Min-Jae (Chapter 3)
I remember that day very vividly. It was 3 years ago, and Jessica was the one who introduced us to each other.
"Min-Jae, this is Park Hae-Ri. She's Indian-Korean and has lived in India all her life, but now her family has decided to come back here," Jess had said.
I don't know why, but I had my doubts about her. She somehow made me feel...insecure. At Least that's how my 11th grader mind worked. Unnecessarily, I'd doubted her Indian identity, too. Hae-Ri told me that her Indian mom had met her Korean dad, Park Min-Gyu, when she'd come for one of her business trips. They fell in love, got married some time later and then had Ho-Jin, Hae-ri's elder brother.. Soon after that, they decided to move to India and then had Hae-ri. There, I'd finally understood her back story, and was then ready to accept her for who she was.
Currently, it felt like all this had happened decades ago, since so much had changed over these passing years...our friendship, our group dynamics, and the way we got to know each other so well. I did regret one thing, though. Ever since University began, me and Jessica drifted apart. We did still talk, but not as much. There was a time when the two of us would spend multiple consecutive evenings talking about school, finishing projects and hanging out together. I realised that we hadn't done that in so long.
