like father like daughter
AS SOON AS Stiles, Scott and Allison had gone limp in the ice baths, Hope had felt an immense feeling of guilt cloud over her. It was unavoidable, and she knew Lydia and Isaac were feeling it too.
"Now what?" Isaac asked, running a hand through his mop of curls as he took a step backwards, away from Scott's still body. It was strange how pale the usually tan boy looked. It scared Hope seeing him appear so lifeless.
"That is actually kind of scary to look at, to be honest," Caroline whispered.
"We wait," Deaton answered simply.
Hope's eyebrows furrowed together, "for how long?"
"That depends," Deaton replied, screwing the cap to one of his many jars and placing it on another jar, "but don't worry, Hope, they'll be fine."
"How can they be fine, man?!" Kaleb exclaimed, "they're practically dying!"
"Yeah..." MG nodded, crossing his arms. "And dying is no fun."
Hope stated at him in disbelief. He was honestly so infuriating, but knew he meant good. She then took in a breath and sat down on a chair, looking away from Stiles' body which greatly reminded her of everyone she has lost.
Everyone that knows her past, felt so bad for her and what she had gone through.
Hayley was clutching Klaus' hand like it's a lifeline. She hates seeing her daughter so affected by everything.
Lydia noticed the distressed look on her best friends face and walkover over to her, running her hand through her long auburn hair.
Enzo rose a brow.
Caroline grinned at his look.
Bonnie smiled, "they're so cute."
Hope sighed and laid her cheek on Lydia's hand which landed on her shoulder. "I'm scared, Lyds, and I don't like admitting that."
"They'll be fine," the strawberry blonde stated, sounding like she was trying to reassure herself too. "They have to be."
Isaac looked over at them. "You'll sense something if it goes wrong, right?" He asked Lydia who shrugged in response. "Oh, well, that's good." He then made his way over to Hope who looked like she was losing herself at the thought of her friends dying. "Hey. We're here and we're going to make sure they come back." He crouched in front of her and placed his hands on her knees. "You trust me, right?" He grinned up at her, his dimples showing through.
Lizzie couldn't help but swoon. To have someone that thoughtful and caring... it would be a dream come true for her. She swallowed and looked over at Jen who bumped her shoulder against hers.
"You good, dude?" The tiny redhead asked with a head tilt.
Lizzie smiled but it didn't quite reach her eyes. "Yeah, I'm good."
Jen chewed on her bottom lip and scooted a little closer to the blonde. Lizzie is a mystery to her... and she loves mysteries.
She slowly nodded. "Of coursed, Isaac. You're one of my closest friends." She offered him a small smile and ruffled up his hair before taking in a deep breath. "I just... I don't want to lose anyone else. I don't know what I would do if I lost anyone in this room. You're all my friends. My... pack."
Hayley smiled and held a hand to her heart. She loves to hear her daughter talk like this. It's refreshing after knowing everything she has been through.
Klaus — even though he's pretty much been an omega his entire life — loves this for his daughter. She has people she loves and who loves her both. That means she has people that will stand behind her and fight with her... fight for her. It means she's protected and cared for, which is what he has wished for her since before she was brought into this world.
Lydia and Isaac glanced to one another before the strawberry blonde crouched down, too. They both grabbed one of Hope's hands and made her look at them both.
"Awww this trio!" Caroline exclaimed.
"Precious," Elena smiled, leaning her head on Damon's shoulder.
"We're pack, right? And we would never let anything happen to any one of us, right? So, listen to us that we will do everything in our power to make sure they come back to us."
Hope took in a deep breath and nodded. "Alright." Though, that didn't help the sinking feeling in her gut.
The only sounds that filled the animal clinic were their breathing and it was slowly driving Hope insane.
"I, uh, I need to get some air." She stood up and moved away from them. She made her way outside and looked up at the sky. "Please don't let me lose them. Please. I cant lose anyone else."
Everyone's heart broke for her — yes, even Stefan and Katherine's for the first time.
Enzo already felt some sort of kinship towards this girl he has only known for like twenty minutes.
HOURS LATER, Hope sat on a table that was nearby where Stiles still laid under water. She chewed at her nails, not caring that she was ruining them. All she cared about right now was whether or not Stiles was gonna pop out of that bathtub.
Hayley sighed a little, shaking her head. "I tried so hard to break her from that habit."
"To make you feel better, most of the time she resorts to destruction of property rather than chewing on her nails when she was at the school," Lizzie stated with a shrug.
Hayley stared at her and blinked once while the others — mainly Kol — laughed and snorted.
Klaus grinned. "That's my girl." He let out a laugh when Hayley slapped the back of his head.
It's been hours, almost a whole day and she couldn't control the thoughts that came to mind as she watched their almost lifeless bodies.
And right when she was about to explode, and possibly strangle Deaton to death, the three of them shot up from the ice water, struggling to find warmth as their teeth chattered together.
A few people couldn't help but gasp and jump in surprise. It happened too fast to process.
"Stiles!" Hope jumped off of the table and ran towards Stiles, pulling him into a hug, not caring that he was dripping wet. "Thank god!"
He stumbled back in surprise before wrapping his arms around her smaller body, smiling at her worry.
"Awww," Caroline cooed.
Lizzie rose a brow, appreciating the way the wet shirt clung to Stiles' chest.
"Damn," Bonnie whistled. "Who knew he had that much muscle under all those baggy clothes."
"It's hot," Jen stated and shrugged when Lizzie snapped her head in her direction. "I might he strictly into women, but that doesn't mean I don't have eyes."
Rebekah grinned. "No wonder my niece likes him so much."
Davina chewed on her bottom lip. "He really is fit."
Kol slowly turned to stare at her. "Excuse me, what did I hear my beautiful wife say?"
Davina rolled her eyes fondly at her idiot of a husband. "Don't worry, I only have eyes for you."
Clarke couldn't help but also appreciate Stiles. He figured the boy would be made like a stick, almost like his brother.
"I saw it! I know where it is," Scott rushed out, his eyes fixated on Deaton.
Stiles nodded from where he was hugging Hope. "Yeah, we passed it," he added, taking in a breath. "There was this stump - this huge tree. Well, it's not huge anymore. It was cut down. But it's still big, though. Very big."
Hope's thought went a different and bad route — yeah, and it's not the only thing that's big.
Multiple people either choked on their food, drinks or saliva at that.
Klaus scowled and narrowed his eyes — eyes that flashed gold for a split second.
When it was silent for just a second, a loud laughter and wheezing noise was heard. They all turned around to Kol who fell to the floor, wheezing so hard others thought he would hurst a lung. He started slapping at the floor at this point.
Lizzie bursted out laughing at his reaction, and soon they were laughing so hard no noises were coming out of their mouth.
Enzo rose a brow and made eye contact with Davina. They both looked concerned and done with the two laughing hyenas on the floor.
She could feel his bulging arms twitching on her body as she moved to stand beside him, one around still wrapped around his waist.
"Oh," Caroline whispered before snorting. "Oh my god. The previous thought was about his arms!" She exclaimed in hysterical laughter.
Others joined in laughter at that point.
"It was the night we were looking for the body," Scott pointed out to Stiles.
"Yeah, the same night you were bit by Peter," Stiles explained, the memories of that night rushing back to the surface.
Allison, who had been standing silently off to the side, found herself speaking up, "I was there, too, in the car with my mother. We almost hit someone."
"It was me. You almost hit me," Scott spluttered, surprise written on his wet complexion as he stared at his ex-girlfriend. He then turned to look at Deaton, "We can find it."
"Huh... fate," Freya whispered.
Deaton didn't say anything, he just frowned and looked down at the floor.
Hope moved in front of Stiles again, this time, trying to not look at his tones chest which was seen through his now tight and wet shirt. She looked up into his eyes, frowning deeply.
"She's just like the rest of us," Bonnie giggled.
Landon chewed on the inside of his cheek as he wrapped his arms around his stomach, feeling self conscious.
Kaleb nodded and licked his lips. "I can't help but appreciate the abs, as well."
MG nodded in agreement, making himself comfortable on the floor with a blanket and a really big soft pillow.
At this point, Kol had crawled until he was sprawled over the back of Lizzie's big ass bean bag chair. He laid his chin on her head and she fondly rolled her eyes at him.
Enzo rose a brow at the two of them, something tightening in his chest.
Damon couldn't help but stare at Enzo, recognizing the look on his ex-friends expressions. Jealousy. And it's weird to see that in someone's face who has only known everyone in this room for maybe twenty something minutes.
Allison's voice had been the first one to break the silence, wondering why they all looked as though something terrible had occurred. "What?"
Isaac's eyes were wide and bloodshot in sleepiness and worry. "You guys were out a long time."
"How long is a long time?" Stiles asked, his voice shaking as he spoke. He looked down at Hope, their eyes catching. "Hope?"
"Sixteen hours," she murmured, biting her bottom lip. It was a hard sixteen hours. She had a small breakdown where she threw a chair across the room, threatened to hex Deaton, and then had to be calmed down by Isaac and Lydia. Other than that, they were all filled with worry so they didn't even get a wink of sleep.
Elijah rose a brow. "She really is your daughter," he aimed that at both Hayley and Klaus.
Scott's eyes immediately widened, his heart started to hammer violently against his ribcage. They were only supposed to be out for a few seconds, not sixteen hours.
"That's actually really terrifying, considering they were practically dead," Freya frowned. "And being dead for even a short of time will bring enough consequences. Sixteen hours? That's going to be... unforeseeable consequences."
"And the full moon rises in less than four," Deaton spoke up, looking between them all.
Scott shook his head softly to himself, "I need to get back to Deucalion."
Stiles' eyes widened at his words, moving away from Hope to step in front of his best friend. "No, dude. You are not going back with them."
Hope nodded along and moved to step forward in front of Scott, crossing her arms. "He's right."
"I made a deal with Deucalion," Scott explained simply.
"Does anyone else think that sounds a lot like a deal with the devil?" Stiles asked, holding his arms out as he looked at all of them.
From behind Hope, Isaac questioned, "Why does it matter anyway?"
"Because," Scott began, "I still don't think that we can beat Jennifer without their help." He glanced to Hope who looks ready to pass out because of the lack of sleep mixing in with the mistletoe that was slowly leaving her system.
Klaus shook his head, inhaling and exhaling deeply. "She needs to sleep."
Hayley nodded in agreement.
Freya is chewing nervously on her bottom lip. She couldn't help but think that Hope forgets that she is the first born witch, meaning she's got an uncontrollable amount of powers, and not taking care of herself will cause it to explode. That, and she's worried about what is going to happen with the three teens that just died and came back to life.
Allison's lips pulled up into a sneer, refusing to believe that her ex-boyfriend was honestly believing that Deucalion could help them. Turning to Deaton, she said, "He trusts you more than anyone. Tell him he's wrong."
"Says the one who has betrayed them... how many times now?" Rebekah scowled.
Klaus rose a brow, "forgetting that you once betrayed me, sister,"
Rebekah scowled. "Yeah, I can never forget that time because I regret it all the time." She swallowed thickly. "She had no reason to turn her back on her friends any of the times she did."
Marcel frowned and looked down, hating that he once played a part in the betrayal that Klaus speaks of.
"God, and here I thought my family drama was bad," Clarke mumbled with a shake of his head.
"Nothing could be worse than Mikaelson drama, mudman," Kol stated with a grin when he summoned a big bean bag chair and leaned back in it. It happened to be placed directly behind Lizzie and Jen. He then turned his head and wiggled his brows at his wife who shook her head and chuckled. She got up and walked over to him, and then plopped in the bean bag chair with a light thud, landing right beside him. He wrapped his arms around his wife, kissing her head with a cheeky grin.
"I'm not so sure he is," Deaton pointed out, shrugging his shoulders a little. "Circumstances like this sometimes require that you align yourself with people you'd normally consider enemies."
"The enemy of my enemy is my friend," Klaus said, crossing his arms.
Clarke couldn't help but think about that quote. His father was his enemy, and Hope was his father's enemy. Instead of being a terrified little brat who did his father's bidding, he should've aligned himself with Hope and teamed up to take down his father.
Hope frowned, knowing that makes a lot of sense and that Deucalion could be useful as a plan b just in case something else goes wrong. Maybe they could use him to distract Jeniffer. "Although that makes sense, don't tell me that you're saying to trust him."
"She really thinks too much like you, Klaus," Hayley said and shook her head in exaggeration when he simply smirked.
"I wouldn't trust him, no," Deaton denied, "But you could use him to your advantage. Deucalion may be the enemy, but he could also be the bait."
The conversation had been cut short when the bell to the front door of the clinic chimed, signaling that another person had come into the clinic uninvited.
Deaton glanced at the six teenagers in confusion before he slowly exited the room; the teenagers found themselves following behind him.
Suddenly, an all too familiar voice rang out.
"I'm looking for Lydia."
"Hmm.... No." Caroline pursed her lips.
Hope rose a brow and glanced to Stiles who tensed up at the voice.
Lydia glanced to Hope, and went to make her way beside Deaton. And, of course, Hope being protective of her friend, she went with her.
The rest of them found themselves behind the veterinarian as they stood in the waiting room, watching as Ethan stared at Lydia.
"What do you want?" Hope asked, her voice guarded. She didn't like how the Alpha came just for Lydia.
Bonnie shook her head. "Me neither."
"I need your help," Ethan explained, refusing to look anywhere else but at Lydia.
"I don't trust this," Klaus stated.
Stiles came from the back, and went to stand in front of them, his shoulders tense. "With what?" He demanded, his hands clenching at his side.
"Stopping my brother and Nyx," Ethan began, "from killing Derek."
"Hope won't allow anyone to hurt Derek," Rebekah looked confident in that fact.
THE WIND HIT up against Stiles jeep Roscoe, sending it rocking from side to side.
Hope gripped the edges of the seat, her nails digging into the leather material. "Stiles," she shakily spoke, knowing why this storm was happening. The boy in questioned turned to her for a split second before putting all his attention on the road, or what he could see of it. "It's starting."
Everyone was either sitting forward in their seats or their bean bag chairs in anticipation and fear.
"I-I know", he mumbled, and even though she had slight heightened hearing, she could barely hear what he said from how loud the storm was raging from outside the vehicle. "Just — just hold on. We're almost there."
Just as he said those words, the jeep swerved and they hit a tree.
Hope's head flung sideways, hitting the window just as a shattering noise was heard and a slight pain went through her shoulder.
"No!" Klaus growled. "That boy needs to learn how to drive!"
"It's not his fault," Davina said with a scowl.
Groaning, she sat up, her eyesight blurry.
For an instant, she thought they were okay, but then she looked over at Stiles, his head laying slump on the steering wheel. She went to reach towards him but she winced when she moved. She looked down and what she saw made her eyes widen. A branch had the audacity to impale her shoulder.
Lizzie snorted. "The audacity or that branch!"
"How dare it," Kaleb said with a tsk.
"Disappointed in that branch," MG said with a shake of his head.
"Guys, don't joke, she's hurt," Josie said with a frown.
"She'll be fine, Jo. She's been through worse than a simple branch impaling her."
Enzo quietly said, "the audacity of it too."
Lizzie snorted and high fived him.
"Crap," she grasped out, her eyesight slowly fading in and out. Between no sleep for like two days straight, the mistletoe, and now the wound, she couldn't stay awake any longer.
Taking in a shaky breath, her vision went black and she passed out as the storm continued on outside.
Everyone was worried.
This wasn't good. At all.
HOPE DIDN'T KNOW how long they were out, but she woke up with a killer headache. Groaning, she reached up to her forehead, and pulled away to notice some dried blood, meaning at least that wound healed up.
But — she looked down at the branch on her shoulder and winced — she still had a this slight inconvenience.
"Stupid branch, she snapped under her breath and and then slowly wrapped her hands around it. "One, two, three—" She pulled at the branch, and hissed loudly as pain shot throughout her, feeling like lava was in her veins. "Crap!" She shouted and pulled at it with even more might than before. "Come on!" She couldn't help but scream as the branch slid throughout her shoulder before finally being yanked out. "Fuck!"
"Yuck!" Caroline shivered in disgust and discomfort.
"That did not look like fun," retorted Kol.
She threw the branch on the dashboard and leaned forward, taking in deep breaths as the wound slowly but surely began healing.
"Hope?" The sleepy voice of Stiles whispered as he looked to his right, seeing her hunched over with blood covering her shirt. "No!" He shouted, his voice cracking and his heart feeling like it was shattering at the sight.
"Aw, wait, stop," Caroline adverted her head from everyone as she wiped away the tears that escaped her eye.
Damon and Elena tightened their hold on each others hands.
But, then she flinched and looked over at him with tears running down her cheek from the pain. "Hey," she murmured weakly and breathed out. "Are you okay?"
Although he was happy and relieved that she was alive and saying something, the worry for her safety was still there. "And I okay? You're the one covered in blood."
"He's just so perfect," Bonnie whispered with a small smile. He's always going to put Hope above everyone else, that much is already clear. Even over himself.
She winced as she looked down at her shirt and her slowly healing wound. "I'll be fine in a minute or so. What about you?" She reached forward and gently touched the flesh around his head wound. He hissed and pulled back slightly. "I can heal tha—"
"They're the cutest," gushed Elena. "He worries over her and she worries over him. I love it."
"No," he shook his head, not letting her finish her sentence. "You need to save your energy." His eyes then widened and he jumped in his seat a little. "My dad!"
Hope quickly pushed her door open at the same time Stiles did. She stumbled a little but gained her balance as he reached her side.
"We need to find them!"
They ventured into the woods, but it was hard to see due to the rain, rapid winds, and lightening.
But, luckily, Stiles recognized the area. "This way, Hope!" He called over the raging winds, running through the woods.
Together, they ran towards the Nemeton which hummed in the tribrid's closeness, and it seemed like it was telling her to come closer.
But, screams of fear could be heard, gaining their attention.
Quickly the two teenagers run over to the tree. The hole in the ground gave away what was happening.
Jennifer must have been keeping the parents underground, and now the ground was caving in on itself.
Hope jumped into the hole, not even caring about her own well-being. She just wanted to save the others.
Closely behind, Stiles jumped in, too.
Assessing the scene in front of them, they noticed that they were all trying to hold a support beam up, but it was becoming too heavy.
"It's too heavy..." Allison groaned loudly before Stiles slipped his bat under the beam, stopping it from falling.
When Sheriff Stilinski noticed his son, a large smile appeared on his face. "I always said aluminum was better than wood." The two of them shared a warm hug.
"That's what I have been saying!" Kol exclaimed, pointing at the screen excitedly.
"You and your fascination with bats," Rebekah shook her head at her brother in exasperation.
Hope could feel her werewolf side being tamed by the moon, and along with that feeling, the affects of the mistletoe went away completely. She felt healthy and strong, and she felt her magic come back completely.
Klaus nodded. "Good."
Suddenly, the wild storm outside abruptly stopped, and the wind stilled.
"Is it over?" Allison questioned with furrowed brows.
Before anything could be said, Hope's phone began ringing. She took it out of her pocket, and answered, "Scott?"
"Hey, are you okay?"
"Yeah, we're okay." Her blue eyes glanced over at everyone, and she noticed how tired and sweaty Isaac looked. "We're all okay. How about you? You okay?"
"Sort of," Scott stated with a sigh.
Hope furrowed her brows. "Nyx? Deucalion? What happened to them?"
"Deucalion ran off after slicing Jennifer's neck, and then she just disappeared. Not only that, Nyx got away and is hellbent on finding you," he informed her, worry seeping through his voice.
"Oh, come on!" Caroline exclaimed, sounding exhausted. "Why can't they get a damn break?!"
Enzo, himself, looked worried.
Klaus growled. "This Nyx person has a death wish."
Hope rolled her eyes and let out a breath. "What else is new?" She sighed and looked around to find a way out. "We'll meet up with you soon." With that, she hung up the phone and took in a deep breath, channeling as much energy as she possibly could. "Okay. I can do this."
Closing her eyes, she imagined the vines wrapping around everyone's waists and pulling them out of the ground. "Crescrere Arbor!" She shouted meaningfully in the air, and the wind picked up, blowing everyone's hair out of their faces.
Stiles let out a loud squeak as veins wrapped around him and started to lift him up. "Wow! Wow! Slow down! What's happening? Hope! Hope! What's going on? Are you doing this?!"
The super squad doubled over in laughter at the hilarious scene.
Bonnie stared in awe at the sight.
Hope couldn't help a giggle escaping her as everyone else didn't react too much when the vines wrapped around them. Well, other than Noah who was shocked at the strange event and the power she possesses.
And suddenly, they were all on the ground, staring up at the big and bright moon.
"A little warning could've saved me from freaking out!" Stiles exclaimed as he stood up and faced Hope who was smiling at him. "What? Is there something on my face?"
Caroline grinned. "Now kiss."
She shook her head fondly at him before her eyes widened at the person who stood behind him. "Nyx!"
"No!" The trio that is Bonnie, Caroline, and Elena shouted.
"Stay back, bitch," Lizzie growled out.
Kol shrugged. "Hope is going to kick her ass."
"You stupid witch!" Nyx screamed and seeing and Stiles was the closest to her, she grabbed him, and threatened to dig her claws into his neck. "You took my sister away from me and now Deucalion has abandoned me! And now it's my turn to take something away from you!"
Everyone was as still as statues, barely even breathing.
Noah went to jump forward to save his son, but Hope held out her hand to him, a determined and furious expression taking over her features.
"Let him go and maybe I'll reconsider ripping out your spleen," Hope spat out through clenched teeth, her heart pounding against her chest in fear of what might happen to Stiles.
Kol smirked, proud of the threat.
Nyx rose her brows and then looked at the human in her arms. "Hmm. A human. That's what makes you weak? A pathetic human who can't handle his own?" She scoffed and then chuckled darkly. "I thought you... the almighty witch... would choose someone that's actually worthy."
"He is worthy, you bitch!" Caroline shouted.
Enzo stared in shock at the words, especially the fierceness that is Caroline Forbes.
Klaus grinned. "She thinks my daughter is just a witch... she's in a rude awakening when my daughter gets her hands on her."
Hope began to growl in anger, the word of Nyx mixing with Stiles' broken look made her want to lash out. But, she needs to calm down and think this through so that Stiles gets out without a scratch. "You better watch yourself." She tilted her head menacingly. "I'm not just a witch, sweetheart. I'm the tribrid and you do not want to mess with my pack!"
Nyx flung her head back in laughter. "You can't do nothing when I have your precious human in my reach."
That is all the opening Hope needed. With Nyx's head flung back slightly, it gave her more of a target to hit because Stiles had been moved slightly to the right due to the action.
"Lecutio!" Hope shouted and flung out her hand toward the werewolf. A spark of electricity flung out from her palm and shot straight at Nyx.
"Damn!"
"Holy—"
"Fuck!"
Clarke grimaced. "Never mess with those that Hope Mikaelson considers her own. That's mistake number one."
Stiles who saw it coming, quickly hit the werewolf in the gut with his elbow and then ducked, and crawled away quickly just as the spark hit Nyx in the chest just below her neck.
The werewolf screamed and flung back into a tree, a popping noise coming from her shoulder which came in contact with it first.
Hope marched toward the werewolf, her eyes glowing a dangerous golden color.
Lizzie leaned close to Jen. "I am both scared and aroused."
Jen coughed on her drink and began wheezing.
Lizzie blushed and then giggled.
"That's a terrifying sight, not going to lie," Caroline whispered.
Klaus looked prouder and prouder of his daughter as time went on.
Hope yanked the girl up by her neck. "Never, and I mean never, come for my pack. I have already sparred your life before. And I'm not about to do it a third time. So, run along before I rip out your throat."
Stiles quickly ran to his father who pulled him into a hug.
The whole group was watching the scene with wide eyes, knowing what is about to come because of how protective Hope is of them.
Nyx began chuckling, but it sounded weird because she had just been electrocuted. "You think I'm scared of you? I'm not. You have no power over me. I will just keep coming back, killing your pack, one by one. Starting with that one," she looked directly at Stiles who narrowed his eyes at her. "And I'll make you watch as I slowly rip his body ap—"
She couldn't finished her sentence before Hope dug her nails into her neck. She began choking on her own blood, and her brown eyes looked into Hope's who had no emotion other than anger.
"Oh my god," Bonnie stared with wide eyes at the scene.
Katherine was wide eyed as well, finally come to the full conclusion that Hope Mikaelson is just like his father, meaning any enemies of hers better run for their life rather than fight back.
"No one comes for my pack and survives."
With that, Hope pulled out her hand, bringing some of Nyx' neck with her. Blood dripped from her fingers as she looked down at the girl's body slowly begin to stop moving.
"Damn," Rebekah said, mouth agape.
Klaus was smiling, in awe of his daughter. "Couldn't be prouder to be her father."
Hayley flinched just a second before raising a brow, impressed.
"Hope?" Melissa whispered softly before slowly approaching the teenager who's shoulders begin shaking. "Hey, it's okay," she murmured and pulled the girl into a hug.
Hope began silently crying. "I don't want to become a monster," she repeated over and over again into Melissa's chest. "I don't want to kill, but..." She began sobbing a little louder. "She deserved it, right? She would — she would've kept coming. Right? She would—"
Everyone was in awe at the complexity of Hope Mikaelson. They just watched her brutally kill someone, someone who was a raging murderer, and now here she is... crying.
'She really isn't like any regular Mikaelson' — Damon thought, in awe of the girl. Who knew that one day he might actually like a Mikaelson spawn.
"Hey, hey, it's okay," Melissa rubbed the girl's back, trying to not look at Nyx' dead body.
"She would've kept coming back," Chris was the one who spoke up and approached the young tribrid who slowly turned to him with teary eyes. "You did what you had to do, Hope, okay? We won't hold you accountable for that."
Noah, even though he didn't like what he had seen, knows that Nyx would've kept coming back, and would've killed his son. "I'll, um, I'll come up with a cover story, alright? No one will know about this other than us."
"This is why we always need a person in the department that knows about the supernatural," Caroline stated quietly. "Helps in situations like this."
"Although your friend Matt turns into an asshat that hates the school," Lizzie stated with a scowl.
Elena still couldn't believe her good friend Matt would turn out like that. She thought she could trust him. They all thought they could trust him.
Hope sniffed loudly and then glanced to Stiles who hadn't moved since she killed Nyx. "Stiles?" Her voice cracked and she felt like her heart was shattering when he didn't look toward her off a few seconds.
Klaus narrowed his eyes. "And this is why I said he's no good for my daughter."
"Klaus..." Hayley whispered, shaking her head but not taking her eyes off of the screen. She hates seeing see her daughter so upset.
Stiles swallowed thickly and then met her gaze with an understanding look. "You did what you had to do. We don't hate you for it." He walked toward her and pulled her into a gentle hug, one arm wrapping around her back, and the other going to her head. He wasn't about to abandon her for something she had to do. After all, she did it to save his life. "I will never leave your side, you got that? I will never abandon you."
Caroline sat up straight in her seat, grinning. "I never doubted him."
Hayley grinned and side-eyed Klaus who looked sheepish for a second. And then he shrugged and hardened his face slightly. "I said what I said."
Hayley rolled her eyes and shook her head at him. "You're being ridiculous. Stiles is probably the best person for our daughter to love. Just accept it at this point."
Klaus slumped his shoulders slightly. "If I do that, that's admitting that she has grown up. And with that, comes the fact that I have missed so many big mile stones for her."
Hayley frowned and leaned against his side, grabbing a hold of his hand, squeezing it tightly. "I understand that more than anyone. Okay? We are on the same boat. It suck's. God, does it ever. But, we are currently somewhere where I didn't think was possible, and we are watching our daughter grow into herself and learn to rely on those around her. We are watching her have that epic love story me and her always talked about. She is alive, Klaus. She's alive and thriving. And..." she broke off, a little choked up now. "And that's all I could wish for when I sacrificed myself for her."
Klaus swallowed thickly and closed his eyes tightly, wielding away the tears that almost came to the surface. "You're... right." He sighed heavily and opened his eyes.
She shrugged and grinned lightly at that. "I tend to be, sometimes."
He rolled his eyes, but didn't pull his hand away from hers.
Hope began to cry again, but this time in relief and happiness. She has found her people.
She buried her nose into his neck and tightened her hold around him, never wanting to let go.
And just like that, two villains had been defeated.
But, that was just the beginning, and the worst was yet to come.
"Oh, come on! Seriously?!"
"Why can't they get a break?!"
