Tell us a little bit about yourself

I'm Wattpad ancient so we won't talk about age :D I have a five year old son and at this point in time I"m a stay-at-home mom.

What genre do you write in? Why are you drawn to the genre?

Well I write dark fiction, mostly scifi and horror but also paranormal and fantasy. I'm not particular, as long as the plot captivates me. I think I just like a place to express the darkness within myself and that I see in the world without actually promoting or doing any harm to others.

What is your most memorable moment on Wattpad?

Probably either the first time I got featured and started getting tons of attention (which given that I write adult fiction I typically don't garner on my own) or winning a Watty on my third year entering!

Do you think that writing on a platform such as Wattpad has helped you grow as a writer?

Yes. 100% and a big part of that is the people. Getting to know other writers and go through all the ups, downs and struggles with them makes it hard to feel alone...which I think is something a lot of us are prone to otherwise.

What advice can you give to those that are just starting out on their online writing journey?

Figure out what your goal is. Then figure out what realistic steps you'd need to take to get there. If you just want to have a community-- reach out. If you are looking for popularity, understand that getting it takes a ton of time and effort.

What books have most influenced your life most?

Tannith Lee's Flat Earth series.

Are you a published author? If so, what name do you write under.

Yes. I write under Jesse Sprague, though at some point I may pick up a pen name to separate my horror works from my scifi.

Recipe Name: Sgroppino (Italian Dessert Cocktail)

Is there a special story behind the recipe? If so can you tell us a little bit about it?

Summertime always calls for cold drinks ;P But yes, for me there is a story. I rarely make myself drinks at home, because I'm lazy and doing so means I then have to make something special just for me...and then make another treat for my son. But occasionally I get creative and one day we were having a backyard barbecue and I went to the store to get beer for my husband and ice cream for the kids...and I decided that a little extra effort was called for! I even made one for my son, minus the boozy stuff using lemonade instead.

Ingredients

12 ounces lemon sorbet

8 ounces prosecco

2 ounces vodka

Mint leaves for garnish (though for pretty when I do this recipe I sometimes get a bright colored fruit like a kiwi and blend it to add + slice to garnish)

Direction

1. Scoop the sorbet into a large metal bowl (this is when I add blended fruit if I'm planning too.) Add one-half of the Prosecco and whisk it around until the sorbet is melted into wine. Whisk in the vodka and remaining Prosecco. (If like me you do a kid friendly version, I just make two sets here, one with juice :p )

2. Drink immediately, or pour into a jar and place in the freezer until ready to drink. Add mint leaves as a garnish.

It may be winter here where I am but I will be pretending it's summer when I sip on this fantastic cocktail
