Fandom Talk: X-Men

Recently, there have been many new movies that have come to theaters. From Hidden Figures to Rogue One, they all seem to be doing amazing and have gotten great reviews. As the new year continues, you can expect even more movies coming to theaters. Specifically, another X-Men movie is planned to come out on March 3rd, 2017, and based on the trailer, it looks as though it is going to be great!

I was surprised when I first saw this trailer - because I legitimately felt myself tearing up. Usually, trailers don't make people cry, but this one did! I find this already as proof that we can prepare ourselves for a good movie. Although some are questioning whether the situation will occur where the trailer is much better than the movie, I feel that with this movie, that might not happen. I don't want to give too much away, for those of you who don't know much about X-Men, but I love most of their stories, and can't see myself or anyone else despising such a movie.

Right now, I'd like to look more at the trailer, though, and how exactly it makes the movie seem so enticing. The actual trailer seems to show scenes that give just enough information while not giving away too much of the storyline. One of the aggravating things that sometimes happens in trailers, is when the trailer gives too much of the story away. When this happens, viewers tend to find themselves asking what else the actual movie might offer. The best thing about any story is unpredictability. If the viewer is immediately able to predict the ending of a story before actual seeing the movie, it tends to ruin the experience. Personally, I love plot twists and surprises, and this trailer leaves me wondering about everything that is going to happen in the movie. I'm very excited to find out more about it when the movie hits theaters.

Another factor that plays into the success of this trailer has to be the music added to it. The background music for the trailer is the song "Hurt" sung by Johnny Cash. The song seems to be the perfect addition to the trailer and is what causes it to be so emotional. I watched the second trailer after the first one and found the first one more emotional solely because of the music. The song is so raw, and the lyrics match a lot with what seems to be happening in the trailer. There even is a point where Professor X repeats the word "someone" almost directly after the song says the same thing in the lyrics. The song is so powerful and adds to the effect that this trailer has on the viewer.

I think the most important part of the entire trailer, though, is the emotion it has caused many people to feel. I find that my favorite movies are always the ones where I can't help but cry during them. Creating such emotion just shows how invested the viewer is in the story, and also makes the viewer feel more connected to it. I'm very excited for March 3rd, and I hope this movie is just as good, or even better than what this trailer makes it seem to be!
