Kokonoe: Born to an asian mother and a father who was a member of the Ackerman clan, Mikasa Ackerman had a pretty peaceful life in the farmlands of Wall Maria.

Junko: That is until three traffickers broke into her home and killed her parents right in front of her while she was still 7 years old! They then tried to sell Mikasa on Ebay, but luckily an angry emo kid came to her rescue.

Kokonoe: Enter Eren Jaeger, a boy her age who managed to kill two robbers, but wasn't so lucky with the third.

Junko: So what did Mikasa do?

Junko: She killed the bastard! Stabbing him so hard with a knife, it reached his heart and came out the other side! Now that's what I call a first kill!

Kokonoe: After that traumatic experience, Mikasa would eventually be adopted by Eren's mother and father, essentially becoming her new family as everything was once again running peacefully... Until it wasn't...

Junko: Yeah, remember how we mentioned Wall Maria? Well that wall was broken down by some giant weirdo, and quickly her hometown was destroyed by a bunch of giant naked smiling hobos!

Kokonoe: *ahem* They're called Titans...

Junko: Same thing.

Kokonoe: Anyway, these Titans ended up killing Eren's mother. And so Eren wanted revenge, and decided to join the military in order to kill all the Titans.

Junko: And since Mikasa had a little girl crush on her stepbrother, she decided to join the military to protect him. And trust me, when Mikasa is by your side, that's all the protection you need.

Kokonoe: Right. Out of ten best recruits, Mikasa was easily ranked number one not too long after joining. She has enough skill to take on opponents twice her size with far more experience than her. And when it came to using 3D Maneuver Gear, she mastered it almost instantly.

Junko: Oh yeah, 3D Maneuver Gear.

Kokonoe: It's basically a set of gear designed by humans to allow greater mobility when fighting Titans. It takes the form of a harness that holds most of the body below the neck.

Junko: That's right! This thing increases mobility, allowing the user to move faster than the eye can see! Though it requires special training to use, otherwise it'll tax the users muscles.

Kokonoe: Right... the 3D Maneuver Gear contains plenty of useful things, like hand grips or pistol-shot grappling hooks.

Junko: It's basically a Gas-powered firing mechanism. It also has an Iron Wire Propeller with plug-in blades.

Kokonoe: These blades are made of reinforced steel, letting her cut through the body's of Titans with ease.

Junko: Mikasa is super strong!

Junko: Throwing Eren into a wall when she was just a kid, and even broke wood just by stepping on it.

Kokonoe: She's also super fast.

Kokonoe: Even without the gear, she can move at peak human speed and can even evade attacks from Titan shifters.

Junko: And let's not forget her near superhuman durability.

Junko: This girl has very high stamina, and can fight for hours on in with only a few breathers.

Kokonoe: Despite her near superhuman characteristics, however, she's no harder to kill than any other human.

Junko: Yeah, her Maneuver Gear can run out of gas, especially when abused without restraints.

Kokonoe: And it doesn't help that Mikasa sees her own safety as low priority, as she's obsessed with trying to keep those around him alive.

Junko: Especially Eren, whom she fell in love with despite being his stepsister. Hell, she even cut her hair for him.

Kokonoe: Okay... but... why?

Junko: ... ... ... Shit happens.
