had known. Ursula too. Am I right?"

All eyes turned to Ursula who seemed to be studying the children intently. "Mom?" Uma called gently. "Is everything alright?"

Ursula looked up with a wild spark in her eyes. One Uma knew she only got when she had a large revelation. "Mom what is it?"

"Eyes of the ocean blue
Skin of caramel hue

A hero born of land and sea
Will set only the worthy free

When the god below becomes aroused
Only together will the fires be doused"

Ursula stared at Ulma as she finished. "The Enchantress's prophecy is coming to light. Danger will soon be headed for Auradon."

Ulma stumbled back and grasped her mother in a tight embrace. "Mom what is she talking about and why is she looking at me like that?"

Uma hugged her daughter as she glared at the screen. "Mom that's enough. We planned this so you could meet your grandchildren not scare them!"

"But Uma, the prophecy-"

"I don't care what that crazy old witch says!" Uma snapped. "I thought you had changed but I guess I was wrong."

"Darling please hear me out! I have changed! If you don't heed the prophecy you will all be in danger!" Ursula cried. "I'm only trying to pro-"

"Enough!" Uma snapped. The boys were now sobbing behind Harry's legs. "I know an evil plot when I hear one. You're trying to use your own granddaughter to take down the barrier! How could you?! Maybe we can try this again in another 13 years but as of now you are to never have contact with my family again!"

Uma turned off the TV before gathering the boys in her arms. "It's alright, it's alright." She soothed. "Harry I'm sorry, we'll make arrangements to speak to your father but my mother..."

"I get it Uma, she was freaking me out too. Ursula seemed serious though. Are you sure it was a trick?" Harry asked gently.

Uma huffed. "I know my mother's tricks, Harry. She's lying. Auradon is safe, we have nothing to worry about."

Jessica placed a hand on Harry's shoulder. "Why don't you take everyone out to lunch and I'll help Fairy Godmother clean up. Okay?"

Harry nodded as he picked up the boys and began leading Uma and Ulma from the room. "Meet us at Tiana's mum!" He called back. Jessica nodded. "I will!"

As they left the room, Ulma turned back to look at the TV screen. Her grandmother's words echoed in her head.

"Eyes of the ocean blue
Skin of caramel hue

A hero born of land and sea
Will set only the worthy free

When the god below becomes aroused
Only together will the fires be doused"

Ulma was scared but also intrigued by this "prophecy" as her grandmother had called it. She knew her grandmother had done many evil deeds in the past but the woman she had just seen hadn't appeared to be evil.

If anything, Ulma had noticed something her mother had not. There had been desperation in her grandmother's eyes as she had pleaded her case.

Ulma gave her mother's hand a squeeze. She knew she had gotten riled up. Ulma decided then and there that she would find the truth behind this prophecy. Even if it meant going against her mother's wishes.
