Junko: Since he was a child, Gaara has always been a bit broken. But that's understandable. I mean, his dad stuffed a giant raccoon in him, his uncle tried to kill him, and nobody in the entire village ever saw him as human. They thought of him as nothing more than a monster. Thanks to this, Gaara became a monster and lived his life believing killing would justify his existence.

Kokonoe: This viewpoint changed after he was beaten by a certain knucklehead ninja, Naruto. After his new views of life, he ended up becoming kazekage of the hidden sand.

Junko: So he's basically a ninja president. And a dangerous one at that. While many ninja use things like kunai and shuriken, Gaara doesn't use that. Or rather he doesn't need it. That's right, he relies mostly on his chakra.

Kokonoe: Chakra is spiritual energy found in every living thing. This is used in every jutsu.

Junko: Oh, and long story short, a jutsu is basically ninja magic. There are three types. Taijutsu, which focuses on hand to hand combat. Genjutsu, which makes illusionary magic. And Ninjutsu, which basically has you use all sorts of ninja magic.

Kokonoe: While Gaara is as skilled at taijutsu as Naruto and Sasuke, he much rather use Ninjutsu. His type of Ninjutsu allows him to manipulate sand.

Junko: Now, eventually he got his tailed beast taken out of him. So he can't do as much as he could before. But it's not like he lost everything. Like his two signature moves.

Junko: Like Sand Coffin, which allows him to trap his opponents into a thick layer of sand.

Junko: And Sand burial, which kills his foe by using the sand to complete crush them.

Kokonoe: Gaara also has sand clones.

Kokonoe: Like shadow clones, these can fight by his side. They also erupt for additional damage.

Junko: That's not all. Gaara can strike from above with Sand Drizzle.

Junko: This allows him to cause sand to rain down from the sky. This can help him disable or suffocate his opponents. And if that's not enough, Gaara can use Sand Shower.

Junko: This has him fire the sand directly instead of in the sky. Not enough sand? He can just use Sand Drizzle.

Junko: An attack that's much harder to dodge and drops sand on a much larger scale. But of course, that's not even the limit to how much sand Gaara can produce. If he feels like he wants a quick victory, he can just squash his opponent with Sand Tsunami.

Junko: Which has him literally make a tidal wave of sand. And if that doesn't finish the job, he can finish it with a Giant Sand Burial.

Junko: This crushes everything beneath the sand.

Kokonoe: That's not all. The sand isn't only used for offense as it is also Gaara's strongest defense.

Kokonoe: You see, Gaara's sand is embodied by his mother's will. Meaning it will protect him automatically without him doing anything. In addition, Gaara has his sand shield.

Kokonoe: This has him inside a dome of sand that protects him and can sometimes attack for him. In order for him to see in that thing, Gaara can use a third eye jutsu.

Kokonoe: This allows Gaara to see anything from afar. It actually irritates the eyes of anyone near it.

Junko: Jeez Kokonoe. You could have at least let me discuss Gaara's dessert hands.

Junko: You know, how he can create hands or claws of various sizes to squash, capture, or restrain his opponents? The strength  of those are enough to rival a tailed beast! Or would you like me to mention the fact he can somehow create a floating platform to fly in the sky at various speeds?

Kokonoe: I would if you could stop stealing my dialogue. Anyway, if someone were to somehow manage to get past Gaara's defenses, Gaara has his sand armor.

Kokonoe: An automatic armor of sand that protects him from physical attacks.

Junko: Great. So now he's got armor? Does he have any weakness?

Kokonoe: Actually, that armor is one giant weakness. You see, everyone has a limit to how much chakra they can use, and Gaara is no different. In fact, unlike his other defenses, Gaara's armor takes a lot of chakra out of him.

Junko: I see. Even then, he's still one of the most dangerous ninja of the hidden sand. Definitely deserving of his title as Gaara of the sand.
