Junko: Royal families aren't very rare. It's very common for members of Royal Families to be the scum of the Earth... but not these two. These girls don't look down on those beneath them and will summon their spirits to protect the ones they love. But whose spirits are stronger? And whose will shatter like glass?

Ann: Lucy Heartfilia, the Celestial Spirit mage of Fairy Tail.

Junko: And Rin Tohsaka, the master of Archer in Fate/Stay Night.

Kokonoe: The stage is set and the combatants are ready.

Junko: It's time for a Death Battle!

Lucy was walking around a quiet and peaceful forest holding a map.

Lucy: Jeez... where did Natsu go? We still need to stop that Dark Guild otherwise we'll never get the award money. Now let's see... they would be around here somewhere.

As she was walking, she passed Rin and they both sensed each other's magic power. Once they did, Rin was the first to turn to Lucy.

Rin: Hey, who are you?

Lucy: Huh?

Lucy turned towards Rin and saw the seal on her hand.

Lucy: (A mark... is she a part of the Dark Guild we're after?)

Rin: (Is she a master in the Grail Wars? She has to be... I can sense her Servants... wait... Servants?)

Lucy pulled out her whip as Rin took out six Jewels.

Rin: I don't know who you are, but I can't let you roam around freely. You're coming with me.

Lucy: Oh yeah? Go ahead and try!

Lucy swung her whip and Rin was quick to dodge it as she threw her jewels. Lucy didn't hesitate to swat them away as they blew up as soon as her whip made contact with them. Once they did, Rin used her magic to enhance her speed and strength as she dashed at Lucy and hit her with a kick that sent her flying through trees. Lucy managed to quickly slide back to her feet as she pulled out a key and aimed it at the ground. 

Lucy: Open, Gate of the Goat, Capricorn!

Using her key, Lucy summoned Capricorn to her side and Rin looked at him in shock.

Rin: Wait... is that your servant?

Lucy: No... he's my friend!

Capricorn immediately dashed at Rin who put her arms in front of her face to block. As soon as she did, the Goat man punched her in the gut and knocked her back. He was about to run at her again but right before he could a bunch of arrows suddenly shot at him from above. He was quick to jump back and dodge them. 

Lucy: Huh?

Archer: "It seems you have some uninvited guests."

Rin suddenly heard her servant's voice as he was standing on the edge of a cliff miles away.

Rin: "Took you long enough. Let's end this quickly."

Archer: "As you wish, Master."

Archer fired several more arrows and Lucy took immediate action.

Lucy: Summon, Gate of the Ram! Aries!

She summoned Aries who quickly made a pink wall of wool to block all the arrows. 

Lucy: Thanks, Aries!

Aries: I'm sorry!

As Aries disappeared, Lucy grabbed another key.

Lucy: Now then, Star Dress! Sagittarius Form!

Her attire changed as she now had a bow in her hands. She aimed and started firing arrows up at Archer who was easily countering them with arrows of his own, creating massive explosions in the sky.

Rin: You should be paying more attention to me!

Rin quickly dashed at Lucy but Capricorn got in the way so Rin quickly went to hit him with a powerful palm strike. Capricorn managed to block it as it created a shockwave behind him.

Capricorn: (So strong!)

He quickly went for a punch but Rin jumped back to dodge it before firing Gandr bullets that blew up in his face. As they did, his body started to disappear.

Lucy: Capricorn! Geh!

Lucy fired more arrows at Archer and he watched them come after him.

Archer: This isn't going anywhere.

He disappeared as the arrows blew up the entire cliff.

Lucy: Huh?!

Lucy looked back at Rin, who dashed at her and went for a kick. Lucy quickly blocked it with her bow and pulled out another key.

Lucy: Open, Gate of the Golden Bull! Taurus!

This time she summoned Taurus, who immediately jumped up and swung his axe.

Taurus: MOOOO!!!

He swung it at the ground and created a massive Earthquake as Rin jumped to the side and dodged it before running towards Lucy who pulled out a second key.

Lucy: Open! Gate of the Scorpion! Scorpio!

She summoned Scorpio who was already ready for action.

Scorpio: Alright! Time for us to take you down!

He fired a huge burst of sand out of his tail which would have easily blasted Rin away if Archer hadn't swept her off her feet and jumped away from the sand, onto a tree. Rin looked up to see that she was in Archer's arms. 

Rin: Jee, what took you so long?

Archer: My apologies, Master. It seems the enemy this time has a few tricks up her sleeve.

Rin: She can summon more than one servant at once with those keys so be careful.

Archer: So no matter what we do, we'll always be outnumbered. I like those odds.

As he said that, he put Rin down and Taurus had jumped up with his axe engulfed with sand.

Taurus: You better Moooove!

Rin quickly jumped off the tree as Archer summoned two blades to block his attack. As the two fought in the background, Rin turned to face Lucy who had switched to her Scorpio Star Dress. As Lucy dased at Rin, Scorpio fired another blast of sand that Lucy took control of.

Lucy: Take this!

Rin: Acht!

Rin threw a jewel that blocked the sand before throwing another jewel up in the air.

Rin: Ein Körper ist ein Körper!

The jewel glowed a blinding light in the air and Rin dashed past it, catching Scorpio off guard as he was instantly incinerated. Just then, Lucy had switched to her Taurus Star Dress and had dashed toward Rin.

Lucy: Lucy Punch!

Lucy went for a devastating punch, but Rin dodged it and managed to get behind her. She grabbed Lucy and hit her with a Suplex so hard it made a giant crater in the ground. As Rin got up, she looked to see Archer dodging the attacks of Taurus.

Rin: Der sechsfache Stern! Vogelkäfig der bindet! Shließung, Kette der Finsternis!

Chains of darkness suddenly wrapped around Taurus, giving Archer an opening. Archer took out his bow and shot a powerful arrow that blew up on impact, only to see that it had been blocked by Loke.

Rin looked surprised as she turned around to see Lucy standing back up holding his key.

Loke: Looks like I got here just in time. You can head back now, Taurus.

Taurus nodded as he disappeared as well. Once he did, Rin quickly aimed a Gandir Bullet and started firing them rapidly but Loke was quick to dodge them.

Rin: He's fast!

Loke appeared behind her and was about to strike, but Archer managed to dash at him and swing his swords. Loke swung his fist which was engulfed in light as the two of them clashed. Rin then stood up as Lucy had switched to her Leo Star Dress and dashed at her.

Lucy: Regulus Lucy Kick!

As Lucy went for a kick that was engulfed in light, Rin went for a palm strike and the two of them closed as well. 

Loke: Regulus Gatling Impact!

Loke unleashed massive explosions upon the battlefield that Archer was dodging as e took his bow and arrows and fired back with projectiles that Loke was dodging as well. Lucy and Rin were clashing between all of the chaos going on around them before Loke suddenly fired a lion head made of light.

Loke: Regulus Impact!

As e shot the projectile, Lucy and Rin both jumped back to dodge it as it went after Archer, who had jumped high into the air to avoid it. Lucy saw this and wasted no time.

Lucy: Open! Gate of the Maiden! Virgo!

As she summoned Virgo, a chain wrapped around Archer's leg. He looked down to see Virgo pulling on the chain wearing nothing but a swimsuit as she pulled Archer in.

Virgo: Virgo Kick!

She kicked Archer in the face and sent him flying away as Lucy switched into her Virgo Star Dress. But as soon as she did, Rin infused three jewels with Gandir Bullets and immediately shot at Lucy's arms and legs.

Lucy: Gah!

Virgo: Princess!

Virgo was about to dash in to help her, but Archer immediately got in the way and swung his swords. Virgo dodged them and went for a kick but he quickly dodged as she placed her hands on the ground. 

Virgo: Spica Hole!

A giant hole appeared under Archer's feet but he jumped above it to avoid getting trapped. As he did, Loke tried to dash toward Lucy but Archer fired several arrows to prevent him from getting close. He then landed in front of the two servants as his blades grew in size.

Archer: If you want to get to her, you'll need to get past me.

Loke: Oh yeah? Then bring it on. (He's fast. At this rate, we won't be able to make it in time.)

As Archer went to face the two spirits, Rin hit Lucy with a palm strike, causing her to cough up blood before getting hit with another one that sent her flying into a boulder right next to a river.

Rin: Give it up. It's obvious which one of us is the superior Mage.

Lucy: Never... no matter what... I'll never back down!

Rin: Hmph. You're almost as foolish as that Shirou idiot. Well, whatever. It's over.

She aimed a Gandir Bullet and fired at her head but Lucy dodged last minute and put a key into the water.

Lucy: Open! Gate of the Water Bearer! Aquarius! 

The river suddenly burst into a large pillar of water as Aquarius joined the party.

Aquarius: Honestly, you are such an idiot.

Rin: She summoned a third? And it's strong too...

Rin had quickly shot Gandir Bullets at her but they barely did anything.

Aquarius: You wanna poke me with that again?! Huh, you little brat?!

She unleashed a massive whirlpool that engulfed everyone. Archer quickly landed on a tree and aimed his bow at her, firing multiple shots that Aquarius countered after firing balls of water in return. Archer had finally made it to dry land and fired several more arrows as Aquarius created a water pillar to block them all. She went to create another whirlpool as Archer started surfing on a tree to keep himself from getting hit. Rin had managed to grab a tree and hold on tight as well. She looked behind her and saw Loke and Virgo right behind her. Before they could do anything, Archer had already appeared in front of both of them, standing at Rin's side as the two were struck down before they even noticed.

Virgo: (Such speed!)

Loke: (Dammit... sorry Lucy...)

Lucy stood at the center of the whirlpool with Aquarius as she watched the two of them disappear.

Lucy: Loke! Virgo!

Aquarius: Damn... Lucy, listen up! We may have no choice here...

Lucy: Huh? No... choice? No! There's no way I'm going through that again! I can't lose you again!

Aquarius: Just do it!

Lucy: But-

Aquarius: Now!

Archer pulled out another arrow and aimed it at Lucy who was holding Aquarius' key with tears slowly running down her cheek.

Rin: It's over.

Archer fired the bows and caused a massive explosion as all the water dispersed. For a second, everything went quiet.

Lucy: Summon... the Celestial Spirit King!

Once the smoke dispersed, Lucy was wearing an Aquarius Star Dress while being protected by a water barrier. Behind her was the Celestial Wizard King.

Both Rin and Archer managed to recover from the blast as they looked up to see him.

Rin: What the? That Servant... he's huge...

Archer: Hmph...

Celestial Spirit King; You two are the ones who made this young girl cry. Your punishment... is death!

Rin was about to jump back but time had frozen around them. Archer stepped up, unaffected by this.

CSK: Meteor Blade!

The King unleashed a giant blast of energy at the two of them. Archer summoned a seven-layered shield to block the blast and protect Rin. He took out a small blade and went to use it as a bow.

Archer: I am the Bone of my sword. Steel is my body and fire is my blood. I have created over a thousand blades, unknown to death, nor known to life. Have withstood pain to create many weapons, Yet those hands will never hold anything. So, as I pray...Unlimited Blade Works!

Archer fired the sword directly at the head of the Celestial Wizard King. As it hit, another huge explosion erupted and everything turned white. The brightness simmered down as Lucy opened her eye. The Celestial Spirit King was gone as she was in some sort of desert surrounded by a countless number of blades. 

Lucy: What the?

Rin: A Reality Mable created by my Servant.

Lucy looked up to see Rin and Archer standing before her.

Rin: Not feeling so lucky now, are you? It's about time we end this.

Lucy: No... I will win this! For my friends... and my guild!

Using the magical energy within the Reality Marble, Lucy unleashed a huge burst of energy around her as she summoned all of her Celestial Spirits. Including Gemini, who turned into a half-naked version of her. The other spirits charged forward as Archer fired numerous blades at them, fighting them all off. The two Lucy's then got together to charge up an attack as Rin pulled out her wand, Ruby.

Lucy: Survey the Heavens, Open the Heavens... All the stars, far and wide... Show me thy appearance... With such shine.

Rin: Der Spiegelform wird fertig zum Transport

Lucy: Oh Tetrabiblos... I am the ruler of the stars... Aspect become complete... Open thy malevolent gate.

Ruby: Ja, meine Meisterin!

Lucy: Oh 88 Stars of the heaven... Shine! Urano Metria!

Rin: Öffnung des Kaleidoskopgatter!

Lucy had summoned 88 giant balls of magical energy ad fired them all at Rin, who had turned into a magical girl and flew past them all.

Lucy: Star Dress! Gemini x Aquarius!

Her attire changed as she created water clones of all her friends to attack Rin, who turned her wand into a blade and cut through all of them. As soon as she did, Lucy changed her attire again. 

Lucy: Star Dress! Aquarius x Scorpio! Aqua Storm!

As her form changed, she fired a huge blast of water and earth down on Rin, who was quickly blown away. Rin managed to catch herself in the air and fire massive fireballs down on Lucy, who made a wall of earth to block them all. 

Lucy: Star Dress! Leo x Virgo!

Her form changed one last time as Rin came flying in.

Rin: If all you can do is change your clothes, then don't be surprised once I rip them all off!

Lucy: Lion Maiden!

Multiple pillars of light burst from the sky as Rin dodged them and continued to come charging in before a large pillar finally blasted her down to the ground, creating a massive explosion. Once the dust settled, however, Rin's wand was the only thing there as Rin was nowhere to be found.

Ruby: Whoopsy!

Lucy: What?!

Rin: Up here!

Lucy looked up to see Rin coming down with the Azoth Sword in hand. She stabbed Lucy in the shoulder, and although the blade crumbled, it managed to get rid of Lucy's Star Dress. The two of them fell back to the ground with Lucy being butt naked and all out of magic. As she looked up, she saw that Rin had already recovered and was holding the Jeweled Sword Zelretch.

Rin: Get out of my sight! Eins, zwei, RandVerschwinden!

She used the sword to unleash a giant and powerful blast of light that blasted Lucy into pieces. 

Lucy: AAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!

Lucy screamed in pain as her limbs fell to the ground in a bloody mess. The Reality Marble then disappeared as Rin was in the middle of the forest once more. She took two steps forward and nearly collapsed before Archer caught her.

Archer: ... ... ...

He looked down at her as she had fallen asleep.

Archer: You fought well Master. It seems that took a lot out of you. 

He looked around as he felt as if someone had been watching their fight, but he simply sighed it off and picked Rin up, walking back home.

Ann: That... took way longer than it should have. I think we should've stuck with Aqua vs Jeanne.

Kokonoe: Regardless this match was a very interesting one. Lucy certainly had the experience and her spirits easily allowed her to outnumber Rin, but aside from that, Rin took the lead in every other category.

Junko: Yeah, not only was Rin the better fighter of the two, her servant was stronger than anything Lucy could summon. Not including the Celestial King, though even then it would be a tough fight. Rin is also no stranger to being outnumbered as she's dealt with that same situation on three separate occasions. It's gonna take more than just the numbers game to put her down.

Kokonoe: But what really sealed the nail in the coffin was Rin's magical power and equipment. 

Junko: Don't get it wrong. Both these girls have a huge amount of magical power and a limit to how much magic they can use. And while Lucy didn't have nearly as many magical techniques are equipment at her disposal, she often uses up all her magic power in one go when things prove too tough for her and that has constantly got her in trouble with her enemies. And Rin, via comparison, is a lot more strategic and careful with the tools at her disposal.

Ann: Also her arsenal is much more powerful, with Ruby and the Jeweled Sword pretty much being overkill with their extreme amounts of magical energy. 

Junko: Lucy certainly had the heart of a fairy, but she couldn't stay the night with a girl fated to win.

Kokonoe: The winner is Rin Tohsaka.

- Connections: Both are magic-oriented tsundere anime girls who summon human-like spirits to aid them in battle, with said spirits being representations of pre-existing figures (Celestial Spirits being based on the Zodiac symbols, and Heroic Spirits are manifestations of historical and/or mythological figures)./ Both were the daughters of prestigious family names and the would-be successors before the death of one of their parents (Layla Heartfilia and Tokiomi Tohsaka) ultimately led to them distancing themselves from their remaining families and instead focusing on magic. Both are intellectually gifted for their age, albeit occasionally prone to let their emotions get the better of them, and both would form romantic relationships with auburn-hair-colored young men (Natsu and Shirou, respectively)./ Lastly, they've shown to be capable fighters even without their summoned spirits by their sides, and later they would be able to incorporate the powers of said spirits into their own bodies (Lucy acquires the Star Dresses which is basically a Requip spell, and in Fate/Extra Last Encore Rin later becomes a Lancer-class Demi-Servant).
