"Cometpaw! Swiftpaw! Cometpaw! Swiftpaw!"
The clan cheered as the new apprentices stood before Twisted Roots. Cometpaw lifted her long plumed tail and puffed out her chest, ear stretching in pride. Meanwhile, her brother was the opposite. Head ducked down, tail low, his face was flushed. Yeah, they were total opposites. Cometpaw, was well, um, confident, extroverted, bouncy, proud, while Swiftpaw was all shy, nervous, introverted. See, total opposites. Despite this, they got along well. Cometpaw rested her tail on his shoulder.
He was way too nervous for her liking though. He was always fretting about something. Oh, what if I don't do this right? Oh, what if I don't say the correct words? What if I make a scene of myself at the meeting? A paw nudged her shoulder, startling her out of her thoughts. "Earth to Cometpaw? We're going out!" Swiftpaw pawed at the ground. Cometpaw blinked and shook her head.
"Yeah. Are we going together or only with our mentors?"
"We'll be doing it privately." a voice broke into their conversation. Looking up, she saw Eaglelimp standing next to them with a stern face. Quailwing walked up to Swiftpaw slowly and beckoned him away to the camp entrance.
Cometpaw had gotten Eaglelimp as a mentor, she was stern and was rather tough, while Quailwing was quiet and patient. "So, what will we do today? Hunting? Fighting? Climbing?" Cometpaw bounced around her mentor, tail thrashing around in excitement. Eaglelimp sighed, as she knew already she would have a hard time with the energetic apprentice. "We are going to tour the territory first."
Straightening up, Cometpaw nodded eagerly. Padding towards a gaping hole in a clash of boulders, the two she-cats exited the camp into the pine forest, pine needles surrounding them. "Woaaahh!!" Cometpaw gasped, eyes stretching wide, even the whites showed at the edges. "Its- its amazing."
"And this is the Pine-glow Clearing. Every night in green-leaf, a lot of fireflies will show up here and mate, making this clearing glow." her mentor explained, nodding at the thick swaths of bushes surrounding the clearing. Cometpaw gazed in awe for a few more moments and then turned back to her mentor. "Where next?"
"..The mossy boulders."
