Chapter 20

Sorry I haven't updated in a few days, I've been busy. Also, emokid_hasstyle is a great person and one of the closest friends I have in summer camp. They're really cool. -S

         Eliza's POV
The next morning, I told Thomas I was going back to the human place to get more cats. He didn't question and sent George with me. We padded side by side through the forest, George occasionally going into a coughing fit and having to sit beneath a tree for a moment to breathe. I flicked my tail irritably and huffed, waiting for George to be able to get moving again. "Maybe I should leave you here." I suggested. He shook his head and got up. Why didn't you let Charles treat your sickness before he left?

"I'm fine." He snapped, tail lashing. He got up and quickly shook out his pelt. We continued our short journey to the human place to gather the cats the voice, whom I still don't know the name of, had told me to. Go to the fence that lines the blue house, I have quite a large group of cats waiting for you. When you approach, just say your name and they'll follow you back to camp. The voice informed. I grinned inwardly and bounded on, George at my heels. As I spotted the blue house at the edge of the woods, I skidded to a stop at the fence. Almost ten cats sat on and around the fence.

"I'm Eliza." I announced to the cats. The all got up and the ones on the fence slithered down. They fell into step behind George and I and we led them back to camp. When we reached the entrance, Thomas was pacing at the front. As he heard us approach, he looked up and his jaws gaped in shock at the amount of cats that were following George and I.

"Wow." He murmured, half to himself. He shook off his look of shock and invited them in. Then, he sent George to go rest, knowing of his condition. "Go do a bit of hunting." He ordered me. "James will come with you to make sure you know our territory well. He'll also go with you to check up on the borders. A couple of these cats will come with you. See to it." He dismissed, flicking his tail. "You, you, and you," He said, flicking his ears towards them accordingly. "Go with Eliza and James." The three cats looked at each other and walked up to me. James nosed his way out of the den a few minutes later after making sure George was alright and there was enough room for everyone.

"Ready?" He asked. We nodded and he led the way out of camp. I managed to snag a couple mice and a vole on the first few minutes of our patrol. We stopped at the first border and James remarked it. As we were waiting for him to finish, I decided to learn a little about our new allies.

"What are your names?" I asked curiously, putting the prey down in the process.

"Bailey." The ginger tom stated, smoothing his chest fur.

"Henry." The ginger and gray tabby tom said, flexing his claws.

"Sally." A tortoiseshell she-cat muttered. The second she said that, James returned and we continued on our tour throughout the territory. Finally, we returned back to the entrance of camp.

"I see you've already caught prey, Eliza. You can go back inside. The three of you need to bring back three pieces of prey. We'll begin battle training once you've finished hunting and eating." James ordered before bounding into the forest himself. Henry, Bailey, and Sally ran in different directions, eager to make their catches and eat. I slipped through the entrance of camp and dropped my catch on a meager pile of prey. Thomas strode up to me.

"Did James tell the other cats to hunt and we'll have training later on today?" I nodded and nabbed a plump mouse. I sat in a corner of camp and began eating hungrily.

"Hi," A small white she-cat mewed. I swallowed my mouthful of mouse and returned the greeting. "My name is Ella, what's yours?"

"I'm Eliza." I said after eating another mouthful of mouse. Once I had finished, I buried the remains of the mouse and began grooming myself in the warm sunlight. James returned followed by the others, each held prey in their jaws. They deposited the prey on the pile and took prey to eat in different sections of camp.

Ella grabbed a large thrush from the pile and disappeared into the den. She returned without the thrush and went back to the pile. This time, she chose a crow and settled down next to the pile to eat it. I suppose that was for George. I licked one of my forepaws and drew it over my ear a few times. I looked up and noticed everyone had finished eating and was looking expectantly at Thomas.

"Go tell George to stay in camp and guard it, then come meet us by the large ash tree." Thomas said before gathering half of the cats and leading them out of camp. I slipped into the den and woke George. "Henry, Bailey, Sally, James, and Ella will be remaining in camp to guard it while the rest of us train. You'll stay here with them." I explained. He nodded and stood up, yawning. I slipped back out of the den and he followed. He gathered the remaining cats and began giving orders as I slipped out of camp.

Angelica's POV (Wow, a new point of view.)

I padded beside Aaron and James as we patrolled our territory. We finally came to the border where Thomas supposedly lived past. We remarked the border and were about to turn away when I heard crashing in the undergrowth. I turned to Aaron and James and it seemed like they had heard it too. Aaron swiftly climbed up the tree and glared at where the sound was coming from. I parted my jaws to drink in the air.

Other cats. Aaron leaped out of the tree and landed with a soft thump. The moment he did, five cats came through the bracken. The looked at us and one of them whispered, "Is that them?" I raked my steely gaze over these cats. Aaron seemed the recognize the black and gray tabby tom.

"Charles?" He spat. "What are you doing here?" Charles flinched but stood a little taller.

"I need to speak to Washington, we all do." Charles replied, voice quivering. Aaron snorted in disbelief and unsheathed his claws. He was about to spring at them when James put his tail in front of him, to stop him. He whispered something in his ear which made him relax his muscles. Before turning back into the forest, he licked James' ear and ran back through the forest.

"Washington?" A tortoiseshell she-cat echoed. "As in George Washington?" I looked at her, confused, and nodded. Her eyes widened and danced around the other cats she came with. "I knew it! I knew he'd be alright!" She squealed quietly. Charles' tail swished and she immediately sat down and wrapped her tail over her white paws.

     Alex's POV

I sat resting in the sunlight, occasionally flicking my ears towards other cats conversations. "I can't believe Eliza did that!" Herc exclaimed. "We should've killed her instead of letting her go."

"But, wouldn't that make us as bad as her?" Laf asked. Herc huffed, defeated. A few heartbeats later, Aaron burst into the camp.

"Washington, sir!" He yowled. Washington immediately halted his conversation with Connor, Evan, and Peggy and ran over to the entrance of camp.

"What's wrong?" He demanded.

"Five cats on the border want to speak to you. They won't tell us what they want to tell you though, so I recommend bringing a couple other cats, in case we need to fight them off." He said all in one breath. Washington nodded.

"Alex, John, and Connor," He ordered. "Come with me. Aaron, lead the way." I leaped up at the sound of my name, startling John beside me. He lazily opened one eye.

"What now?" He muttered. I shrugged and explained that Washington called us to go somewhere. John got up and stretched before padding to the entrance. Connor followed and when we we bolted out of camp. Strength flowed into my shoulder. I felt as if I could fly. We came to a halt all too soon and spotted the five cats huddled together at the border. The beige and brown tom looked familiar, though I couldn't quite place from where. Washington glared at the group with a scowl before the tortoiseshell she-cat decided to speak.

"George Washington," She squeaked. He turned his head towards he and gave her a confused look. She cleared her throat and stiffened her quaking muscles.

"M-martha?" He stuttered. "I-i though you were dead!" He exclaimed, the two cats pressing themselves against each other. Connor sat quietly, his ears twitching every so often.

"Can we stay with you, please. Thomas kicked the two of us out and the rest came because they hated Thomas." A small tom mewed quietly. Washington gave him a long look before looking back at Martha.

"You aren't coming back if they can't, right?" He asked, almost amused. She nodded stubbornly and he heaved a sigh. "Alright, fine. But, you'll each have to be assessed and we will all be training for battle, so expect hard work." He warned. They all nodded and Washington led them back to camp.

     James Hamilton's POV

I padded near the back of the group, occasionally casting glances at the brown and beige tabby tom padding next to me. I came to a abrupt halt as my mother's starry form appeared in front of me. "I've brought you to your brother. You are now reunited again." She murmured. The brown and beige tabby tom stared at the starry shape of my mother. Then he turned to me.

"James?" He asked, his voice no more than a whisper.

"Alex?" I asked, my voice cracking. Rachel's starry form nodded before disappearing.

"James!" He screeched loudly. He barreled into me and we sat there for a few moments, enjoyed each other's presence.

"C'mon, James!" Maria called. I nudged Alex, tears still streaming from my eyes.

"Let's go." I said, nosing his ear. We continued through the forest, side by side, wondering how we got so far.

Here's another (kinda) fluffy chapter. Don't worry though, bad things are going to happen soon, so don't get too comfortable. -S
