Wings of Fire OC

Name: Maroon (like the colour)

Gender: Male

Tribe: RainWing, but maybe I'll change him to a RainWing/SkyWing
It would be okay to make him a hybrid, but make sure to do it right. Think about how a SkyWing and a RainWing would meet and become close enough friends for there to be love. This is difficult as SkyWings are generally grouchy and RainWings are generally excitable. And make sure to even out his abilities too- Like he can only change some of his scales and he doesn't have venom/his venom is weak. Otherwise I see no problem.

Age: 12
Cool. A note tho- I've learned that dragons mature differently than humans. Their maturity levels are about ten years more advanced than humans, so a 12 year old would have the maturity of a 22 year old human. Does that make sense?

I don't see anything wrong with him being 12 tho.

Sexuality: BISEXUAL

Residence: RainWing village, in a fancy hut

Occupation: He likes weaving and drawing, but he's also really happy with conducting tree-gliding lessons for a few months
Cool. When I've seen other OCs before the art occupations are usually sculpting or painting- I've not seen weaving before.

Queen they support: Queen Glory
Makes sense.

Family: Like most RainWings, he doesn't know
Again, makes sense.

Friends: He's friends with Jambu and has a tiny crush on him, but he mainly hangs out with Peacemaker and Hope, trying to help the NightWing with parenting Peacemaker.
Cool. I can totally see Jambu being an oblivious doofus. XD

Abilities: the RainWing usual, scale-changing and prehensile tails, plus the venom.
Noice.

Appearance: He has his usual colours set to a bright maroon colour, with teal wing membranes and a gold underbelly. The larger, plated scales on his head, back, arms, and legs are also teal, but edged with gold, and the tiny circular spots along his underbelly are a pattern of gold, pink, teal, gold, pink, teal. His eyes are emerald green, his horns are a darker, more purplish maroon, and he wears a bamboo bracelet.
Mmmm I think this design would cause a bit of eyestrain... Maybe I'm envisioning it wrong but I'd change a few things.

(1) Remove the teal, or use a pastel blue instead. Personally, I think it would look better and seem more unique.

(2) Maybe make his eyes blue or gold, the same color as the rest of his scales. Even pink would work, to spread the colors.

(3) Add body shape. Something like 'Skinny', 'Short', 'Muscular', or something like that.

Otherwise the design is good.

Personality: Maroon is a kind dragon, trying his best to befriend everyone, and he is totally okay with dragons that don't accept his friendship. "Sometimes dragons don't want to be friends with everyone" is his saying. Maroon rarely gets mad or sad, usually looking on the bright side of things. When he loses a race, or doesn't win in a painting contest, he congratulates the winner and is a good sport. Maroon is a vegetarian, mainly eating fruits and vegetables. He likes bathing in sunlight, he likes rainbows and rain, and he dislikes spiders. In fact, he has arachnophobia, and every time he sees a rain forest spider he jumps into another dragon's arms and shrieks. Overall, he is what stuck-up dragons would call a "goody-two-shoes"

Mmmmm.... Maybe add more flaws? I see the arachnophobia and Goody-Two-Shoes thing but he needs something else to balance it out. Maybe he gets nervous easily, or has a fear of standing up in front of crowds. Maybe he gets walked across or shoved around easily. I dunno- it's your choice. But I would add more flaws.

Backstory: Maroon hatched in the RainWing's hatchery, climbing out as soon as he was born and running around. He is known as "Energy boy" because of his little blast of energy after hatching. Luckily, he was caught and put in the little dragonet-trampoline, where he jumped around happily until he was three. Then he was let out, and he found his artistic side when he found an old wall overgrown by vines and bamboo. He began weaving it, not really knowing what he was doing, and soon made a bracelet-like thing. Eventually, he learned more tricks to weaving until he was an expert. The first bracelet-weaving he made is the one he wears presently, keeping it as a memory to laugh at his improvement. He learned to paint while in his newly-found cousin's hut, where he found an empty canvas and three buckets of green, red, and purple paint. Maroon began sticking his talons in it when his cousin wasn't around, then splatting it onto the canvas and giggling. When Ivy (his cousin) came back, she was shocked to see an attempt at the sunset on her canvas, then she laughed along with Maroon. He began improving off that, and now is a talented artist. Maroon didn't have a crush until he saw Jambu racing while Glory was competing for queen, then Maroon loved the queen's brother's personality and developed a crush on him. But he never had the chance to act it out, so he never did. Jambu was Maroon's only crush, but he recently discovered a female named Violet that had a crush on him and began wondering about his sexuality. Maroon took some flying lessons, learning quickly to never keep his wings fully spread while flying in the rain forest. Maroon had found an abandoned hut in the village and took it for his own, decorating it with art and weavings. He currently is an experienced tree glider, an expert weaver, and a talented artist who loves suntime and sleeping.

I like the backstory, however, with no offense intended, it's kinda boring. Something you could add to spice things up is maybe a Queen from a different tribe(Thorn Maybe?) comes and finds his art interesting, asking him to return home with them. He wants to impress Jambu by becoming the artist of a Queen other than Glory— but leaving would mean rarely ever seeing Jambu.

Okay then! All in all, I give them a 5/10

Why?

—Maroon has barely any flaws
—His backstory is dull
—Design has more colors than needed
—Design is missing build

Once you fix these things I'd happy to rate them again! :)

Oh, and please note I'm not forcing you to change this stuff. If you want him to have teal wing membranes rather than pastel blue- go for it! I'm only showing you ways I think would help. KEY WORD BEING 'I'. This isn't something you have to do.
