Chapter 11
The preparations had been made. The streets of Lamitan had been cleared up and decorated with royal carpets. After so many years, a council was about to take place.
However, even in such times, the ruler of Lamitan made sure to show off his dominance in front of the other kingdoms, personally supervising all decoration projects.
Never in history had the council taken place so soon. Within 6 hours of the attack, all kings had gathered inside the beautifully decorated Council room. Extra chairs had been arranged that day for the four clan leaders of Siligon Warriors.
"I am sure you all have been aware of this new threat that has emerged. An army of demons has started attacking our lands. They prove to be immune to our weapons. Only the Siligon Warriors have been able to slay them as of yet," King Frederick of Lamitan announced.
"But how have these monsters emerged?" King Gindolf asked.
Godag passed a look at Kraigan before speaking up, "A group of our warriors spotted a mysterious man near the borders of the Dark Lands. When they inquired him, he attacked, killing three of our warriors. The remaining fled back to the camp and informed us. Quickly, we assembled all our warriors and marched to battle against that man. However, we were defeated and lost almost half of our warriors."
"You mean to say that one man killed almost 50 Siligon Warriors?" King Jonesthon of Mayton exclaimed.
"Who is this man?" Queen Pheeona asked.
"We don't know. All we know is that he commands the entire army of demons," Godag said.
"So what can the kingdoms do about this threat? When we cannot even fight it? " Jonesthon asked.
"We might be able to fight them," Kingston interrupted.
All of the eyes in the room turned to Kingston all of a sudden.
"While I cannot speak much, it is obvious that something has happened in the history which is responsible for this new threat. The commander of those monsters mentioned something about revenge. And the origins behind our powers is connected to all of this as well. This is why we were able to fight the monsters when others failed."
"This still brings us back to my question. How are we supposed to fight them? Surely a 100 of you cannot handle this threat alone," Jonesthon said.
"Can't you break your stupid customs of not having more than a hundred warriors?" King Frederick asked.
"It's not a custom!" Lousia growled, "It is not possible. It has been tried before. The powers don't work if the number exceeds a hundred."
"So what shall we do?" Queen Pheeona asked.
"We need to venture inside the Dark Lands," Kingston announced.
A horror spread over the entire meeting.
"That is suicidal!" King Gindolf cried.
"We won't be able to survive there!" King Jonesthon declared.
"I am not talking about you. I am talking about us. We, Siligon Warriors, need to visit the Dark Lands and find some answers. Hopefully, we might be able to find a way to arm the entire Siligon against the threat," Kingston said.
"So we are supposed to just sit back and wait?" King Frederick asked.
"We need new warriors to replace our fallen ones. For that, we will require every kingdom to send ten of their best warriors to fight against this threat," Kraigan spoke up for the first time.
"That can be done. But what after it?" King Frederick asked.
"While we venture into the Dark Lands, the entire Siligon needs to make preparations for a war against this army. It is time to put aside this senseless rivalry between the kingdoms," Kingston said.
"I agree. The time has come to unite the entire Siligon under the banner of Lamitan," King Frederick announced.
"Is that why we were brought here?" Queen Pheeona shouted.
"I will not surrender myself to Lamitan!" King Gidolf protested.
Just like how it had always happened during councils, an argument broke out between all four rulers.
The shouting continued for a few minutes before Godag couldn't handle it anymore.
Without a warning, Godag slammed his foot on the ground. The shockwave wasn't lethal enough to kill anyone but had stopped the argument.
"I'll want all the kingdoms to send their warriors before tomorrow morning."
Without saying another word, Godag departed from the council room, followed by the remaining Siligon Warriors.
