Roaring Muscles

Author's Note

Quick note before this chapter starts: I'm writing a new story as a semi-replacement for Unhinged. It's still being written, but I don't exactly know what to do with it at the moment, and I had another idea, so what can you do? :P

It's another Villain!Deku story, but relatively different. The jist is that hero and villain Deku get their universes swapped and have to figure out what's happening, etc.

Here's the link: https://www.wattpad.com/story/195020278-swapped-hero-vs-villain

Alright, let's move on with the story!

---

All Might appeared on the screen, facing towards a bright, glowing light. The world's most popular hero, All Might. Age, unknown. Quirk, unidentified. Merchandise, facts, and news of the man surrounded him as he posed. He broke onto the hero scene and was an immediate hit thanks to his abilities.

"I mean, how could you not love this guy?" Sero said rhetorically.

Nighteye, in secret, was paying close attention, gushing over the hero and his merchandise.

The visual shifted to a city, the sun breaking through the darkened sky. Ever since he appeared, crime rates have drastically decreased. His very existence is deterring many would-be villains. A chart showing the dropped crime rates appeared before switching to a little boy, starstruck as he gushed at an All Might statue. The world's a safer place. They don't just call him the Symbol of Peace-he is. And this pillar of justice said to me...

"Young man. You too can become a hero."

"Yeah, Midoriya!" Mina shouted, smiling.

Uraraka tilted her head, grinning at Midoriya. A faint blush appeared on his cheeks, and, upon noticing him, Uraraka's cheeks became pink as well.

Midoriya clenched his fist, teardrops falling from his cheeks and wetting the pavement. Memories of those who doubted him rushed to his mind, his heart pounding. I needed someone to tell me that. And then, the person I admire most in this world did. Honestly, part of me thought I'd never hear those words. Much less from him.

"I deem you worthy of my power," All Might raised his hands towards the sky, "My quirk is yours to inherit."

"Excuse me?" Kaminari said, dumbfounded.

"Uhm, what is he talking about, Deku?" Uraraka asked.

The boy's eyes widened as he stuttered, Tsuyu interrupting him.

"I thought their quirks were similar. Could he really be serious?" Tsuyu questioned.

"Shh," Sato whispered, "I need to find out."

Midoriya glanced upwards, a bewildered expression on his face. He tilted his head to the side, face still stained with tears. "Huh?"

After playing the intro, the camera zoomed in on Izuku. "Wait... What do you mean 'inherit'? Inherit what?"

All Might threw his head back in laughter, teasing the boy. "You should see your face right now! Don't worry," he stepped closer, "I'm not going to force this thing on you." He raised his hand into the air, pointing his finger to the sky. "Listen well, young man! This is your choice!" All Might pointed at the boy, blood gushing from his mouth. "Do you wanna accept my awesome power or not?!"

"WAIT HE'S NOT KIDDING?!" Mineta shouted, jaw dropped.

Ojiro glanced over at the boy. "You're saying..."

"He has All Might's power?" Shoji finished.

"No way!" Tetsutetsu awed.

Midoriya internally screamed, looking down as he balled his fists up.

"Woah, dude, you do!" Kirishima awed, "How?!"

"Y-you'll see," Midoriya whispered.

What is he talking about? What is this?

The man wiped blood from his lips, gaining a more serious tone. "There are a couple things you should know about my abilities." A newspaper clipping of All Might appeared onscreen, followed by several more. "Journalists always guess my quirk is super strength. Or some kind of invulnerability. When people ask in interviews," he said as one appeared, "I always make a joke and dodge the question. That's because the world needs to believe that their Symbol of Peace is just a natural born hero, like any of them. But I'm not. There's nothing natural about my ability."

All Might raised his arms into the air, placing them behind his head before shooting them to the sides, fingers curled towards the sky. "I wasn't born with this power. It was a sacred torch that was passed onto me from someone else," he revealed.

"All Might...," Aizawa gave the man a sideways glance. "So this is why you love the boy so much..."

All Might sputtered, sighing after being unable to come up with anything to say.

"That's not possible!" Iida gasped, "Quirks can't be passed on!"

"Someone gave you this quirk? No way," Midoriya said confusedly.

The breeze lifted All Might's shirt, revealing his scar. "Yes way. And you're next. I can give you my abilities."

"Wait, hold on, this is a lot to process," Midoriya panicked, "It's true that there's a lot of debate about what your quirk actually is-nobody's ever figured it out, it's one of the world's greatest mysteries." A phone scrolled through several comments, discussing what his quirk may be. "People are always talking about it online."

"He's right.. Nobody does know what his true quirk is," Yaoyorozu mumbled.

Tokoyami spoke up, "Which means that this could be true." He turned towards Midoriya, giving him a questioning look. However, the boy simply looked away, ignoring him.

Midoriya began to mutter, made noticeable by the caption, as well as the words flying out of his mouth. "But, well, the idea of passing on a quirk or inheriting it just doesn't make any sense to me. I've never heard of anything like that before. Powers are supposed to be unique to each individual. I mean, since the first superpowers, no one's ever been able to just give someone else a power like a present, that's crazy!" The boy wrapped himself and All Might in his words, "If this is true, this would cause us to rethink everything we know about quirks to begin with."

Midoriya's eyes widened. "Wait, this is all suspenseful for you, but... Is that really look like?"

Kaminari nodded, sighing. "Pretty much."
The boy blushed, mumbling apologies under his breath.

"You're still doing it!" Present Mic shouted, causing the boy to become red.

"Uh, sounds like you're overthinking this whole inheriting thing," All Might commented, attempting to snap Midoriya out of it. However, the boy continued mumbling to himself, forcing All Might to yell. "Stop nerdin' out!"

Laughter rang throughout the theater.

"Even he knows!" Sero chuckled.

Midoriya looked up, wide-eyed at the man upon hearing his shout.

All Might strangely posed, continuing his speech. "You'll have to accept this new reality and adjust to this new truth!" He raised his arm out, "I can transfer my quirk to someone else. And that's just one facet of my secret abilities."

A glowing light appeared in All Might's palm, rainbow beams shooting out from it. "The true name of my power. Is One. For. All."

"One. For. All...," Midoriya repeated.

"Welp, I'm going to pass out now," Kaminari sighed.

Kirishima looked over to him, "You said it. I just can't believe this..."

Uraraka glanced at Midoriya. He's even more amazing than I thought...

"Guess he's not his lovechild," Todoroki said casually, causing everyone's sweat to drop.

"Yes," All Might said, a visual of a rainbow beam shooting between orbs of light appearing on screen. "One person improves the power, then hands it off to another person. And continues to grow as it's passed along." The orb in All Might's palm became more vibrant, exploding with color and light. "This cultivated power then allows me to save those who are in need of a hero. The truth behind my strength." The light disappeared as he clenched his fist, making way for Midoriya to speak.

"But why would you choose to give me a gift like that?" he questioned, "What if I can't live up to it?"

Sir Nighteye stood up, pushing up his glasses. "Exactly. I don't understand why you chose this boy, All Might."

All Might groaned. "We've been through this. I chose him for several reasons, and it can't be changed now. Why don't you just wait."

The man made an irritated look, pausing before he sat.

"You knew about this, Nighteye?" Mirio questioned.

Nighteye ignored him, looking at the screen.

"I was on a long hunt for a worthy successor," All Might explained, "And then... I watched you jump into action as the rest of us stood idly by." A video of Midoriya running towards the sludge monster appeared on screen, showing what All Might was speaking of. "You may just be a quirkless fanboy, but you tried to save that kid. You acted like a hero."

Nighteye sighed, clenching his fist. I still don't understand your decision, All Might.

Tears pooled in Midoriya's eyes as he looked at All Might's outstretched hand, listening to his words of encouragement and praise.

"Seriously!" All Might laughed, jumping into a strange pose before slapping his shoulder. "You gotta stop crying so much if you want my quirk! C'mon kid."

"You do cry a lot, Midoriya," Kaminari laughed.

Jiro raised her brow. "Better than your constant complaining."

The boy grumbled in response, crossing his arms.

Midoriya gripped the fabric of his pants, tightly balling them up in his fist. He's said so much to encourage me. He even told me the secret behind his powers. He wiped away his tears, Is this... Is this what I've been waiting for all these years? How can I turn him down?

The boy stood, putting on a determined face. He met All Might's eyes, nodding. "Okay, I'll do it. Yes!"

"BRAVO!' Iida shouted, standing as he clapped. "BRAVOOO!"

Tetsutetsu stared at him, bewildered. "What is this guy doing?"

"That's just how he is," Sato sighed, shrugging.

All Might grinned. "No reluctance. That's exactly how I figured you'd respond.

But it wasn't that simple. Receiving All Might's power turned out to be no easy task..., as I'd soon find out.

"Actually, I have a question," Uraraka piped up.

Midoriya tilted his head. "Hm?"

"To Bakugou. Usually you'd try to attack someone or something. Or at least protest. But you don't seem to care all that much." Both boys, along with All Might, tensed at her mentioning the fact.
"Oh yeah," Kirishima agreed, his eyes widening. "Wait, did you already know, Bakubro?"

He made a Tch noise, glancing away.

"You did!" Iida gasped. "Midoriya, you told him?!"

Midoriya rubbed the back of his neck nervously. "Well uhm..."

Interrupting, I quieted all of them down. "We'll get into that later. For now, why don't we just pay attention to the show."

After a quick title card, the screen shifted to show 'Dagobah Municipal Beach," where Midoriya and All Might were.

Midoriya struggled on screen, where it revealed he was attempting to tug a fridge that All Might sat on top of.

"Hey, hey, hey!" All Might spoke to the boy, "It's pretty comfy up on this fridge-how are you doing down there?"

Midoriya continued to struggle, eventually collapsing into a heap with the rope that was attached to the large appliance.

"Oh, he died," Mineta said casually, easing the tension from earlier.

"People move these every day, you know," All Might said casually, "And most of them don't even have any super strength."

Groaning, Midoriya turned towards All Might. "Well, yeah, but there's an extra 600 pounds with you sitting on top of it."

"Nahhh!" All Might waved him off, "I've lost weight. I'm down to 560 these days. In this form, at least."

"Like that really makes a difference," Kaminari commented.

"It's a 40 pound difference, thank you!" All Might retorted.

The boy sighed. "Great, much better." He turned back towards the heaps of garbage, shooting All Might a questioning glance. "Why do you have me dragging trash across the beach, anyway?"

All Might simply laughed, snapping pictures of Midoriya. "Hahaha! Take a look at yourself. You're not ready for my power."

Tears began to gush out of Midoriya's eyes as he fell to the ground dejectedly. "But I thought you said I was worthy! AHHHHH!"

"Dude, you really need to calm down," Kirishima laughed.

"Yeah, sorry Midoriya," Mina stretched her hands over her head, "But you cry enough for the entire class."

Midoriya blushed, sighing. "I guess..."

"I'm talking about your weak body," he said, still taking pictures. Midoriya glanced up to look at the man, and All Might took that as his cue to continue. "My quirk, One For All, is a whole lot to handle! The combined physical abilities of everyone who's used it creates a hurricane of pure force." He glanced down at the boy, "An unprepared body can't fully inherit it. Your arms and legs," he said, a visual of Midoriya exploding appearing on screen, "Would shoot off if you tried to!"

Aizawa glared at the man. "All Might!"

All Might put his hands up defensively, eyes wide as he panicked. "Hey, hey! I knew if we did this he'd be fine! There was really no risk!"

"Okay, but why are you taking pictures of him crying?" Sato asked, causing everyone's sweat to drop.

"SERIOUSLY?!" Midoriya shouted, shaking his head back and forth as he moved his arms in a motion as if he were warming himself. "Ookay... So this whole trash thing is some kind of hardcore gym workout." He looked up at the man, "And... You're my trainer."

All Might gave him a thumbs up. "You got it!" He turned around, walking towards the fridge. "But there's another reason, too. I did a little online research yesterday. Turns out this part of the beach used to be beautiful. But it's been a total mess for the last few years." He finished, raising his fist and smacking it against the fridge.

"Oh, that makes sense," Iida nodded, "He'll be able to train while helping the environment."

"Actually," Hagakure commented, "I was wondering who cleaned that place up. Can't believe it was Midoriya."

"Uh, I don't think you meant it like that, but you kind of just insulted him," Sero said awkwardly.

Hagakure coughed. "Oh... Sorry!"

Midoriya stood up, glancing around the area. "That's right." Because of the ocean currents, anything that's dropped in the water ends up here. People take advantage of that when they're illegally dumping their trash. Now all the locals avoid this place.

"Heroes these days," All Might said a matter of factly, while smashing the fridge down, "Are all about showing off and capturing flashy villains. Things were different before quirks. Service is what mattered. Back then, heroes were those who helped the community! Even if it was kinda boring!" he finished, a burst of wind coming from the now-smashed fridge. The sunset behind it was revealed, along with a sparkling ocean. "You'll restore the coastline for this entire section of the beach." He looked up, connecting eyes with Midoriya. "That is the first step on your path, young man. Towards being a hero."

"I can see why Stain respected him so much," Todoroki whispered to himself.

Midoriya overheard, replying back. "Yeah, he's always been that way. Only makes sense for him to be recognized by someone like him."

Midoriya's eyes widened as he stared in awe at the man, before he spun around and took a look at all the trash. "A-all this?" The camera panned out, "But... There's so much! That's impossible!"

"Apparently not," Uraraka giggled, smiling at Midoriya.

All Might stood up, hand on his hip. "Young Midoriya, you wanna go to U.A., right?"

"Well yeah," Midoriya turned around to face him, "Of course. You went there, so it must be the best school around, right?" His cheeks tinted pink as he balled up his fists, a dreamy look in his eye. "It's a long shot, but still. I'm gonna shoot for the moon. U.A."

"Listen, Midoriya," Aizawa shot him a look, catching his attention, "I understand you're a big fan of All Might an everything, but you also need to figure out things by yourself. He won't always be there for you to rely on."

Midoriya nodded, saluting. "Y-yes, sir!"

"Youuu've got a lot of spirit, fanboy!" All Might laughed, resulting in a blush from the boy. He turned around after his comment, staring out into the sunset. "But! As I mentioned before, hero-ing isn't easy to do without a quirk. It's not fair, but that's the reality. And U.A. is the hardest hero course to get into. So that means..."

"Again, while unfortunate, this is true," Nezu commented.

Midoriya ran up to him. "That I have to prepare my body for your quirk really fast! U.A.'s exam is in ten months!"

"That's right... He had way less time than any of us to prepare," Yaoyorozu mentioned.

"And yet," Kaminari sighed, "He still passed."

"Not to worry kid!" All Might exclaimed, snatching up a stack of papers and tapping it. "I've got you covered! With the help of my handy aim-to-pass American dream plan!" The camera panned over the instructions, revealing several phases that planned out almost every moment of his life. "Follow this to the letter and the beach will be cleaned up just in time. I also detailed every other aspect of your life while I was at it."

Midoriya sifted through the papers, looking over the instructions. "Even my sleep is scheduled...," he mumbled, surprised.

"Jeez... That's tough...," Sato mumbled.

All Might snuck next to him, whispering. "If I'm being honest, this is going to be super hard. Think you're up to it?"

The boy tightened his grip on the papers, an uneasy yet determined look on his face. "Yeah, sure I am. I have to work way harder than anyone else to get in. So what choice do I have, right?"

"That's the spirit, Midoriya!" Mina encouraged.

The boy smiled at her. "Thanks, Ashido."

All Might nodded, cueing Midoriya's narration.

Just like that, I began ten months of absolute Hell. The screen showed Midoriya struggling to pull a large, metallic cabinet as a deflated All Might encouraged him.

"C'mon, put your back into it, Midoriya! It's not going to move itself!"

I'm using different muscle groups depending on the size and shape of the trash I'm hauling, Midoriya thought as he hauled a tire.

"Smart," Snipe commented.

Cementoss nodded. "Yes. It's admirable how he's constantly thinking and strategizing."

"Let's go, let's go! The clock is ticking! Ten months will be over before you know it!" All Might shouted. Midoriya fell to the ground, yet quickly picked himself back up. "Don't you give up! Time to go beyond!"

The screen quickly switched to Midoriya's school, where Midoriya looked on tiredly. So tired... But I gotta focus...

Midoriya lifted his pencil, glancing down at his notebook. He began taking notes on his training schedule, determined to pass the exam. It'd be better if I could finish cleanup a week before the exam. That means I've only got 294 days left. If I take recovery periods into account, assuming I'll be resting 2 days between each hard workout, then...

"Midoriya," Iida glanced over, "You should be focusing on schooling, as well. Not just your workouts."

Midoriya laughed nervously, rubbing his neck. "Yeah, figured that out soon enough."

The boy tapped his upper lip as he mumbled to himself, causing other students to stare. That gives me about 98 days of actual training. Even at my most efficient, I can only get in around 5 hours every night. That's 490 hours. I'll need to make sure I'm hitting every muscle group, so I need to pay attention to the type of work I'm doing on the beach every day. I could start sneaking in extra workouts and lifting weights on my own, I suppose. Yeah, yeah... That would help me focus my workouts and isolate specific muscles..., he rambled on, his teacher stretching his arm out at the boy.

"Hey, Midoriya!" he said, chopping the boy on the head.

"Did he really have to chop him on the head?" Thirteen asked.

"At least he's somewhat better than that other teacher," Ectoplasm mentioned.

"Yeah sure, he chopped his head and all that," Mina waved her hand, "But jeez, that's a lot of working out!"

Midoriya looked up, hands cupped over his mouth as he sat, embarrassed.

"I know you had a run-in with a villain," he said as other students laughed, "But pull yourself together, kid. If you really wanna get into U.A., you might actually have to know something!"

Oh right. I've got to study too.

Yaoyorozu looked over nervously. "Of course, Midoriya. You didn't know that?"

"I was too focused on my training, I guess," he laughed.

His classmates laughed and teased him.

"You hear him? Nuts!"

"Idiot...!"

"That's not very cash money of you!" Kaminari yelled.

Jiro sighed, putting here face in her hands. "Why, cruel world?" she complained, her voice muffled.

Bakugou, however, looked towards the window, seemingly annoyed.

"Woah, I assumed Bakugou would be teasing him too," Sato said, eyes wide.

"You know, I have a personality, I don't just yell all the time," Bakugou grumbled.

"That's the first I'd be hearing of it," Sero teased.

Midoriya bit his lip, feeling bad for the blonde. "Hey, maybe leave him alone, guys?"

The sun shone down on the beach as the scene switched, Midoriya attempting to push a tire. All Might looked on, doing some sort of awkward hand gesture before the screen switched again.

A sort of training montage began, in which he exercised, followed a strict food-plan, continued to think of strategy into the night, and worked tiredly at school.

At the end of the montage, the screen showed Midoriya carrying a heavy block, running after All Might. Suddenly, he collapsed onto the ground, forcing All Might to stop.

Aizawa figured out the issue easily. "He overworked himself."

Midoriya blushed, laughing nervously.

He sighed, "Hey, hey, kid! Look alive now! You've only got 3 months left! What, are you going to give up after all this work?! Wanna flush it all down the toilet and take it easy?!"

Midoriya panted, desperately clawing at the dirt as he attempted to stand. He inched forwards, barely able to move, proved by his body's shaking.

"You're overworked," All Might realized, "The aim-to-pass American dream plan was created with your body in mind. It was fine-tuned to ensure your progress was swift, but manageable." His eyes widened, "Which means... You haven't been sticking to it. You're overdoing things. That's gonna have the opposite effect of what we want!"

"Yes, students. While you need to work hard to improve, it's also important to take a break every now and then. Otherwise, you'll end up like this," Nezu informed.

"And," Aizawa added, "You'll act as more of a burden than a benefit." The man glanced over at Midoriya with an unchanging expression. "So don't do something like that again."

Midoriya nodded, apologizing.

The boy continued to breath heavily, clenching his fist as he laid face-first on the ground. "I have to work harder. Or I won't stand a chance against the other applicants." All Might let out a small gasp with Midoriya's words, and the boy lifted himself off the ground slowly. "I don't just want into U.A. I want to excel. I want... To be like you!"

"HE'S SO MANLY!" Kirishima and Tetsutetsu cried.

"Hey, it's actually been a while since they've done that," Kaminari commented.

"Well, they're right to cheer!" Mina exclaimed, "C'mon, Midoriya! Keep that fighting spirit!"

Midoriya struggled, digging his fingers into the ground as he struggled to raise himself up. "I want to be the greatest hero in the world," he said emotionally, connecting eyes with All Might. "So I'll keep on trying-I've got what it takes to do that!"

All Might's mind flashed with a memory of the boy. "I want people to see my fearless smile and feel safe. And be just like you!"

The man slightly smiled, enlarging himself. I've gotta hand it to the kid. He's given a lot of thought to the future.

"He really has," Midnight commented.

Snipe nodded, "The boy will likely prove to be a great hero one day."

"Well, it did say he'd become the world's greatest hero," Powerloader mentioned.

Now in his hero form, All Might picked Midoriya up by the back of his shirt as he hovered, somewhat limp. "Your fighting spirit's what I like about you, fanboy!" he pumped his arms up and down, "It's served you well! I do get your concerns. That said, now's not the time to go and rush progress!" He grinned, leaning into Midoriya's dead-tired face. "Fear not! I can get you back on track! Leave it to this old man to adjust your plan!"

"You're not an old man," Midoriya strained, "All Might."

Kaminari violently snorted, laughing. "That's great."

All Might let out a long chuckle before the camera panned up and shifted to night. The date was now several months later, on February 26th.

All Might got out of a truck as Midoriya began to narrate. And suddenly... It was the morning of the exam. The man walked through the parking lot, glancing up when he heard a shout from what seemed like Midoriya.

His eyes widened, the camera panning up to show Midoriya standing atop a pile of trash, proudly yelling at the sky. Sweat dripped down his now-muscled body as the sun rose.

"HOLY, HE'S RIPPED!" Nejire shouted, embarrassing Tamaki.

"Midoriya!" Mina exclaimed, "You never told us this!"

Said boy blushed, his face almost entirely red. "Uh..."

"Hey, hey, kid!" he awed, "You even cleaned up outside the area I told you to! Seriously! There's not one speck of trash left on this beach!" He stared up, grinning. "Only a few minutes to spare... But you exceeded my expectations!" The man transformed into his hero-self, yelling out a strange line.

Midoriya wavered, falling off the pile of trash. All Might quickly sped over, catching the boy in his arms as he smiled proudly.

"Woah, must have been tiring," Sero mumbled.

"Yeah, but didn't he say it was the day of exams? How was he not extremely tired after that?" Ojiro questioned.

Several people looked over to Midoriya, who simply shrugged.

"Excellent work!"
Midoriya weakly smiled, incredibly tired. "I finished everything. All Might, I did it. Do you think I'm ready now?"

"Yeah, you did good kid," All Might praised, setting the boy down. "I gotta say, I'm impressed. I knew you had it in you, but this is beyond! Heh."

"That's our Deku!" Uraraka exclaimed.

Iida smiled, joining in on her cheer. "Yes, good on you, Midoriya!"

Midoriya grinned as well. "Thanks guys..."

All Might pulled out his phone, which was incredibly small compared to his hand. The screen showed a picture of Midoriya from 10 months prior, crying.

"Look at this," All Might showed the boy, "It's you. Crying, ten months ago!" The camera panned down Midoriya's body, revealing that he had developed muscle. "Look how far you've come! Such improvement!

"Oh, so that's what it was for," Sato said.

Tsuyu tilted her head. "Wow, Midoriya. You really must've worked hard to come that far. I mean, you did pass out, but still. Ribbit."

Blunt as ever.

The man shot his arms to the side, palms faced towards the sky as the camera zoomed out. "There's still a long road ahead of you before you can inherit my full power set. But it's starting to look like you can do it!"

Midoriya smiled, raising his hand to his face. "All Might...," he whispered, "Do I deserve this? Are you sure?" He paused, All Might looking up to face the boy. "You put so much time and energy into helping me." Tears pooled in his eyes, emotions bubbling up inside. "How did I end up so lucky?"

"How are you still worried about that?" Kaminari asked.

"Seriously dude," Sero laughed, "You had been training with him for 10 months already. I can't believe you'd even think that."

Gran Torino sighed. It's because he's just like All Might.

All Might laughed. Are you really worried about that after all these months?

"Exactly!" Sero exclaimed.

He patted the boy's back, resting his hand. "It was your hard work that did this-not mine. Now," he changed the subject, "For your reward, Izuku Midoriya!"

Midoriya grinned, "Yes, sir!"

Uraraka pumped her fist into the air, cheering for her friend. "Go, Deku!"

All Might plucked a hair from his head, twirling it with his fingers. "Someone told me this once. That there's a difference between being lucky and deserving. One is an accident, the other a reward. Never get the two confused!" Midoriya looked up, connecting eyes with the large man. "Take that to heart, young man. This gift. You've earned it with your own valiant efforts."

"Wait. Wait why does he have a hair?" Mineta shuddered.

Midoriya nodded, curling his fingers into a fist. And so... I held out my weak, quirkless hands... And grabbed the future!

All Might reached his arm out, hair still in his grasp. "Eat this."
Midoriya's expression turned to one of shock. "Huh?"

The theater became silent for a moment before bursting out into laughter.

"Why does he need to eat that?!" Kaminari laugh-shouted.

Aizawa, along with the rest of the teachers, gave the man a sideways glance.

All Might blushed. "Uhm..."

The man rubbed the back of his neck nervously. "To inherit my power, you've got to swallow some of my DNA! That's how it works!"

"I guess it makes sense," Yaoyorozu mumbled to herself.

"This isn't exactly how I imagined it!" Midoriya panicked.

Sato raised his brow. "I can't imagine anyone would."

"Come on, there's no time!" All Might shouted, "You'll be late for the exam!" With each of his next words, Midoriya screamed between them. "Eat! Eaat! EAAAT!"

Once again, several students began laughing, entertained by All Might's shouts as Midoriya became frightened.

After the strange ordeal, the time skipped to the exams.

Students walked in as Midoriya came to the gate, breathing heavily. "I made it just in time," he mumbled to himself, pausing for a moment before continuing.

He stared up at the building, stretching out his backpack straps uneasily. I was so worried about missing the exam that I didn't have a chance to test out my new power...

Kirishima rubbed the back of his neck. "Woah, yeah. I forgot you got it the day of the exams."

Sero sighed. "You got it just that day and passed. And not only that, but you're one of the most powerful kids in the class."

Midoriya's stomach turned, his hand cupping over his mouth as he remembered what All Might made him do to inherit the power. "I may have swallowed the hair," he mumbled annoyedly, "But I don't feel like anything great has happened to me yet."

"Stupid Deku," a voice said from behind him. Midoriya quickly turned around, noticing Bakugou coming his way.

Bakugou, the entire theater thought before he even came on screen.

"Kaachan!"

He narrowed his eyes at Midoriya, continuing on his path. "Get out of my way now before I set you on fire."

"Really, dude?" Kaminari sighed.

Midoriya panicked, waving his hands around. "Oh hey, good morning! Let's both just do our best out there okay?! Good luck!"

Upon realizing that Bakugou just walked past him, Midoriya turned around, confused. Students began whispering about the blonde, speaking of his encounter with the sludge villain.

Ever since that day..., he thought back to the attack, Kaachan's been taking it easier on me. Midoriya sighed, leaning over. I guess I was just scared out of habit.

"Oh, so that's it," Sato mumbled.

"Maybe he doesn't think he can bully him as much because Midoriya helped to save him," Tsuyu suggested.

Bakugou sighed. "Yeah, whatever."

Shaking his head, Midoriya spun around, facing the exam center. But I'm not defenseless anymore... Yeah! I have to remember all the work I put in. His legs wobbled as he walked forwards, Thanks to All Might, I'm actually going to be a hero.

As he walked, the boy caught his foot on the other, beginning to fall. Orrr I'll just die.

"That's great," Kaminari laughed.

Suddenly, Midoriya found himself floating in the air, a girl with brown hair standing next to him.

"Heh! Are you okay?" Uraraka asked.

"Hey, it's Uraraka!" Mina exclaimed.

Midoriya began panicking as he floated, scrambling around in the air. Uraraka giggled, helping him down.

"I stopped you with my quirk," she smiled, "I'm sorry I didn't ask first! But!" she tilted her head, "I figured you wouldn't mind me catching you." Midoriya stared at her as she continued speaking. "Isn't this all like, way nerve-racking?"

Sero laughed, "I think Midoriya's too busy being awkward to respond."

"Heh...," Midoriya blushed.

Midoriya's cheeks tinted pink as he nervously stuttered, awkwardly moving around. "Uh... I uh..."

"Well," Uraraka said, "I guess I'll see you inside!" She turned, waving back to him. "Bye!"

Midoriya accidentally made a terrifying face, smiling. Oh, woah! I just talked to a girl, he lied to himself. ("Didn't actually talk.")

"Dude, you didn't even talk to her!!" Sato chuckled.

Mina shifted her arms in a small dancing motion. "I sense some rooomaance!"

Uraraka blushed, her entire face heating up as she glanced at Midoriya, who was doing the same. Upon noticing each other looking, they looked away, trying to avoid an awkward glance.

The boy laughed happily before the screen switched, showing a strange theater-like place. The lights flicked on, a screen with a large "U.A." symbol behind a man with tall, blonde hair.

"What's up, U.A. candidates? Thanks for tuning into me-your school DJ!" He spread his hands out, grinning. "C'mon and let me hear ya!" The man turned his head to the side, hand cupped over his ear. However, there was complete silence in response to his words.

While several people felt bad, Aizawa turned over to Present Mic, tossing him a small smirk.

Present Mic sighed, crossing his arms. "Those kids were no fun!"

Present Mic gave up after a moment, still smiling. "Keepin' it mellow, huh? That's fine-I'll skip straight to the main show!" He turned towards the audience, "Let's talk about how this practical exam is going to go down, okay?" A flashy yellow background appeared behind him as he shot his arm into the air, shouting. "ARE YOU REAADAAY?!"

Once again, he was met with complete silence. However, Midoriya sat in the stands, fanboying about the hero. "Present Mic! So cool!" he gushed. "I listen to his radio show every day of the week! It's so crazy nuts that all the U.A. teachers are pro heroes!"

"At least you got one fan," Kaminari shrugged.

"But it's the fanboy! He likes everyone!" the man whined.

Aizawa gave him a sideways glance. "Appreciate what you've got."

Todoroki and Yaoyorozu, along with the 2 recommendations from 1B, curiously eyed the screen while others were talking, as they hadn't experienced the exam.

Bakugou sighed. "Will you shut up?"

Present Mic raised his arm, "Like your application said, today you rockin' boys and girls will be out there conducting 10-minute mock battles in super hip urban settings!" The screen switched to show the different areas, labelled A-G. "After I drop off the mic here, you'll head to your specified battle centers-sound good?" After being met by silence, Present Mic shouted out, only to be denied again. "Okaaaay?!"

Each of the students glanced down at their cards, reading them thoroughly.

"I see," Bakugou glanced over to Midoriya's card, "They're splitting us up so we can't work with any of our friends."

Sero blinked. "Did he just call Midoriya his friend?"

"I think he did," Sato said, surprised.

Bakugou rolled his eyes. "It was just a statement. Don't read into it."
"Yeah, you're right," Midoriya commented, "Our examinee numbers are one after the other, but we're assigned to different battle centers."

Bakugou glared at the boy. "Get your eyes off my card." He sighed, glancing down. "I was really looking forward to crushing you."

"Nevermind," Sero mumbled.
Midoriya nervously laughed at his comment, and the two remained silent until Present Mic began to speak again.

"Okay, okay! Let's check out your charts! There are 3 types of faux villains in every battle center," he explained, "You'll earn points based on their level of difficulty-so better choose wisely!"

The screen displayed the robots that they'd be battling before displaying a quick demonstration video of what it'd be like.

"So that's what they did," Todoroki mumbled to himself. "I knew they fought robots, but..."

"Your goal in this trial is to use your quirk to raise your score by shredding these faux villains like a midsong guitar solo!" He turned towards the audience, raising his finger. "But check it! Make sure you keep things heroic! Attacking other examinees is a U.A. no-no, ya dig?" he said, wagging his finger.

A boy stood up, hand raised. "Excuse me sir, but I have a question."

"Hit me!" Present Mic shouted back.

"Oh no. I know that voice," Sero groaned.

Iida turned away, coughing awkwardly.

A spotlight appeared on the boy, who was revealed to be Iida, where he pointed his finger at the battle card. "On the printout, you've listed four types of villains, not three. With all respect, if this is an error on official U.A. materials, it is shameful." He put the paper down, beginning to preach. "We are exemplary students. We expect the best from Japan's most notable school. A mistake such as this won't do. Additionally," he pointed at Midoriya, "You with the unkempt hair. You've been muttering this entire time. Stop that. If you can't bother to take this seriously, then leave. You're distracting the rest of us."

"Iida, you need to lighten up," Kaminari laughed.

"Seriously, though," Jiro said.

The boy stood up, bowing. "I apologize!"

Kaminari sighed. "This is exactly what we mean!"
Midoriya embarrassedly covered his mouth while other students laughed. "Sorry..."

"Alright, alright," Present Mic waved his arms, "Examinee #7111! Thanks for calling in with your request!" The screen zoomed into the fourth villain as Present Mic explained, pointing at the image. "The fourth villain type is worth 0 points! That guy's just an obstacle we'll be throwing in your way. There's one in every battle center. Think of it as a hurdle you should try to avoid! It's not that it can't be beaten. There's... Kinda no point." He raised his arm into the air, palm facing towards the sky. "I suggest my listeners try to ignore it and focus on the ones on top of the charts!"

"Well, that didn't happen," Iida mentioned casually.

Kirishima leaned forwards. "What are you talking about?"

"Oh, right. Many of you weren't there. Mi-"

I cut Iida off. "Hey, no spoilers!"

"Thank you very much," Iida bowed. "Please, continue."

"Oh, I get it," one student compared, "They're kinda like traps you have to get by in games."

The boy next to him replied, "The whole thing's like a video game, huh?"

"You could say that," Ojiro shrugged.

Present Mic did a static version of jazz hands. "That's all I got for you today! I'll sign you off with a sample of our school motto! As General Napoleon Bonaparte once laid down, a true hero is one who overcomes life's misfortunes. Mhhhm. Now that's a tasty soundbyte!" He grinned menacingly, the camera zooming into his face. "You ready to go beyond?"

Aizawa raised his brow. "Napoleon?"

In response, the announcer simply shrugged.

The man raised his arms in the air, 'Plus Ultra' written across the screen. "Let's hear a Plus Ultra!" After no response, Present Mic simply shouted, "Good luck! Hope you practiced more than hitting just books!"

"Midoriya sure was," Jiro joked.

Midoriya stood in front of the gates that led to the battle center, the camera panning over the students. Well, this is it. Time to put ten months of training with All Might to the test. Time to give it my all! Midoriya's body betrayed him, shaking as he stood. I will become a hero. Just like I always dreamed. I won't let myself down!

"For someone who sounds so confident, you sure are shaking a lot, Midoriya," Tsuyu said bluntly.

Midoriya shrugged. "I was pretty nervous."

The boy slapped himself, attempting to shoo away his nerves. And with that, the outro began.

"Nooo!" Kaminari complained, "I was hoping to see the fights!"

"Uh... It's probably just in the next episode," Sato said.

Kaminari calmed down, sweat drops appearing on everyone's head. "Oh yeah."
