The sun was beginning to rise and only a couple cats were awake. It was early newleaf and the forest was beginning to warm up from the harsh leafbare. Oceanheart and Firestar were still asleep in the leader's den. Oceanheart slowly started to open her blue eyes, she looked over at her mate and purred. She licked him in between his ears, which woke him up, as he started to wake up, Oceanheart left the den and padded into the clearing. The dawn patrol had already left and more cats were waking up. Oceanheart heard a small cough come from the apprentice's den and walked to the entrance, Nightpaw was awake, but she was coughing like a sick kit. Oceanheart stared at her kit with concern in her eyes.

"Nightpaw, are you feeling alright?" She asked. Nightpaw looked up and shook her head. Oceanheart grabbed Nightpaw by the scruff and carried her to the medicine cat's den. She poked her head inside and Jayfeather was teaching Flowerpaw how to use herbs.

"Ok, Flowerpaw, what herb do you use when greencough hits the Thunderclan camp?" He asked. Flowerpaw studied the herbs in the store.

"Catmint." She meowed and Jayfeather nodded. He noticed Oceanheart at the entrance.

"Oceanheart?" He mewed, "Come in." Oceanheart stepped inside and she gently placed Nightpaw on the ground.

"Is something wrong with her?" Jayfeather asked, as he stepped up to examine Nightpaw.

"She was in a coughing fit when I came to the den this morning. I also felt that she has a small fever, too." Oceanheart answered. Jayfeather checked Nightpaw and asked her a few question about it. He sighed and stood up. Oceanheart could tell that there was something wrong with Nightpaw, judging by Jayfeather's expression. 
                                                 
"She has whitecough, she'll need to stay in my den for a while." Oceanheart knew as well as any other cat that whitecough leads to greencough. She was scared for her kit, she had already lost one, she didn't want to lose another. Though she wondered, how did Nightpaw catch whitecough, when it's newleaf. She must have caught it in the last days of leafbare. She nodded to Jayfeather and backed out of the den, meowing goodbye to Nightpaw.

She started heading to Firestar's den and see if he's still there, he was. He was talking with Brambleclaw, his deputy. Oceanheart was worried to see the seriousness in Firestar's eyes.

"The Dark Forest is rising, we need to fight them now!" He growled, "If we wait any longer, they'll kill us all." Brambleclaw nodded. Oceanheart knew about the Dark Forest and their plan to rule the clans. She decided to stay quiet and listen to their conversation. But what she heard wasn't what she expected.

"I'm going to take all of Thunderclan to fight, along with Windclan, Shadowclan, and Riverclan." Firestar continued. Oceanheart couldn't believe what she was hearing, all of Thunderclan? Has Firestar gone crazy! There are queens, kits, elders, and young apprentices, who can't fight! She was about to leap inside and bite Firestar's ear off, until she heard an excited shriek from the camp entrance. It was Leafpool, the former medicine cat. Behind her, was a sleek black she-cat with emerald green eyes. Oceanheart didn't recognize the cat, until Jayfeather and Lionblaze stepped up.

"Hollyleaf!" The two brothers said in unison, the rest of the clan started to crowd around her. Oceanheart had no idea what the big fuse was about. Firestar padded up beside her.

"That's Hollyleaf, a cat whom has went missing moons ago. We all believed she was dead." Oceanheart looked up at the flame-colored leader. She's been in Thunderclan for 24 moons and she never knew about Hollyleaf! Flamepaw and Flowerpaw came up and sat beside their mother and looked at the crowd of cats. Hollyleaf noticed them, and started padding toward them. Oceanheart flinched as she came closer, when she was only a mouse-length away, she sat down.

"Hollyleaf, this is Oceanheart, Flamepaw, and Flowerpaw. My new mate and kits." As Firestar introduced them to Hollyleaf, Oceanheart nodded to her in greeting and Hollyleaf nodded back.

"You are one lucky cat, Oceanheart, Firestar always said that he and Sandstorm, will always be together. I guess, until he found you." Oceanheart purred, she liked Hollyleaf, she believed that they'll become great friends. She opened her mouth to say something in response, until the dawn patrol came back.

"The Dark Forest is coming!" Sorreltail shrieked, followed by Berrynose, Poppyfrost, and Brakenfur. Firestar immediately, leaped onto High Ledge.

"Thunderclan! I have decided on the cats who are fighting in this battle! Cloudtail, Brightheart, Whitewing, Cinderheart, Lionblaze, Mousefur, Hollyleaf, Ivypool, Dovewing, Oceanheart-" As he called the list of cats, he had called Flamepaw, Cherrypaw, and Molepaw, as well. Oceanheart yelled at Firestar, to not let Flamepaw fight because he just became an apprentice. Thank Starclan, he agreed, and he will guard the camp, instead of fighting.

The group of cats headed to where Sorreltail said the Dark Forest cats were. They were waiting for them. The Starclan cats appeared, just as they arrived. In the crowd, Firestar could see Spottedleaf, and he smiled at her. Oceanheart noticed and looked at Spottedleaf, and she nodded to her. Tigerstar, Shadowclan's former leader, stepped up.

"Long time no see, Firestar, I see you got yourself a new mate." He chuckled, shifting his gaze to Oceanheart. She snarled at him, with hatred in her eyes. Hawkfrost, Tigerstar's son, hissed back at her.

"Thunderclan! Attack!" Firestar ordered to his clan. In a matter of 2 minutes, the clearing, they were battling in was covered with tufts of fur and blood. Oceanheart was battling a tabby tom with scars over his ember eyes. Brokenstar, Oceanheart thought. He leaped at her, and she shifted the the side. When he landed, she jumped on his back, and racked her claw on his side. He shook her off, and sneered at her. He pinned her down and gave her a nick in the ear, as well as a scratch on her left eye. She yowled in pain, and racked her claws on his belly, she kicked him off. She got to her paw and went for another attack. She missed.

"Ha! You fight like a kit!" He teased. Oceanheart has been insulted many times in her life, and she always lets them go with a warning not to do it again. She snarled at Brokenstar, and pinned him to the ground, she bared her teeth and leaned down and bite deep into his neck. As she let go, he yowled and faded away into nothing. She heard a yowl from Hollyleaf and Oceanheart's blood ran ice cold, she turned her head to where the sound came from. Leafpool, Lionblaze, Jayfeather, Dovewing, Ivypool, and Squirrelflight, were all crowded around a life-less black shape on the ground. Oceanheart widened her eyes to see that the cat on the ground was Hollyleaf, she was dead. Oceanheart stayed at a distance from the body because she didn't want to ruin they family's time of grief. With tears in her eyes, she turned her head and stared at the spot where Brokenstar vanished, she looked around the clearing and saw that all of the other Dark Forest warriors were gone. Except one, Tigerstar.

Hey guys! Syd the Kitty here and just a little note. Don't correct me if I got how the battle started wrong because, I haven't read the Last Hope yet. So, I don't know how the battle started, I just made it up. Don't hate me please, hope you understand!
