Junko: At first there was darkness... until our lord and savior said let there be light! And these two have learned how to take that light and turn it into a deadly weapon!

Ann: Aqua, the Maiden of the Keyblade in Kingdom Hearts.

Junko: And Jeanne D'Arc, the Holy Virgin of the Fate Series.

Kokonoe: The stage is set and the combatants are ready.

Junko: It's time for a Death Battle!

Inside a church in the middle of Orlean France, Jeanne was praying in front of a statue. A portal opened behind her as Aqua came out. She looked around the church and then up at Jeanne.

Aqua: I came as fast as I could. This Holy Grail War is too dangerous.

Jeanne: You are asking me to end the Grail War? I apologize but that is something I can not do.

Aqua summoned her Keyblade and aimed it at Jeanne.

Aqua: End it... Or I'll end it by force.

Jeanne: It appears we can not discuss this peacefully. 

Jeanne summoned her flag.

Jeanne: Very well then, bring it on.

Aqua: Burn!

She swung her Keyblade and fired three fireballs at Jeanne who quickly dodged them. Jeanne dashed at her and went for a stab of her flag but Aqua made a barrier to block it. She then went to swing her Keyblade at Jeanne who quickly blocked it. Aqua kicked Jeanne back and threw her Keyblade like a boomerang. Jeanne threw her flag the same way as their weapons clashed. Both girls jumped up and grabbed their weapons out of the air before Jeanne swung her Flag again. Aqua quickly turned around and jumped out of the way.

Jeanne: (She's good... for a girl who's not- Gah!)

Jeanne saw a vision of a much darker Aqua.

Jeanne: Geh... (What was that?!)

She looked up to see Aqua firing icicles at her. She quickly dodged them and Aqua started shooting Star-shaped projectiles at her. Jeanne spun her lag while running to block them all. As she ran, she accidentally stepped on one of the traps Aqua set and it blew up in her face. She quickly jumped out of the explosion and Aqua dashed at her, swinging her Keyblade. Jeanne blocked it with her flag and went to stab her, but Aqua blocked her attack with another barrier. Jeanne was knocked back as soon as she hit it and Aqua summoned chains to hold Jeanne down. Aqua then aimed her Keyblade before jumping in the air.

Aqua: Take this!

She fired off dozens of bubbles at her opponent. The chains around Jeanne quickly broke off and Jeanne stabbed her flag into the ground.

Jeanne: Luminosité Eternelle!

The flag glowed and formed a barrier around her, creating a massive explosion as soon as the bubbles made contact. Some of the bubbles were deflected and blew up around the church, sending chairs and giant chunks of rubble flying. Aqua froze time to a halt and infused herself with electricity as she started blitzing around the church, jumping from one chunk of ruble to the other. She then dashed at Jeanne and swung her Keyblade, but Jeanned quickly reacted and blocked it.

Jeanne: Freezing time won't work on me!

She pushed Aqua back and Aqua continued to blitz all over the place, striking at Jeanne from every direction as Jeanne kept blocking her attacks. Aqua then summoned a volley of 8 orbs. She teleported to each of them and knocked them down at Jeanne, creating more massive explosions. Jeanne swung her flag and blew the debris of the explosion away. Aqua landed behind all the rubble still floating in the air from the frozen time.

Aqua: For someone so strong you seem to love playing defense. So try blocking this! 

Time resumed and Aqua unleashed a heavy and cold wind that blew all the rubble at Jeanne, knocking the Heroic Spirit into the statue behind her and causing it to crumble on top of her. Before it did, Jeanne went into her Spirit form to prevent herself from getting crushed as her body reformed on top of the rubble. Jeanne then raised her flag, summoning five pillars of light down from the sky. Aqua had three pillars of fire around her as she dashed at Jeanne, avoiding the Pillars of light. She then jumped up and went for a fire-enhanced charged attack. Jeanne quickly blocked it and pushed her away. Aqua unleashed a thermal blast and Jeanne quickly made another barrier around her to block it as it blew a giant hole through the church.

Jeanne: (She's definitely powerful. I don't know how long this building can hold.)

Jeanne dashed at her and swung her flag. Aqua quickly dodged it and swung her Keyblade as Jeanne swung her flag again. The two maidens clashed as Jeanne pushed her back before dashing at her. 

Jeanne: (She's not a Servant so my Command Seals won't do much... but they can still do this!)

Jeanne dashed at her again and went for a strike. Aqua went to jump back but Jeanne used a Command Seal to stun her.

Aqua: What?!

She swung her flag and cut Aqua's arm clean off.

Aqua: GAAAH!!!

Aqua fell to one knee holding her wound as Jeanne went to swing her flag again. Right before she could, she got a glimpse of the future. With a look of shock and fear, Jeanne stopped her attack and jumped back as a burst of darkness surrounded Aqua. She started to turn much darker, becoming Anti-Aqua.

Jeanne: (It's the same as that previous vision. What happened? Did she turn Alter?)

Aqua smirked, looking down on Jeanne.

Anti-Aqua: All of that work and this is the best you could do? I believe it's time to show you what true power feels like!

Several portals opened up as clones of Aqua came out of them, striking at Jeanne from each angle. Jeanne swung her flag and destroyed all of them with a single swing. Aqua then swung her flag and unleashed a wave of darkness. Jeanne jumped over it and Aqua as she landed at the entrance of the Church. Aqua kept a grin on her face as she went for a powerful spinning attack with her Keyblade. Jeanne used her barrier again as Aqua clashed with it. More clones came and used their own Spellweaver.

Jeanne: (Can't... hold... on!)

Eventually, the flag crumbled and the barrier was destroyed as Jeanne was sent flying out of the church and into the town of Orleans. She tried to stand back to her feet as Aqua walked out the church with a grin.

Anti-Aqua: Just as I thought. You're too weak.

She then summoned a Demon Tower, sending the swarm of Nameless right at Jeanne. They all lifted Jeanne up into the sky before slamming her back down hard enough to make a crater. As Jeanne stood back to her feet, the Demon Tower began to swarm around her creating a large, dark dome.

Anti-Aqua: And now you will suffer the same way I have.

Jeanne looked around the pitch-black darkness and fell to her knees. She could hear Anti-Aqua's laughter around her.

Jeanne: I can tell this isn't you... and with this prayer, I shall return you to the light!

Jeanne took out her sword and began to glow, releasing a bright light that exorcised the Demon Tower as she ascended. Her attire changed to something brighter as she looked at Aqua with determination in her eyes. Aqua looked disgusted as her two clones dashed at Jeanne, but Jeanne swung her blade and dealt with them swiftly. Anti-Aqua then dashed at Jeanne and swung her Keyblade only for Jeanne to dodge it. She swung her sword and Aqua did a cartwheel to dodge Jeanne's attack. The two then swung their blades again and clashed, creating a shockwave around them. Jeanne smiled and unleashed a giant explosion with her sword, sending Aqua flying and knocking her back to normal. Aqua stood up and felt her head.

Aqua: Geh... What... What happened?

Jeanne looked at her and smiled.

Jeanne: You're back to normal... good. Now it's time for me to end this!

She stabbed her blade into the ground.

Jeanne: Oh lord, please bless this land with your holy light... 

Aqua went to face her, clutching her Keyblade.

Jeanne: ... La Pucelle!

Her blade unleashed a burst of fire, destroying everything in its path. Aqua pulled out a barrier and ran through the flames. As the flames grew stronger her barrier was starting to rip apart. Aqua quickly infused her Keyblade with magical energy.

Aqua: Need to... make it!

The Barrier shattered as Aqua jumped in the air, the flames ripping her legs out of existence as she swung her sword at Jeanne, slicing Jeanne in half. Aqua then fell to the ground and looked behind her, watching Jeanne's body glow and disappear.

Aqua: ... Thank you... and goodbye.

Junko: And all of God's prayers and all of God's sins, couldn't put Jeanne back together again! What? You thought Jeanne was going to win with all her defensive power? Well, this one was a bit more complicated. 

Ann: Jeanne had plenty of her own advantages. She was resistant to almost everything Aqua could throw at her and even has a bit of Hax of her own that could slow Aqua down. With calculations involved, Jeanne would have a huge speed advantage and you could even argue infinite speed for both combatants.

Junko: But despite her advantages, Jeanne didn't have a big way to finish Aqua off. Don't get me wrong, she could still beat Aqua but more times than not Aqua should take this. I mean, despite her defenses Jeanne has lost to similar Mages like Tamamo twice. It is true that Jeanne beat a stronger form of Tamamo that's much stronger than Aqua, but it doesn't change the fact Jeanne struggles against opponents like her. 

Kokonoe: Her flag also can only take so much damage from Aqua. While Aqua does have to worry about a similar situation with her barriers, she can still use her barriers again even if they're broken. And considering they're strong enough to take hits from a blade that nearly rewrote the entire Kingdom Heart Multiverse, Aqua's barrier should be more than strong enough to protect her from Jeanne's strongest attacks even for a time.

Ann: But even then the real thing that sold the deal is their defenses. Jeanne's defenses were indeed much greater than Aqua's, but as stated before Jeanne's strongest move was the only thing Jeanne had to finish Aqua off for good and it came at the cost of her life. Even with it though, Aqua has resisted Existence Erasure in the past as it has been stated that Heatless are capable of such things. Heck, the Realm of Darkness is capable of this and Aqua's been in there for a Decade. So it's safe to say Aqua should be able to at least resist the effects of La Pucelle.

Junko: So despite what Jeanne had she lost this game of Chess, sealing her Fatein a Kingdom of Hearts!

Kokonoe: The winner is Aqua.

Neptune's Trivia: Battle #160

Connections- Heroines with light-themed weapons and powers who spend a good portion of the series conflicted between fulfilling their duties and their feelings of friendship for their comrades. Their closest companions are the main rookie protagonist (Ventus and Sieg) and the charismatic fan-favorite (Terra and Astolfo). Both have fighting styles that combine close-quarters combat augmented with light magic. The heroes ended up having to fight an evil version of them (Anti-Aqua and Jeanne-Alter).

-Originally Aqua was going to fight Saber Artoria, who had far more connections than Jeanne. However, we decided to do Jeanne vs Aqua first and Aqua vs Saber another time

     *Couincidently, Jeanne ran into a similar issue as Saber in which the show she originated in did not let her use her full power.

-Jeanne is the second Fate character to actually lose a Death Battle along with Gilgamesh who battled a Composite Sonic the Hedgehog

-This battle was also moved to a later date three times. Once in Season 4 and twice in Season 5.
