[06] Fireflies
Kelsey's POV
After carefully carrying Erica's body all the way to Derek's loft and running back to where I found her, I felt the anger rush over me which made me smash everything in my path. I need to get out of here. I need fresh air.
Exiting the bank, I rush through the woods within a flash. Tree brunches poking my sides, damp bushes brushing my arms, and dead leaves crunching beneath my feet. The sky was dark but the moon was shinning bright enough for me to see where I was going. But where was I going?
I could see the yellow stars slowly moving around. But uas I looked closer, they weren't stars. They were fireflies.
I stopped and looked at how they moved. Something about them made me curious. They were so beautiful. So magical. The way they fluttered around me, almost made me smile. As one came close to me, the yellow light made me think of Erica's golden-blonde hair. And that's when I felt a tear escape.
Maybe this is Erica watching over me. Maybe she's with me.
I can imagine Erica whipping away my tears with her thumb, her strong arms pulling me into a heartfelt hug. I can imagine her stroking my hair as her soft voice tells me to "stop crying" and "it will be okay". I wish she was here.
I want her back.
I miss her, and I didn't even get to say goodbye. I didn't tell her how much she meant to me, how much I looked up to her. I didn't tell her that she's wasn't just my best friend, she was also my sister.
I didn't tell her I loved her.
Just then, I felt a sudden feeling inside me. A feeling of calmness. A feeling of control. Pulling my hands to my face, I could see my claws were no longer there. Stoking my face, I could no longer feel the hair on my cheeks.
I found an anchor.
My anchor was based on anger.
My anchor is Erica.
"Kelsey?" A voice whispered. "Kelsey, what are you doing out here?" I turned round to see the source of the voice. It was Derek. I stared at him for awhile before running closer and wrapping my arms around him.
Burying my head in his chest, letting everything out. I began crying again. Derek hesitated a bit before holding me closer with one of his arms and the other stroking my hair. "I know, I know." Derek said softly, as if he knew what I was crying about.
"Sh-she's g-gone...I s-saw her." I stuttered.
"Shhh, it's okay." Derek whispered before leaning back slightly to look at my face. He removed the hair away that was covering my face, looking at my red puffy eyes. "She wouldn't want you to cry." He said lightly. He was right, I know she wouldn't want me crying over her like this. She would want me to think of the happy memories I had with her.
Derek handed me a hanky from his pocket, letting me whip away the tears that stained my face and blow my nose.
Once I was done, Derek leaned in close as he kissed my forehead. "Come on. Let's get out of here." I nodded.
Derek smiled softy, before picking me up bridal style as we walked out of the woods. I needed that. I needed to cry. It helps a little to let everything out, because keeping it in just makes you feel like you're going to explode.
After a long walk, we finally stopped and Derek let go of me. He had taken me to his car. Why was his car here? Did he know I was out here? "Kelsey, are you okay?" The sound of my boyfriends voice spoke. Isaac got out the car and immediately pulled me into his arms.
I did the same, tightening my grip. "It's better if we put her in the back, she can lay down then." Derek told Isaac as he opened the car door.
Isaac pulled away, slowly but carefully helping me crawl into the backseat. Once I was in, Isaac closed the door and got in the front with Derek. They didn't ask me questions. But I didn't mind, I was in no mood for talking; if I opened my mouth, I'd burst into tears for the millionth time.

"Do you think this is gonna work?" Isaac asks Derek.
We were currently parked outside the grocery store watching Scott talk to Allison's father about helping us with catching Boyd and Cora. Cora, Derek's sister. Apparently she was the one in the vault with Boyd.
And they escaped the vault, so now they were both roaming around on a full moon night. Which is not good at all. And Lydia found a dead body near a pool, a teenaged boy who wore a purity ring, which Stiles thought was strange. But they don't know if it was Boyd or Cora who killed the boy.
If Boyd and Cora killed the boy, wouldn't they just bite him to death instead of clawing his throat to shreds? But I still don't understand. What would the alpha pack want with Derek's little sister? What did they want with Boyd? It all just seems a little...odd.
"Nope." Derek replied.
"Me neither...." And did Cora know Derek was alive? Why did she return to Beacon Hills earlier, or did the alpha pack have her all that time? Where was Cora hiding all this time. "So your, uh...your sister." My boyfriend spoke, earning a look from Derek.
Did Isaac have the same questions I wanted to ask about Cora? "Sorry, yeah, it's..." Isaac cleared his throat. "It's bad timing, I'm sorry."
How old is Cora? If she's younger, she's got to been in her teens. What does she look like? Does she look like Derek? Does she act like a Hale and do the famous Hale frown look? Does she shift like Derek or like Laura used to? "I'll ask later. It's fine." Derek glanced over at Isaac again, giving him the look.
"Or never." Isaac nodded, and Derek nodded with him. "Yeah, yeah, I'm good with never." Isaac finished.

Chris throws a duffle bag down on the floor, near by the footprints of Boyd and Cora. "You're tracking them by print?" He asks.
"Trying to." My brother answers.
"Well, then, you've been wasting your time. There's only one creature on earth that can visually track footprints, and that's man. And if you're not trained like me, you have no idea that this print is Boyd's and these-"
I cut Mr. Argent off by answering. "Are Cora's."
"Nope. They're yours." What? Looking down, I see multiple footprints all around me...maybe they are mine then. "You trampled Cora's as soon as you walked over here." Mr. Argent tells me, geez I'm sorry.
"Listen, I know the four of you are focusing half your energy on resisting your own urges under the full moon, but that puts you at a severe disadvantage to Boyd and Cora, who have fully given in. They put the pedal to the floor where you three are barely hitting the speed limit."
"So what do we do?" Derek asks Chris.
"Focus on your sense of smell. Actual wolves are known to track their prey by up to a hundred Miles a day by scent. A trained hunter can use scent to track them. If the wind is with them, wolves can track a scent by a distance of two Miles, which means we can draw them to us...or into a trap. Full moon does give us one advantage. They'll have a higher heat signature, which makes them easier to spot with infrared."
Chris then throws us night vision goggles. Great, I'm going to look like an idiot. "Thanks, but I've got my own." Derek says as he flashes his crimson-red eyes.
"Just remember, we're not hunting wild animals. Under those impulses are two intelligent human beings. Don't think they can rely on that human side. It's suppressed but it's there. Reminds them how much to mask a scent, mask to cover up their tracks, how to survive."
Wow, Chris really does know a lot about werewolves. Guess he's done lots of research and has a lot of experience. The five of us walk on the lookout hill, glancing over Beacon Hills.
"When's the last time you saw your sister?" Chris asked Derek.
"Not in years. I thought she died in the fire." Derek answers. "Feel like you have a lock on her scent?" Derek shakes his head.
"Scott, how confident are you in your skills?"
"Honestly? Most of the time I'm trying not to think about all the things I can smell." Scott answered.
"Alright." Argent starts. "The problem is when they breach the woods and hit the residential area. Once they're past the high school, they're right in the middle of Beacon Hills." Oh god, what if they kill someone?
"They're not gonna...kill everything they see, are they?" Isaac asks.
"No. But there is an important difference to recognize. Wolves hunt for food at a certain point they get full. Boyd and Cora are hunting for the pleasure of the kill. For some, primal predatory satisfaction that comes from the ripping of warm bodies to bloody shreds. And who knows when that needs to stay shaded."
"We can't kill them." Scott and I say almost simultaneously.
"But what if we can't catch them?" Derek asks.
"Then maybe we just need to contain them." Chris says. "There's no one at the school at night is there?"
"You wanna trap them inside?" Derek asks.
"If there's somewhere with a strong enough door. No windows or access to the outside." Hmm, there is one place. "What about the boiler room? It's just one steel door." I say, causing all eyes to look at me, before Chris turns to look at Scott.
"You sure the school's empty?"
"It has to be. There can't be anyone there this late right?" Scott asks.

Hey everyone! I hope you liked that chapter.
So...Kelsey took Erica's body to Derek's loft, but why? What will Derek say when he finds the body? Will he find the body?
Kelsey's anchor is Erica. (I bet you all thought it would be Isaac, ahah). She's back with her pack and is helping contain Boyd and Cora.
I was originally going to make Isaac find Kelsey in the woods but then I thought, why not add a little Kelsey and Derek moment. I really like the friendship they have...but who knows, maybe something might happen between them, hmmmm ;)
Do you ship them? #Kelrek or #Dersey, which one sounds better?
So Christmas in Tenerife just felt like a normal day, not much happened and I didn't get any presents (I got a few before we went on holiday), but it was alright. I got a bit of a tan, which is good because I usually burn as my skin is quite pale. Oh, I have a cold, thanks to my dad who put his spoon in my ice cream...yay!
Today is my last full day in Tenerife, and I can't wait to go home. I've missed my bed and my little kitty Treacle too much...oh, and the wifi. I don't know what time I'll be getting home, but I probably won't update for a few days because I was meant to do some work during the holidays...and well I didn't (because I was on holiday) but yeah...only three days to do it.
Don't you just love deadlines.
Anyways, enough of me rambling on. How was your Christmas? What presents did you get? Where did you spend your Christmas? What are you doing for New Years? Are you having a party? Watching fireworks maybe?
And the most important question; what are your New Years revolutions?
