Smile and Wave

If you see my love, 

smile and wave for me -

don't say you saw me walking... alone, towards the sea.

If you see him soon,

say that I am well;

don't know what got into me ... there, for just a spell.

At the water's edge,

or all the way 'cross town,

whether he is smiling... or If he wears a frown...

tell him I am fine,

that I'm getting on,

whatever t'was that bothered me...seems now to be gone.

That when we stood to talk,

I'd got something in my eye,

just a glint that came and went ... would go 'way, bye and bye.

Make sure that he's well

and if you are his friend,

remind him even good things... can sometimes make an end.
