Chapter 1
Anything marked with a "*" after it are errors I made when writing this series and are not recommended to be used in Warriors fanfictions. I made these errors in this series because it was the first Warriors series I had ever written and I would like to point them out myself.
Some asterisks (*) are placed because of incorrect wording of terms. For example, I used the word "parents" in this chapter, which doesn't fit right when referring to cats.
The warm sun of newleaf shined its light on the forest floor. A squirrel was gathering acorns, making the leaves rustle on the ground from last leaf-fall.
A dark tabby tom crept towards the squirrel, belly low to the ground. He waited until the squirrel was distracted, then lept on it, giving it a killing bite.
"Ottertail, wait for me!" a meow called out.
Ottertail faced the direction of where he came from in the forest until Shadoweyes padded through the trees. She purred when she saw he caught a squirrel and licked his cheek. He purred in response and dropped the squirrel at her paws. Shadoweyes picked up the squirrel in her jaws.
"Let's head back to the camp." Ottertail suggested. The two cats trotted to their makeshift camp in the forest that was surrounded by bushes. They jumped over the bushes and lay next to each other on the ground, sharing the squirrel.
A black she-cat padded out of a den covered by a bush. Next to her was her mate, Leopardheart. They went over to Shadoweyes and Ottertail.
"How was hunting?" the black she-cat asked.
"It was great, Nightfur!" Shadoweyes replied, licking her jaws. Ottertail purred in agreement.
Leopardheart's ears pricked up. He strolled around the camp, opening his jaws to scent any intruders. Nightfur gazed at him as he patrolled the camp.
"I hope we don't have intruders again." she meowed, remembering the time they battled Darkheart's parents. *
Ottertail got to his paws and strolled around the opposite side of the camp, scenting any possible intruders. Shadoweyes thought back to how they had to fight back two cats, Oakpelt and Silverfur, when they had attacked their camp. The two mates had lept over the bushes from one side that lead to the gorge. Would they do the same thing again?
After he was by the bushes, Leopardheart hissed, "I scent Silverfur and Oakpelt again!"
Ottertail bounded over to him and crouched. Nightfur growled and waited for the invasion. Shadoweyes got to her paws and unsheathed her claws.
A dusty brown cat lept over the bushes closest to Leopardheart and Ottertail. She yowled when she saw that the two toms were ready to defend against the ambush. Ottertail hissed and unsheathed his claws.
Leopardheart scratched Oakpelt's side, making her hiss at him and claw his ear. Nightfur waited for Silverfur's arrival, if he ever would arrive. Ottertail dodged a claw from Oakpelt and slashed at her flank. * (overusing the word "hiss")
"Silverfur, what are you waiting for? Help me!" Oakpelt yowled. There was no response.
The brown she-cat made a dash for the bushes on the opposite side, Leopardheart and Ottertail fast at her paws. Nightfur lept in front of Oakpelt, hissing and blocking her path. Shadoweyes lept on top of Oakpelt, clawing her back and holding on. Oakpelt twisted and turned in pain, trying to throw off Shadoweyes. * (overusing the word "hiss")
Leopardheart nipped Oakpelt's leg, causing her to pick up that leg and fall over on her side because of Shadoweyes's weight. Shadoweyes got off of Oakpelt, since she didn't want to kill the she-cat; she just wanted her out of their camp.
"I will leave! Just stop clawing at me!" Oakpelt hissed. Ottertail bared his teeth, growling, "You ambushed for a reason. Why?" Oakpelt's breath slowed down. She meowed, "You killed Darkheart." * (overusing the word "hiss")
Nightfur glanced, wide-eyed, at Shadoweyes. Shadoweyes gazed at her paws, shifting nervously.
"You killed her daughter?" Leopardheart yowled. Ottertail stared at Shadoweyes, skeptical. Shadoweyes broke off into a run and lept over the bushes, running to StormClan.
