The patrol arrived at camp. Sunstar sorrowly carried the limp body of Plumbloom to the middle of the camp. Her lifeless pale grey body made Sunstar turn away sadly. Sunstar buried her face in Plumbloom's dead body. 

Sunstar sobbed quietly and the rest of the clan gathered to mourn the sweet deputy. Plumbloom was fierce and very respectful. Sunstar would have to stay with the deputy because it was necessary plus Sunstar knew the deputy for a long time.

Swiftflight stared at the body sadly. Her heart ached and now she would have to become the deputy. Sighing she turned and walked outside. Cats stared at her in confusion as she left.

Swiftflight leaped on the large rock of Sunningrocks. Laying on her back she stared up and watched the sun lay its warm rays on her white belly. Swiftflight sighed sadly and closed her eyes. 

She wished that the deputy never died.

That the deputy had NEVER gone on a patrol.

And WISHED that the rogues never EVER existed. 

She felt tears drop on to the rock and she didn't care. Suddenly she heard pawsteps and saw Shypaw the medicine cat apprentice laying on one of the small rocks. She rested her chin on her paws. 

She could tell that Swiftflight was watching her. 

"I know you're watching me and I know how you feel..." She meowed in the moment of stillness.

Swiftflight leaped down and sat beside her. Covering her eyes with her soft paws. Shypaw lowered her paws down gently with her light pink paw. 

"I know how you feel because I wanted to be a regular warrior apprentice but sadly my sibling died when he was supposed to be a medicine cat apprentice." She mewed. Her bright blue eyes turned a bit dull with somber.

Swiftflight looked up and licked her cheek. "Don't worry, I feel your emotions right now." They heard Sunstar yowl and they looked at eachother. They dashed out quickly.

Swiftflight slid into the clearing with Shypaw. Quickly Swiftflight cleaned herself within a few moments. "Swiftflight, come please." Meowed Sunstar. Swiftflight stepped up beside Sunstar.

"Do you promise to stay beside me and fight in battles. Mourn for me in my death and be ready to be the leader?" She asked. I nodded. "I do" Swallowing a lump of fear. 

Sunstar nodded. "Then by the powers of StarClan, I command you to be my deputy of SunClan."

"Swiftflight! Swiftflight! Swiftflight!" The cats cheered. Swiftflight dipped her head. 

"Thank you, I'll protect you with all my might," Swiftflight concluded.
