Step 2. READ!

One of the BEST ways to get people to read your story is by reading theirs! I recommend always reading in the same genre as your story as there will be interest overlap. Do NOT comment "Go read my story." Instead, you should give genuine feedback about the story, or if you're feeling bold, compare it to something in your story. New writers are eager to receive feedback (and readers) and will generally be willing to read your story in return. Without you even asking. Especially if it's a story they can relate to their own writing. I generally recommend reading stories with less than a thousand views.

It is however perfectly okay to DM or comment on someone's story asking to do a read-for-read. Just don't swap votes as it's against Wattpad's ToS!
