-Poppystorm's POV-

Poppystorm growled as she left the den. Why can't Honeystorm just tell me the truth? We used to be so close but now...

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather here beneath the HighRock!" Flamestar's voice echoed through the clearing. Poppystorm padded over to the HighRock and soon other cats began to emerge from their dens.

"Flamekit, Blossomkit, and Butterflykit. You have all reached six moons. Well Butterflykit has reached seven moons but was held back ever since Smallki-.... Never mind that." Hailfeather meowed. Flamekit, Blossomkit, and Butterflykit all scurried forward.

"Butterflykit. Do you promise to uphold the code and work hard to earn your place in the clan?" Flamestar asked. Butterflykit hesitated then quickly nodded. 

"Then by the power of Starclan, you will now be known as Butterflypaw. Your mentor is Honeystorm. I know you'll be a good medicine cat." Flamestar meowed. Butterflypaw's eyes widened with horror. She looked at her new mentor, Honeystorm then she looked at Flamekit, her eyes full a sorrow.

"Flamekit.  Do you promise to uphold the code and work hard to earn your place in the clan?" Flamestar meowed again. Flamekit nodded vigorously.

"Then by the power of Starclan, you will now be known as Flamepaw. Your mentor is Lizardwhisker." Flamestar finished. Flamepaw bounded over to Lizardwhisker and touched noses with him.

"Blossomkit. Do you promise to uphold the code and work hard to earn your place in the clan?" Flamestar asked. Blossomkit nodded once, her eyes calm.

"Then by the power of Starclan, you will now be known as Blossompaw. Your mentor is Hailfeather." Flamestar meowed. Hailfeather and Blossompaw quickly touched noses.

"Okay. Now for apprentices. Icepaw, Mothpaw, and Acornpaw. Step forward." Flamestar mewed, his voice sounding tired. The three apprentices came forward.

"Icepaw. You have worked very hard to earn your name and I believe your mentor has trained you very well. From now on you will be known as Iceclaw." Flamestar meowed.

"Iceclaw! Iceclaw! Iceclaw!" Everyone in the clearing chanted the new warrior's name.

"Acornpaw. You have worked very hard to earn your name and I believe your mentor has trained you very well. You will now be known as Acornlight." Flamestar mewed.

"Acornlight! Acornlight!" To Poppystorm's surprise the cheering was more faint this time.

"Mothpaw. You have worked very hard to earn your name and I believe your mentor has trained you very well. From now on you will be known as Mothfeather." Flamestar finished. But this time there was no cheering. Mothfeather blinked his light blue eyes and looked around the clearing but there was a thin silence.

Mothfeather finally dipped his head to Flamestar and padded away, his eyes full of hurt.

"Mothfeather..." Poppystorm whispered. She gazed at Mothfeather sympathetically.
Mothfeather lowered his head and turn away from Poppystorm. She sighed and wrapped her tail around his flank comfortingly.

"Even if the others don't accept you, I'll always be there for you..." Poppystorm whispered softly.
