MENTOR BIO

Hey! I'm Eliza and I come from the cold Prairies of Canada. I spend most of my time being a mom to my kiddos which means I'm extremely proficient at making snacks, doing crafts, and playing in the dirt/snow. I also love TV and movies, junk journals, and crocheting way too many blankets. I'm an avid reader, reviewer, and occasional editor of Romance and Rom-Com novels.

My own stories are primarily romantic comedies and sweet romances to escape into. My characters have minds of their own and really like getting into situations they can't get out of, but we always make it through eventually. I really love writing snappy dialogue, quirky unique characters, and a little angst piled on top of a whole lot of humour. I'm always learning, trying new things and having all sorts of fun.

As an editor and mentor, I'm detailed and thorough and won't gloss over things that I don't think are working, but I am also kind and open and decidedly ON YOUR SIDE. I don't want to make you feel like anything is too big to fix; I want to help you see all the potential in your story and work with you to make things even better.

I'll be there to support my mentee every step of the way, and I'd love to have open lines of communication, discussing problems as they arise and not letting things get too complicated before they're addressed. I'll be a cheerleader, supporter, and friend to help guide you through improving your writing now and in the future.

Before we go any further, I should mention that my favourite movie in existence is Pride and Prejudice (2005); I will not be taking questions about that choice at this time. I also watched (and loved) Bridgerton (like everyone else haha) and Outlander. I will never say no to a musical or anything featuring Meryl Streep. I loved, loved, loved Only Murders in the Building. And, I'm very sorry to everything else, but no movies will ever surpass The Holiday and The Proposal.

As far as reading goes, you've probably already guessed I love all things Romance. Romantic Comedy? Yes, please. Romantic Suspense? Sign me up. Spicy romance? Sweet Romance? Something in between? I will be there! Mafia? Small Town? Sports? Fantasy? Time Travel? I love all of it.
