Mintleaf, a pretty tortoiseshell cat, spoke to Jayfeather in a hushed voice. "No, Lionblaze mated me, I don't even like him!" She screeched the last part. Lionblaze stepped in the medicine den, "What!"
"I'm sorry but I love Jayfeather."

Jayfeather stepped out of the den, only to walk back in. Taking the opportunity, Mintleaf told them, "I'm expecting Lionblaze's kits now. But they won't know their father. Goodbye." Mintleaf stormed off leaving Lionblaze and Jayfeather in dismay.

Jayfeather looked after Mintleaf. "Don't go!" He called.
"She'll recognize her love for me after a walk." Lionblaze calmly said. "And not give a glance for Jayfeather." he muttered under his breath. Jayfeather heard that but said nothing. "Go to your den and sleep," He told Lionblaze. That night Jayfeather got almost no sleep. He was worried about Mintleaf.

Mintleaf stormed off. She heard Jayfeather calling but ignored it. She ran into the twoleg place hoping Lionblaze and Jayfeather didn't follow her. She hopped onto a twoleg box and drifted to sleep thinking of the clanmates she left behind.

Mintleaf woke to the sound of a cat near her. "H-hello?" The black she-cat in front of her looked at her and said, "I'm Shadow. Did you know you are expecting kits in a few moons?"

"Yeah..."

"Why aren't you happier then? Tell me."

"I lived in the clans all my life. I liked Jayfeather and he liked me. However, his brother also liked me. He became mates with me without me knowing and now I have kits... I don't even like him. I mean, he is a great cat but I only like him as a friend... I guess I'm a rouge now. Call me Mint not Mintleaf." Mint's green eyes lit up with determination. Shadow seemed sympathetic. "Maybe we could start a clan?" Eagerly Mint replied, "Not a clan, an empire."

"I'll take you to my friends."
