Fact: I love psychology. It is and will always be my favourite part in science.

So, it makes me really annoyed with most of the stories here on Wattpad seem to be illogical and make their character have a 'sad' past that seems to be pointless.

Not only on teen fiction, but also on other genres!

So, because of the popularity of the main character(a) having a sad past that is pointless, I am making this chapter.

First of all,
Sociopathy: When a person suffers from being a sociopath. They turn into a sociopath due to them suffering from a traumatic past (usually in their childhood).

Sociopaths are born as normal humans. They then turn into sociopaths due to a 'sad' past.

Just like the main character(s) past!

So, if sociopaths turn into sociopaths due to a traumatic past, then why doesn't the main character(s) turn into sociopaths!? It's illogical!

They suffer since childhood, so they should be turning into sociopaths. It's easier to turn into a sociopath if the person suffers traumatic experiences as children.

And yet. The character(s) walk around like nothing happened! Their psychological state should be unstable! (They should be suffering mentally) Except if they go to a psychiatrist or something.

Which they don't because the book doesn't even mention psychology!

If you're going to make a story where the character(s) have a dark past at least make a consequence, y'know... something that would happen in the REAL world. Use logic for once.

If you take out the character(s)'s dark past from the... *cough*... "story" and there's absolutely no difference, then you know you've messed up.

The character(s)'s sad past is meaningless without a psychological consequence happening afterwards, which, by the way, effects the character's BEHAVIOUR and PERSONALITY!

Which then might lead them to have an enemy.

Which makes the 'plot' more interesting.

See how the pieces fit together.

I'm not trying to say that your character should become a sociopath, I'm trying to say that there should be some psychological changes in character due to their dark past. I just use sociopathy as an example.

The point: Having a meaningless sad past + no psychological changes = me leaving the book.

That's the math of it, I guess...

All this psychology talk is making me want to watch Psych2Go...... maybe I will...
