Ashfur in thought: Please, forgive me...

Ashfur drew in a deep breath, probably inhaling the smoke around him, as he let out a low snarl.

After all I've done for her she turns her back on me, he thought angrily.

I was there to guide her, beside her, but still she refuses to see.

His gaze swept over the orange she-cat and the three warriors cowering behind her.

He shut his eyes tight for a moment.

I cannot take the pain, how can no one see the gashes?

He smirked a little, maybe too insanely.

Soon she too, will feel my ache when there is nothing left but ashes.

Ashfur began stalking towards Squirrelflight circling the cats around him like a hawk.

He stopped at Squirrelflight and gave her a long, hard judging look.

I felt dizzy in her gaze she brought me warmth and new light...

He shook away the memory.

But what I didn't understand that it was all just a lie.

He beckoned to the fire around him.

The flame she lit in me, set this raging forest fire. Now it's her turn to burn,

"...and I'll be the one to light her pyre," he whispered, words barely audible.

"One to light her pyre..."

He whipped around to face Squirrelflight.

"It's too late, let's you and I watch the flames reach up higher, and higher..." he purred menacingly as Squirrelflight started to look confused as he blocked the path to safety.

She suddenly understood, and she let out a growl.

Ashfur went on.

"It's no use, I'm done listening the words of a liar, you l i a r."

He slid out his claws.

"It's your spark that started this blaze, now we're standing face to face."

He looked at the open flames hungrily.

"In this giant mess you've made, but I'll finally get my way."

He pushed away the tears that began to well in his eyes.

"You were more than content to watch me burn..." he growled softly.

"So it's my turn."

He turned away again, this time unable to form words.

She caused this switch in me set my paws on this path.

He thought of treacherous Brambleclaw and his evil father as his claws sunk into the earth.

And so I will walk alone, I'll be igniting my wrath.

The hunger in his gaze returned as it settled on Squirrelflight.

He stormed up to her, unable to contain his usually calm presence.

He was angry.

Really angry.

He let out a breath and composed herself, words still ringing in his head.

Although I've failed before, tonight I will fill my desire.

Ashfur felt the burns and scars inside his heart hurt more than ever before.

These wounds I bear beneath my skin are finally coming to light.

"I'll show the Clan, I'll show them A L L my time to shine is tonight," he snarled to the three cats beside the orange she-cat.

I see my chance, I'll make my move, the sky is lit up with flashes, he thought, his chest burning even more as he though of the lightning around him.

He whispered to himself, "I will watch her burn and she will learn when there is nothing left but A S H E S."  His voice rose, thick with emotion.

"N O T H I N G  L E F T  B U T  A S H E S. . ."

"I-It's too late, let's you and I watch the flames reach up higher, and higher."

No turning back now.

"It's no use, I'm done listening to the words of a liar, a L I A R," he repeated, silently challenging Squirrelflight to speak.

"It's your spark that started this blaze, now we're standing face to face. In this giant mess you've made, but I'll finally get my way," he snarled, feeling satisfaction as Hollyleaf cowered in terror.

"You were more than content to watch me burn," he finished, allowing Squirrelflight to speak.

He went on as she didn't.

"So now it's MY turn."

Squirrelflight finally found her voice.

"After all this time you refuse to heal..." she began, fury balling up in her too.

"So now I'm to pay for the scars you reveal...?"

She motioned to the three crouching beside her.

"They're in your fire but it's my choice what will burn..."

She locked her distressed green gaze with Ashfur's cold flaming blue ones.

"You've told your truth, so now it's my turn."

Ashfur's laugh was cold and menacing as Squirrelflight spoke these words, rasping and furious.

They began arguing in rounds.

"It's too late, let's you and I watch the flames reach up higher, and higher..."
"It's too late, we've let this lie begin to screech out higher, and higher..."

"It's no use, I'm done listening to the words of a liar, you liar."
"It's no use, I know that I'll wear the mark of a liar, a liar."

"It's your spark that started this blaze, now we're standing face to face."
"Two lovers started this blaze, now we're standing face to face."

"In this giant mess you've made, but I'll finally get my way."
"In this mess I helped create, but I'll finally clear the way."

"You were more than content to watch me burn..."
"He had only intent to let you burn..."

"So it's my turn."
"So it's my turn."

"You were more than content to watch me burn..."

"So it's my turn."

Squirrelflight snarled, stepping away from the three cats and exposing them to Ashfur's claws.

"If you really want to hurt me, you'll have to find a better way than that," she growled.

"They are NOT my kits."
