Fathers
"Again." Hades ordered as he forced Hayden to practice his powers. A wave of the ember had been all it took to take control of Pain and Panic and have him brought there.
Hayden released a shakey breath as he tried once more to form a wall of fire around himself. The flames slowly swirled around him at first but as they grew taller and faster, he panicked. All at once Hayden lost his focus and the flames around him exploded outward before dissipating.
Hayden collapsed to the ground, his breathing heavy. It had been hours since they started and he was exhausted.
"Get up." His father growled. "I told you no break until you get it right."
Hayden slowly pushed himself onto his knees with a grunt. As he rose, his knees buckled and he collapsed to the floor once more. His body wasn't use to constantly expelling magic for long periods of time. He was weak and drained.
"Aaaaah!" Hayden yelped in pain as his father yanked him up by his hair.
Hades growled as his grip tightened. "I thought I told you to get up."
"I'm sorry," He whimpered, desperately trying and failing to find the energy to stand. "but I'm just too tired. I'm not use to using my powers. I promise I'll keep working just let me rest for a moment Father, please?"
"Please?" Hades mimicked before tossing Hayden to the ground. "Pathetic! You are a demigod! Holder of the internal flame! Yet you can't even make it through one day of training!? Hercules could go from sunrise to sunset! My brother's children were always strong and yet I'm left with you!"
"And Hadie." He mumbled, pushing himself up against a nearby wall.
"What did you say?" Hades snapped, whirling around to face him.
Hayden flinched at his father's tone. "N-Nothing."
Hades hair flared red as he extended his hand. Gray tendrils of smoke swirled through the air, wrapping around Hayden and yanking him towards his father. "Don't lie to me boy! What did you say!?"
"A-And Hadie." He choked out as the smokey tendrils tightened their hold.
"Hadie. Hadie betrayed me. He left me here to rot when he went to Auradon. Hadie didn't have the internal flame. Hadie is nothing! That is why you must train! You must become everything he could never be!" Hades ranted.
He raised a hand to strike Hayden when his eyes widened in surprise. Hades dropped him to the floor with a loud thud as he rushed over to his Ember.
A cruel smile grew on Hades face as he gazed into the Ember's light. A wicked plan formed in his mind as he turned back to Hayden.
"Someone once said if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself." He laughed darkly. "Ancient law forbids the gods to steal the powers of any god or God-born for their own gain. But there's nothing that says I can't take hers!"
Flames swirled from the Ember, revealing an image of a girl walking through the Isle alone. Her red-tipped hair flowing behind her as her blue eyes kept watch as she quickly made her way through the alleys.
Hayden's eyes widened at the image in front of him. Not her, any one but her.
"You know her, don't you?" Hades taunted. "Well now because of your incompetence, she will pay the price! Pain! Panic!"
"No!" Hayden cried, desperately pulling himself up as he leaned on the nearby wall for support. "I'll do whatever you want, just don't hurt her! Don't hurt Ulma."
Hades ignored his pleas as Pain and Panic rushed into the room.
"Y-Yes Lord Hades?" Panic squeaked.
Hades waved his Ember in front of them, causing their eyes to turn blue. The image of Ulma formed once more as he gave his command. "Bring me this girl. Lead her here and I will take care of the rest."
"Yes Lord Hades." They answered.
"No!" Hayden screamed as he lunged towards the two small demons as they began to leave.
"Enough!" Hades thundered as he summoned smokey tendrils to subdue him. Hayden thrashed weakly as the tendrils wrapped tightly around his body and moved up to cover his mouth as well.
Hades walked over and grabbed his chin, silencing his muffled screams and forcing Hayden to look him in the eyes. "You had your chance, boy. I am tired of waiting for a day that will never come. So now you will watch as she suffers."
☠
Ulma sighed in relief as she rounded the final corner and the hideout came into view. Some time with Hayden was just what she needed to clear her head.
She tossed a rock at the sign and made her way to the top. As Ulma opened the door, she noticed the hideout was dark and eerily quiet.
"Hayden?" She called out, making her way deeper into the hideout. "Hayden are you here?"
There was no answer to her calls as she continued to search room by room, hoping he was just asleep somewhere.
"Hayden isn't here."
Ulma jumped in surprise at the unexpected voice. Turning around, she found Pain and Panic standing in the room.
"Pain. Panic." She said, breathing a sigh of relief. "You scared me. So where is Hayden?"
"He is not far." Pain replied.
Panic nodded. "He sent us to see if you were here. Hayden has a surprise for you."
Ulma felt a smile tug at her lips. "A surprise? For me?"
Pain nodded. "Yes, a surprise for you. Come, and we shall lead you to him."
Ulma grinned, adjusting her backpack. "Alright then lead the way."
The two demons lead Ulma out of the hideout and through several back alleys. As they neared their destination, Ulma felt nervousness creep in as the approached a gated cave entrance with a skull and the words 'Get Lost'.
"Where are we?" Ulma asked as she continued to survey the area around her.
"Home." Panic replied. "The entrance to the Isle's Underworld."
Ulma stared into the dark depths beyond the gates. "You mean where Hades lives? What kind of surprise could Hayden possibly have for me in there? He hates his father, he wouldn't come here. Are you sure?"
"Yes." Pain and Panic replied.
"Hades is away." Pain continued. "Hayden wishes to show you where he grew up and he thinks he found something that could be useful inside. That is the surprise."
Something useful? Ulma pondered. What could be useful in Hades lair that Hayden would want her to see? Unless....
Her eyes sparkled in excitement. Could he have found something to help control his powers? If he did, could the surprise be that he's ready to come to Auradon? She really hoped so.
Ulma pushed open the steel gates and turned to face the two demons. "Well, come on already! Show me the way!"
The two demons scurried ahead as she followed them through the dark tunnels. The lighting was old and dim and the rail system they were following looked like it hadn't been used in years.
Pain and Panic lead her around another corner before she saw the bright light ahead.
"The main area is ahead. Hayden is waiting for you there." Panic directed.
Ulma pulled the two demons into a hug. "Thank you so much!"
She took off towards the entrance as fast as her feet could carry her. Ulma ran through the doorway and stopped just inside the main cavern.
The room was huge and Ulma glanced up to see the large stone stalactites hanging over head. It wasn't until she heard a muffled sound to her right that she looked away from the ceiling and turned her attention towards the sound.
Ulma's face paled when she saw where the sound was coming from. Hayden was on his knees in the center of the room surrounded by what appeared to be smokey ropes. His mouth was covered and his eyes were wide with fear as he struggled and screamed.
"Hayden!" Ulma cried out as she rushed towards him. However, she only got a few feet before her legs were yanked out from under her.
Ulma turned and watch in horror as the same smokey ropes that were holding Hayden began to wrap around her body.
"Let me go!" She screeched as she began fearfully swipe at the ropes to no avail. Despite her struggling, the smokey ropes consumed her until she was left immobolized.
"Well, well, well, look what we have here."
Ulma felt her body rise and then turn until she was face to face with the one and only Hades.
"Why are you doing this?" Ulma asked, still struggling to free herself.
Hades chuckled as he watched her struggle. "Why? You want to know why? My dear girl, I've spent 38 years on this island. 38 years I've spent planning revenge! Now, I have exactly what I need thanks to you!"
"I'll never help you!" Ulma spat. "Whatever you think you can get me to do, your wrong. I'll die first."
"Funny you ou should meantion that." Hades smirked. "Because that's exactly what I need you to do."
Ulma didn't have time to react as a blue beam of light burst from the ember and struck her heart. Pain seared through every inch of her body as her energy began to fade. Her body arched backward and her mouth opened in an endless scream.
"AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!"
Hayden sobbed as he screamed for his father to stop. Ulma's screams bounced off the walls around him piercing his heart like knives. His greatest fear was coming true and there was nothing he could do to stop it. Ulma was hurting because of him.
Hades laughed as his ember absorbed all of Ulma's magic. "Yes! Yes! It's all mine! Finally, true power!"
As Hades opened himself up to absorb more power his hold on Hayden faded, allowing the smokey binds to fade away. Hayden collapsed to the ground, unable to focus. Screaming, all he could hear was her screaming.
The light of the ember slowly faded and Ulma's body fell to the floor with a sickening thud. Hades turned and looked down at Ulma's still form as she emitted a soft moan.
He sighed and raised his ember once more. "You couldn't just die could you? Well, time to say goodbye, chosen one."
☠
Hayden watched as his father raised his ember towards Ulma a second time. He couldn't let him hurt her again. He wouldn't, no he couldn't, fail her again.
Hayden pushed himself up and felt a rush of adrenaline take over as he began to run towards Ulma. Every muscle in his body burned as moved but he didn't care, he had to get to her.
"Noooo!" Hayden screamed as he placed himself between Ulma and the Ember's blast.
A loud explosion rocked the cavern as Hayden felt himself fly backwards, then world went dark.
Hades watched with little remorse as Hayden's body crashed into a nearby wall before crumpling to the ground.
"Stupid boy." He muttered, turning away. "He could have had it all. Oh well, at least I will get what I deserve."
A column of flames consumed his form and in a flash Hades was gone, leaving the two teens behind.
☠
Pain and Panic blinked in surprise, looking around as Hades control faded. What had happened to them?
As Pain gathered his senses, he suddenly felt Panic begin to rapidly poke his shoulder. "What?"
"P-Pain. L-Look."
Pain turned around and his eyes widened at the sight of the two injured teens. "Oh no. Panic what do we do? What do we do!?"
"H-Help! We g-gotta get h-help!" Panic screeched racing from the cavern. "H-Hurry!"

Harry sighed in relief as he kicked off his combat boots and dropped his bag by the door. It had been a little over five months since he left and it felt good to be home.
He slowly crept through the house, pausing for a moment to smile at Hadie who was currently passed out on the couch clutching a small bundle to his chest. Creeping a few feet into the room, Harry realized the small bundle was a baby.
"Congratualtions mate." He whispered before slipping upstairs.
Harry slipped into the boys rooms first, placing a gently kiss on each of their heads before moving on.
He smiled as he came to the next room. Harry had missed his wife more than anything while he was deployed. Sleeping alone when you were accustomed to sharing a bed with another was hard to adjust to.
Harry walked inside, slowly making his way over to the edge of the bed. Sitting down, he gently ran his fingers through Uma's hair and placed a kiss on her cheek.
Uma's eyes fluttered open and Harry grinned. "Hello love, miss me?"
"Harry?" She whispered, sitting up and flicking on the lamp nearby.
As her eyes adjusted to the light, they widened as she realized who was in front of her. "Harry! Oh my Triton! You're home!"
Harry laughed as her arms wrapped tightly around his neck pulling him close. He returned the embrace, taking in the moment of finally being able to hold her in his arms again.
"How? I thought you still had 2 more weeks?" Uma questioned, releasing her hold enough to look him in the eyes.
"Because of Ulma's sixteenth birthday. I didn't want to miss it, so I did extra training sessions each day so that I could come home early." Harry explained.
Uma's eyes widened in realization. "That's why you could never talk long. Oh Harry, Ulma's going to be so happy. It's been so hard on her not having you here."
"I'm sure." Harry sighed. "But I'm home and now that I'm an Admiral, my schedule will be a bit more flexible."
"Wait, Admiral?" Uma asked as what he said registered in her mind.
Harry chuckled. "Ye heard right love. Yer looking at Admiral Hook now."
"That's wonderful Harry, congratulations." Uma smiled.
"Thank ye love." Harry smiled as he placed a finger under her chin. Slowly, he leaned in for a kiss only to be interrupted by banging on their front door.
"Bloody hell." Harry cursed, pulling away and heading towards the stairs. "Who in their right mind would be bangin' on our door in the middle of the night?"
Uma followed him down stairs and they were immediately greeted by Hadie standing at the door as Connor, Max, and Matthew talked over each other in rapid panic.
"Lads!" Harry snapped, causing the young teens to go silent. "What is goin' on? It's the middle of the night!"
"Connor," Uma said, looking him in the eyes. "You do the talking."
"Ulma is on the Isle and we think she's in danger!" He explained, panic in his voice. "Max and Matthew gave her a beacon that she could use to send a signal if she was in danger. It's been activated. That means she's in trouble!"
"Boys, Ulma is in her room asleep." Uma sighed. "I think your little beacon is malfunctioning."
"It is not malfunctioning!" Max argued. "I'll prove it!"
Max stormed into the house and raced up the nearby staircase, disappearing into the upstairs.
"I'll get him." Harry sighed, racing after him.
"Max!" Harry hissed. "If you wake my daughter, so help me I'll--"
Harry froze as his eyes landed on Ulma's bed. Instead of seeing his daughter fast asleep, he saw nothing but a pile of blankets. "No."
"Now do you believe me?" Max asked.
Harry didn't respond as he bolted back down the hallway and down the stairs.
"Harry?" Uma questioned as he came barreling down the stairs. "Is everything alright."
"Ulma's gone." Harry replied, his voice filled with worry. "I have to go find her."
"Not without me and not looking like that." Uma replied, tugging on his navy uniform.
"You need to stay with the boys, I'll bring her home and--"
"No." Uma's voice was firm. "She is my daughter too. We do this together."
"I'll stay here." Hadie offered. "You just call and let us know when you find her."
Uma nodded. "Of course, let's go Harry."
"We're going too." Connor added. "You need Max to track the beacon and Ulma is our friend."
"Boys, the Isle is too dangerous. We don't need anyone else getting hurt." Ulma objected.
Harry shook his head. "No Uma, he's right. We need them. But boys, you stay with us the whole time."
The boys nodded and piled into the car as Uma and Harry jumped in the front. He sent off a quick text before taking off towards the bridge to the Isle.
By the time they reached the bridge, Uma had given everybody Isle make overs to help them blend in and they searched for Ulma.
Max
Matthew
Connor
Uma
Harry
When they arrived a limo was waiting in front of the bridge. Uma immediately jumped out of the car and wrapped her arms around its driver. "Gil thank you so much for coming."
"Of course." Gil replied. "Now let's go find Ulma."
Everyone piled into the limo and Gil used the remote to open the barrier. Every Auradon guard had one in case of an emergency. In an instant they were racing across the bridge onto the Isle.
Harry and Uma held hands as they watched the Isle draw closer. They looked into each others eyes and knew they were thinking the same thing: Please let Ulma be alright.
Gil carefully parked the limo in the old boat shed before allowing everyone to pile out. Max took the lead, tracking the the beacon with his phone as he lead them through the Isle.
"Are ye sure ye know where yer goin'?" Harry asked. "Why would Ulma come to the part of the Isle?"
"Beats me." Max shrugged. "But the signal is coming from around this corner. We're getting close."
They rounded the corner and saw what appeared to be a large cave in the distance. Suddenly, several figures emerged from the cave.
Harry immediately grabbed his sword, preparing to defend their group as the figuresapproached. It wasn't until they got closer that he realized one of them was calling out his name.
"Harry!"
His eyes widened as he realized who the person was and that he was carrying something in his arms, no not something, someone.
"Dad!"
Harry rushed forward meeting the older pirate half way. His knees nearly buckled when he caught sight of his daughters limp form in his father's arms. "No, no, no, Ulma. Dad what happened to her?"
He took his daughter into his arms cradling her to his chest as Captain Hook caught his breath. "I don't know Harry. I truly don't know. I didn't even know she was here until these two little demons came running onto my ship screaming for help. They were in such a panic they couldn't even speak. Once I caught Ulma's name I followed them to the cave, that's when I found her. She's barely breathing Harry, they both are. You need to get them help now."
"Both?" Harry questioned, before noticing the boy that one of his father's men was holding. "Who is he?"
"Don't know son, never seen him before. But he needs help." Captain Hook replied.
The others caught up just as Harry turned around. Uma released a gasp and rushed forward, tears falling as she cradled Ulma's head in her hands. "No, my daughter. Please, not my daughter."
"Uma we have to go." Harry said gently. "Gil, grab the boy. We'll worry about who he is later. Right now, we need to get both of them back to Auradon."
