Tell us a little bit about yourself:

I love writing and music, and have played the piano and violin for 12 and 8 years, respectively. I am going to be a freshman at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah this fall and plan on majoring in Political Science.

What genre do you write in? Why are you drawn to the genre?

I write in Teen Fiction/Romance, but I also love to write in Fantasy. I love the Teen Fic/Romance genres because they are easy to write in and easy to maneuver, but the Fantasy genre is wonderful because you can create your own worlds.

What is your most memorable moment on Wattpad?

When I found out "Dear Sydney" had won a Watty. I was sitting in my math class when I got the message from Wattpad and had to keep from screaming in the middle of the room.

Do you think that writing on a platform such as Wattpad has helped you grow as a writer?

It definitely has. It gives me a way to explore different genres and ideas as well as helping me to be responsible by sticking to an upload schedule and writing works that people actually want to read.

What advice can you give to those that are just starting out on their online writing journey?

I say this every time, but don't give up if your first book isn't a "hit". Or even if your tenth book isn't. There are so many people out there who want to read your book, and they just have to find it. It could take one event, one day, to change your entire life!

What books have most influenced your life most?

The Harry Potter books. I love them so much and they have truly helped me to become an author I would read myself.

Are you a published author? If so, what name do you write under.

Yes! I published my first trilogy (which isn't on Wattpad) under my full name, Katherine Powell McCafferty. But "Dear Sydney" is published under my official alias, Katherine Powell.

Recipe Name: Homemade Mac & Cheese

Is there a special story behind the recipe? If so can you tell us a little about it?

Honestly, the recipe is from allrecipes.com. I make it constantly because I love mac & cheese and it's super simple and a family favorite.

Ingredients:

8 ounces uncooked elbow macaroni

2 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (I use mozzarella instead tbh)

3 cups milk

1/4 cup butter

2 1/2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

2 tablespoons butter

1/2 cup bread crumbs

1 pinch paprika

Directions:

1. Cook macaroni according to the package directions. Drain.

2. In a saucepan, melt butter or margarine over medium heat. Stir in enough flour to make a roux. Add milk to roux slowly, stirring constantly. Stir in cheeses, and cook over low heat until cheese is melted ad the sauce is a little thick. Put macaroni in large casserole dish, and pour sauce over macaroni. Stir well.

3. Melt butter or margarine in a skillet over medium heat. Add breadcrumbs and brown. Spread over the macaroni and cheese to cover. Sprinkle with a little paprika.

4. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 30 minutes. Serve.

PRO TIP: The sauce is gonna look a little runny when you pour it over the pasta at first, but when it bakes it gets thick and it's perfect. Also I'm a terrible chef so if I could make this then anyone can. If you do make it, send me a pic of it!
