CHAPTER TWELVE

CHAPTER TWELVE
BLOODSUCKER
MOTHERFUCKER
"when i'm away from you
i'm happier than ever"
˚✧₊*⁎⁺˳✧༚

It had all happened so fast.

One second, she was tracking across the forest floor. The next, she was nowhere to be seen.

Bellamy and Clarke were clueless as to what had happened. No traces were left behind, whatever must have happened had either been a perfect coincidental accident, or planned by someone who knew what they were doing.

If the Blake boy and Griffin girl had learnt one thing with their time here one worth, it was that they didn't believe in perfect coincidences. Something, or someone, had happened to Dylan. They didn't know what, how or when. They just knew she was in trouble.

"We have to find her!" Bellamy had argued when Clarke had insisted they continued with their original mission.

"We won't find here if we're dead. Which is what we'll be if we stay here!" Clarke had argued back. Bellamy knew her plan was more logical, but logic played no part when he was worried for someone he loved. Logic wasn't going to tell him where the hell Dylan was.

Nonetheless, Bellamy finally gave in to Clarke's plan. They left the crime scene behind, both of them simply hoping Dylan was fine. Bellamy was praying, and Bellamy Blake didn't pray. But something in the very pit of his stomach was screaming at him that something was wrong. That he needed to turn around and find her. His heart was yearning to know that she was okay. After everything he had been through at this god forsaken planet, after believing for so long that she had died that day outside of the drop ship. . . Call it separation anxiety, call it whatever. Maybe he was just thinking the worst, maybe Dylan had just wandered off. Whatever it was, Bellamy pushed his feelings and thoughts down as he marched behind Clarke with determination. The quicker they found Kane and the leader of the grounders, the quicker he could return to his search for Dylan.

Dylan, fortunately or unfortunately, didn't feel on the same amount of anxiety as Bellamy. Why you may ask? Oh well, just because she was completely knocked out.

She hadn't seen it coming, none of them had. As mentioned, it all just happened so fast. One second she was mindlessly wandering behind Bellamy and Clarke. The next moment something hit the back of her head and she face planted directly into the green forest floor. Knocked into complete disorientation, Dylan hadn't managed to scream nor fight back. And before she knew, the attacker had pressed something to her nostrils. Of course, she took a deep breath, and then everything went black.

On one side it was a good thing that she wasn't experiencing the throbbing pain in the back of her head. It was sure to give her the headache of a century once she woke up again. On the other side, being unconscious and kidnapped wasn't exactly how Dylan ideally had wished for her day. Mother Nature really had something against her, didn't she?

With fluttering eyes, Dylan was beginning to wake up. Whoever was carrying her had yet to notice, which was a great advantage for the Kane girl. If this had been old Dylan, she would've let out a loud bloodcurdling scream. She would be flailing her arms like a maniac, kicking and punishing messily around herself to get away from the culprit. But new Dylan? Well, thanks to Lincoln, she had a better idea.

With one single eye barely cracked open, she tried checking out her competition. The culprit was dressed in what looked like a white hazard suit. The way the person was built let her know it was most likely a guy. Dylan let her head 'drop'. The guy carrying her brushed it off as her limply moving around unconsciously as he heaved her up a small hill. What Dylan really did was actually very conscious. With her head positioned down, she could better check out her surroundings.

     Then she struck.

Pulling the kidnapper with her, Dylan threw her body down the hill. The duo tumbled down, fighting eachother off as they tumbled. Recalling the desperation Dylan had felt when Lincoln and that other grounder had come at her on her first day back on earth, Dylan channeled it. "Who the fuck are you!?" Dylan yelled, kicking the guy directly in his stomach. "Where the hell did you come from?!" A brutal fist landed directly on his face, sending him flying fast on his ass. "And what in the holy hell do you want from me?!" One finally blow was landed on him before Dylan decided he was knocked out.

Breathing heavy, Dylan locked around. He had managed to haul her ass pretty far up some mountain. Dylan had no idea where she was. The trees had cleared, she noted, taking in the landscape she was standing in. It appeared to be some grass meadow of sorts.

Dylan pulled her hand to her nose, wiping the blood dripping down. Then, suddenly, the guy who she thought she had knocked out, swiped at her ankles, sending her crashing down into the grass. "You fucker!" Dylan coughed, her breath having been knocked out of her.

The guy didn't answer. He simply, continued trying to subdue her. For some odd reason, it was like was trying his best not to make any real damage to her as he landed punches.

Dylan quickly bounced back from her miscalculation by grabbing a sharp stick resting on the peaceful ground. Throwing herself around, she pulled the stick above her head, preparing to stab. When the white cladded culprit noticed that, he quickly recoiled.

"Wait, don't!" He exclaimed, scurrying away from her. Dylan tilted her head in confusion.

"What?" The brunette was confused. Why was he scared of some small stick? The only real damage it could do was to his clothes. "Give me one reason as to why I shouldn't kill-uh, stab you to death with this!?" Dylan tried to appear threatening, but in reality she felt like she was anything but. She was threatening to stab him with a stick for heavens sake!

"I- I can't breathe." He sputtered.

"What?"

"I can't breathe." The man replied, this time without stuttering. "If you poke hole in my suit I'll suffocate."

"Oh my god!" The girl finally realized. "You're one of those bloodsucking vampire people from Mount Weather!" Dylan's eyes went wide. "You bloodsucker motherfucker!"

Every word that had left Clarke's mouth were suddenly running wild inside of Dylan's head. The reapers, the blood transfusions, the cannibalism. The way Lincoln had so vividly described the mountain men, how evil and dangerous they were. All of it made panic settle in Dylan's chest.

"Get the hell away from me!" Dylan yelled. Her feet pulled her to a stand. Still clenching the stick threateningly, Dylan began slowly stepping away from him. Dylan would never admit it, but she was scared. Terrified even. The tension that had kept building ever since first time Dylan had been told about Mount Weather was currently at its peak and it was making Dylan's heart trying to beat its way out of her rib cage.

Panicked Dylan was the worst Dylan. Because panicked Dylan didn't think. And when Dylan didn't think, she did stupid things.

The man suddenly jumped to his feet, pouncing on the brunette. He tried pulling out his gun that was neatly stuffed into a hip holster. Dylan acted quickly, swiftly kicking the weapon out of his hand. By the force she kicked, his wrist snapped loudly at the contact. He fell to his knees yelping out in pain. That's when Dylan grabbed him by his collar, pulling her closer to her. "Go to hell, bitch." And with that, she ripped of his mask. Within the matter of seconds, his skin turned red. Rashes spread over his entire body as he screamed in agony. Dylan's eyes widened at the gory scene. His flesh was burning off his bones. The radiation was quite literally melting him away.

Dylan threw the mask aside, turning away from the scene. In a split second she couldn't feel regret and guilt tug at her, but she quickly shut those feelings out. She did what she needed to do to survive. She did it for herself, Monty, Jasper and everyone else affected by these mountain men.

Taking a deep breath, the girl attempted to relax her nerves. It was necessary for her to be calm if she was going to find her way back to Bellamy and Clarke. But, in typical earth manner, an acidic smell hit Dylan's nostrils. "You've got to be kidding me." Her eyes locked in the thick green mist edging over the top of the hill. With a loud cry, the Kane girl ran for it. Clumsily running down the hill with the thick fog chasing her she tried outrunning it. There was just no way she was getting killed exactly the same way as that mountain man dude. No offense to him, but that had looked like it freaking hurt.

Dylan was running for her life. She was running for Lincoln. The grounder was probably still locked up back at Camp Jaha. He needed her to come back and get him the hell out of there. Dylan was running for everyone trapped in that god forsaken mountain, she had to save them. And finally, she was running for her stupid father. Dylan would be damned if she died while her father was still running around like a headless chicken.

"Fucking hell!" Dylan yelled out as she flew at full speed down the hill. The girl had now reached the trees, which was to little help. It only made it harder for her to navigate.

The Kane girl desperately looked around on the search for a cave or something she could hide out in. The distraction didn't help her. Instead, she suddenly slammed into a body. If she hadn't looked up, she would've assumed she had crashed into a tree. But it was certainly not a tree. Dylan gasped loudly, slapping her hand over her mouth in shock.

It was the creature. The same creature that had thrown her into the river that day when Lincoln had been looking for ingredients to an ointment for Dylan's mosquito bites.

Before Dylan had time to react, the creature hauled her into its arms, taking off at full speed in the opposite direction of the fog. With her eyes locked on the fog hunting them down, Dylan recalled the last time this had happened. Only she had bumped into Lincoln instead. This time, Dylan didn't yell for the guy carrying her to run. Instead she remained silent with a thousand thoughts running like wild horses through her mind.

What was this creature? How had it found her? Had it been following her or was it purely coincidental that she had bumped into it again?

Dylan clenched her eyes close, praying that the creature knew how to get them out of this alive. Fortunately for her, it did.

One moment, Dylan was fearfully staring at the life threatening fog. The next, she was limply tossed into a cave, the creature close behind. It pulled what looked like a makeshift door over the entrance of the cave, shutting it. Dylan let out a loud breath of relief, resting her head on the wall of the cave.

Momentarily forgetting about the creature, Dylan thanked the heavens that she was alive. Despite earth continuously throwing curveballs at her, earth certainly wanted to keep her alive as well. Since arriving down at earth, she had been staring death in the eye about a thousand times. Yet everytime, pure accident and coincidences kept her alive. It was like someone was watching out for her, making sure she survived.

Popping one eye after the other open, Dylan was stunned to see the creature staring right back at her. Shifting uncomfortably on the ground, she spoke. "Thank you." The brunette figured she would spare her empty threats and drilling questions till after she had expressed her gratitude for the creature. It had, after all, saved her ass.

The last encounter Dylan had with the creature, she had been terrified. She was weakened by her lack of food and the mosquitoes, she was alone and she was an entirely different person. The creature had arrived at the worst possible time and scared her shitless. But for some reason the girl wasn't scared. At least not yet. There was an odd comfort in excising in simple silence for the time being. Something about the vibes being put off allowed Dylan to relax. Perhaps it was stupid of her to let her guard down. Only time could tell her that, but for now she was opting for relaxation in place of fighting for her life.

The creature continued staring mesmerized at the Kane girl. Dylan felt weird addressing the creature as a creature even if it was just in her mind. She just want sure if it was human or not. It was all deformed and weird looking. There was no telling if it was a guy or girl!

So, Dylan settled for creature till further notice.

It continued staring at her, as mentioned. Trying to avert her gaze was impossible with the eyes drilling into her. By the seconds she was growing more and more annoyed. Unsure if it even had the ability to speak, Dylan settled for a glare. If it didn't understand English, it sure as hell understood her death glare. It quickly reeled around minding its business.

What the hell am I doing this is nuts, Dylan finally realized once the adrenaline from escaping the fog had run out. The only logical thing to do was the get the hell out of here and back to camp. So, she jumped to her feet, rushing towards the 'door' to make her escape. But an abrupt sound halted her.

"No, don't, fog!" It was three simple words. They didn't quite form a sentence, but they were words nonetheless. Words that stunned Dylan.

"So you can speak." She snarkily commented, annoyed that it took this long for the creature to speak. This time it didn't reply, simply shaking its head while pointing at the door. It was reminding her for the acid fog. Dylan almost facepanned once she remembering how many ours it usually took for the fog to rise. She was about to walk straight into her death again. God, if grounders, mountain men or this creature didn't kill her, her own stupidity sure would.

With large steps she retreated back to where she had previously been sitting, and the duo slipped back into the peaceful coexisting for the time being.

At least now Dylan had the time to really think about her next moves. And heavens did she have a lot of thinking to do.
