Chapter 2
Salem breathed in a sharp breeze. Glancing around, he could see Felix coming out from below deck, with three plump mice dangling from his jaws.
"How'd you get all those?"
"Below deck." Felix replied flatly.
Salem narrowed his eyebrows. "You told me that wasn't a good place for hunting."
"Mabye I'm just a better hunter!" Felix yowled, amusement flickering in his eyes. He picked up the mice and trotted away to the barrels.
Salem sighed lightly and padded to the edge of the boat. He breathed in the fishy smell, letting the wind ruffle his fur. A twoleg man walked up to him and leaned against the railing. He breathed in and said something in a low voice. It was a calm kind of sound, much different than the other men yowling behind them.
He reached over to pet him on the head but stopped. Suddenly, he stood up and started shouting at the other men. He kept pointing out at the ocean. Salem peered at where he had pointed and saw a foggy gray lump, floating on the ocean.
"Land." He gasped
