Chapter 7
Recap
Kraigan is shocked to find that the son of Gabriel already has powers.
Berk was as shocked as Kraigan was. They both stared at each other for a minute, not able to open their mouths to speak a word.
"I can't believe this!" Kraigan broke the silence, "You already have the powers. And you're not a Siligon Warrior!"
"I had no idea about them!" Berk exclaimed.
"Can you show me your flame again?"
"I don't know how to. It was just a reflex."
"Concentrate hard and you'll find a heat inside you. Then focus on letting in out," Kraigan instructed.
Berk closed his eyes and concentrated hard for a few seconds.
"I think I'm getting something," Berk said. Finally, a flame came out of his hands again.
"Very weak compared to the rest of us but still, it's amazing," Kraigan stated.
"Shall we tell Godag and others?" Berk asked.
"Not yet," Kraigan said, "I have an idea."
"What is it?"
"You already have the powers of a Siligon Warrior without becoming one. But your magic is weak. If we don't give you full powers, you won't survive as a Siligon Warrior." Kraigan explained. "But if we make you a Siligon Warrior, you might even become the strongest of us."
"But shouldn't you ask Godag and others about it first?"
"They won't understand it. Not until I show them your full powers."
"How shall I do it?"
"Oh, it's simple," Kraigan brought a glass bottle containing dark green liquid from a shelf.
"What is this?" Berk inquired.
"Kisogya Water. Brought from the Dark Lands. Take a sip of it and you will get the powers."
"Oh, that seems easy," Berk took the bottle from Kraigan and proceeded to take a sip from it.
"Wait!" Kraigan snapped. "It's not as easy as it seems. Drinking this water will bring you to the Dark Lands. The demons there will try to speak with you and corrupt your thoughts. You have to resist them until the tattoo on your arm gets completed."
"Is all this true?"
"Believe me, it is."
"What happens if I fail?"
"I have seen this happen two times. Once you submit to the darkness, a demon tries to enter your body. Luckily, our body is too weak for him and we die before that happens."
"How is dying good?"
"Better than getting possessed by an evil spirit," Kraigan smiled.
"Alright, I'm ready," Berk took a deep breath and uncorked the bottle. He took a sip from it just as Kraigan instructed. His eyes closed and he fell down to the ground.
"Whatever they say, remember that it's all lies," Kraigan stated.
It went silent inside the tent as Kraigan waited for Berk to survive the Dark Lands. The tatoo of Phoenix had started to form on Berk's hands. However, it stopped halfway.
"What happened, Berk?" Kraigan asked.
"You were wrong, Kraigan. They were saying the truth. My birth was a mistake." Berk softly whispered.
Kraigan's heart froze for a moment. Berk was starting to fall under the influence.
"No Berk, they are wrong! They know nothing!" Kraigan shouted.
"They know much more about me than you, Kraigan," Berk replied.
"Berk no!"
Berk's body started turning black and smoke came out. This was the stage when Berk was supposed to die. But that didn't happen. Instead, he let out a sharp, piercing scream which could be heard by everyone at the Siligon Camp.
Godag, Kingston, and others immediately came running inside the tent.
"What have you done!" Godag shouted.
"Why isn't he dying?" Kingston cried.
"We have no other way," Godag took out his sword. However, before he could stab Berk, an invisible force sent everyone flying out of the tent.
Berk finally stood up. His entire body had turned black and dark fog was looming around him. He grinned devilishly as he looked around. His eyes had turned red.
"We have to stop him," Godag commanded. Together, he and Kingston charged at Berk along with five more Siligon Warriors.
However, with a motion of the hand, Berk covered them with his dark fog. All of them passed out within seconds.
More Siligon Warriors gathered at the place. A bigger force attacked Berk.
Berk flashed a smile at them and made a massive sword appear in his hands. He stabbed the blade into the chest of the first Siligon Warrior to come to him. The Siligon Warrior's body turned black and within a second, his lifeless body fell to the ground.
Shock consumed the rest of the force. They had never witnessed a Siligon Warrior get killed so easily. When Berk came closer to them, they all retreated.
Berk started walking ahead. He came out of the tent and everyone else scampered away. Berk looked around at his surroundings and then made his way to the Northern Wall of the Siligon Camp, destroying everything that came in the way with his invisible force. With the motion of his hand, he tore down the gate of the camp and proceeded to move out from the camp.
Lousia blocked his way out. She was joined by more warriors who surrounded Berk from both sides.
Despite the short time, she had arranged an army of ten Siligon Warriors consisting of five Hawks and Phoenixes
"All together!" Lousia commanded.
In response, all ten of them shot arrows and flames at Berk. However, the black fog around him absorbed all the attacks and sent it back to them. The Phoenix Warriors received the arrows and Hawks received the fire.
Nobody else dared to stop Berk after Lousia's failed attempt.
When Berk finally left, the camp was in ruins and the Siligon Warriors lay injured. However, Kraigan remained intact, silently watching all the mess he had caused.
"Where is Berk going?" a Siligon Warrior asked.
"He went through the Northern Walls," Lousia said, slowly getting up. The left side of her hand had turned black with the fire. "It's the closest way to the Dark Lands."
Author's Note
And the main plot begins with this chapter. Apologies to all the readers who thought Berk will be fighting the threat along with the Siligon Warriors instead of becoming one.
