I'm Not You
"Thank you all for your bravery in defending Auradon today." Ben smiled, addressing the crowd. "Without all of you this may not have been possible."
Everyone nodded and clapped, however a big question was still on everyone's minds.
"What happens now Ben?" Evie asked. "Are you going to send our parents back?"
Ben looked around at all the villians standing with their families. They could have chosen to help Hades, yet they had stood with the people of Auradon instead.
"No, I will not be sending the villians back." Ben announced. "And after today, I think it would be unfair to call you villians. As of today, you are all heroes in the eyes of Auradon. And as King, I would like to thank you for your service, and welcome you into our kingdom with open arms. Welcome home, all of you."
Everyone cheered at Ben's proclamation. No longer would the Island be a prison and no longer would families be separated. For the first time in over thirty years, they would all be together as one.
With the proclamation made the crowd began to disperse. Families were heading home to talk and reconnect so that they could start the next chapter of their lives in Auradon.
Ulma smiled as she pulled Max, Matthew, Connor, Trevor, and Hayden into a group hug. "Thank you guys, for all your help."
Max laughed. "You know we'd never let you down Captain."
"Yeah, we're a team." Matthew added. "We always have each other's backs."
"Trevor and I just got thr barrier remote for Hayden." Connor admitted. "We didn't really do much."
Ulma sighed. "Connor, you stood with the rest of us and helped us take down Hades, you did something."
"Listen to the girl, ké mwen." Trevor smiled, wrapping an arm around his shoulders. "You were really brave today, we all were."
"Thanks Trev." Connor blushed.
Ulma turned to Hayden. "I'm so proud of you."
"You are? For what?" Hayden asked.
"For facing your fears." Ulma replied, taking his hands in hers. "Not only did you stand up to the villians and convince them to join us, you faced Hades. We couldn't have done this without you."
Hayden began to reply but was cut off when he felt soft lips on his. Hayden's eyes widened before he slowly melted into the kiss. When they finally pulled away Hayden's hair was on fire. "Woah."
Ulma giggled. "Hayden, would you like to go out sometime?"
"I...um...I...." Hayden stuttered as blush crept on his cheeks. "Yeah. Yeah, I would like that."
"Great." Ulma smiled.
🔥
Harry had been watching the kids from afar. When he saw the kiss he turned and looked at Hadie. "Should I be worried?"
"Nah, he's a good kid." Hadie chuckled. "Hayden is my son after all."
"That's what worries me." Harry sighed.
Uma placed a hand on Harry's shoulder. "The boy has more than proved himself. Ulma is in good hands."
"I know." Harry sighed. "But she's my little girl."
Uma kissed his cheek. "And she always will be. Ulma has always been, and always will be, a daddy's girl."
Harry smiled. "I guess you're right love."
🔥
Trevor smiled at the sweet moment between Ulma and Hayden before turning to Connor. "They look good together, just like us."
Connor chuckled. "Yeah, I suppose so."
"Maybe one day you'll kiss me like that in public." Trevor teased.
Connor blushed in surprise at the comment as he looked away from Trevor to stare at his friends. If Ulma and Hayden could stand up for what they believed in, maybe he could too.
Before he could chicken out Connor turned and pulled Trevor into a kiss. He was tired of pretending. No matter what anyone thought, he wanted his happy ending.
"Connor!"
"Oh no." Connor groaned as he pulled away from Trevor and his father made his way through the dispersing crowd towards them.
"What do you think you're doing!?" King Chad snapped angrily, pulling him away from Trevor.
"Celebrating our victory against Hades?" Connor admitted hesitantly. "We did just save Auradon."
"Bye kissing him?" King Chad asked, appalled by the idea. "You are the crown prince of Auroria and Cinderellasburg! Do you know what this type of publicity will do to our reputation? This....this is over! You're coming home now! You will continue your studies and R.O.A.R. training there! Let's go!"
Connor clenched his fists as his anger boiled. His entire life his father has been telling him what to do and who to be, but telling him who he could date? That was taking it too far.
"No." Connor told him, his voice low.
King Chad looked at him in a mix of shock and anger. "What did you just say to me?"
"No." Connor repeated more confidently. "I'm not going with you."
"This isn't a debate." King Chad snapped. "We are leaving now, that's final. You will not see that boy again."
"No!" Connor snapped. "I love him dad! Can't you see that!? Do you really think locking me away in that stupid castle is going to change that!?"
"Connor that's enough!" King Chad bellowed. "Stop with this foolishness! Its not what you want!"
"How would you know dad!?" Connor shouted. "Have you ever asked me what I want!? I'm not you!"
King Chad was stunned by his son's assertiveness. Connor had never spoke against him before.
"Dad." Connor's voice had softened, almost breaking. "I hate Tourney and R.O.A.R. I'd rather play the piano and sing in the Choir. You want me to be this great leader, but I'd rather be the one assisting the leader. And in your mind you've imagined me marrying some princess, but that's not me either. I love Trevor, and there is nothing you can say or do that will ever change that."
King Chad shook his head as he tried to wrap his mind around what Connor had told him. Every dream and ambition he had for his son was drifting away and King Chad couldn't handle losing control over that part of his life.
"I have had enough of your foolishness Connor!" King Chad snapped. "I am your father and you will show me respect!"
King Chad raised his hand to strike Connor but before he could something caught his wrist.
"I suggest ye leave before I do something we'll both regret." Captain Hook growled, his hook hand wrapped around Chad's wrist.
King Chad turned back to look at Connor but found Harry standing protectively in front of him with an angry glare.
"Ye don't deserve to call yerself a father." Harry spat. "If ye actually loved him, ye'd let him live his own life."
King Chad shook his head as he snatched his wrist away from Captain Hook. "You think you can do a better job? Keep him."
With that King Chad walked off, disappearing into the crowd as everyone stared after him in disbelief.
Harry turned around to face Connor. "Are ye alright lad?"
Connor nodded slowly. "Y-Yeah, I think so. But....but he just left me."
"Give yer father some time to get over himself." Harry replied. "Yer his son, a part of him will always love ye."
Audrey, who had been standing nearby with her two year old daughter and witnessed the the whole thing slowly made her way towards them. "Connor, sweetie?"
"Mom?" Connor questioned warily. "Are....Are you going to yell at me too?"
Audrey shook her head before pulling him into a hug. "No, your father has done enough of that. I just wanted to say I'm so proud of you for standing up for yourself. I should have stepped in a long time ago and I'm sorry I didn't."
Connor buried his face in her shoulder. "I wish dad would be proud of me."
Audrey sighed. "Me too. You've become a wonderful young man."
"Really?" Connor asked.
Audrey nodded. "You have. From now on you choose your classes and extracurriculars, okay? I'll talk to your father and try to get him used to the idea."
"Thanks mom." Connor smiled. "I love you."
"Oh sweetie, I love you too." Audrey replied before turning to Harry. "Can you look after him for a bit until I can straighten Chad out?"
Harry nodded. "Of course. Connor is always welcome in our home."
"Thank you." Audrey smiled before turning to Trevor. "As for you, treat my son well, okay?"
"Mom!" Connor groaned in embarrassment.
Trevor chuckled. "I will Queen Audrey, I promise."
Audrey nodded in approval before heading out to find her husband. Harry sighed and turned to face Ulma's friends and his family. "Come on everyone, let's go home."
