-Briarlight's POV-

Briarlight moved her nest closer to the opening of the medicine den. The bright stars shone slightly into the den and this comforted her. I'm not even tired right now... Briarlight pricked her ears hoping to hear a sound. Silence... Her eyes suddenly fell on Jayfeather, who was curled up in his nest. Briarlight sighed and felt the same pang of longing. He's a medicine cat though... Besides, who could love someone who can't even walk right?

"Jayfeather?" Briarlight suddenly meowed. The words had slipped out... 

"Is something wrong, Briarlight?" Jayfeather yawned from across the den.

"U-um... No... I just wanted to k-know if you were uh, awake." Briarlight meowed. Briarlight flattened her ears. Wow, very smart Briarlight. The den fell silent again. Then to Briarlight's surprise thunder suddenly sounded outside. Briarlight jumped and accidentally banged her nose on the floor of the den.

"Ouch!" Briarlight growled.

"Are you okay?" Jayfeather asked. The blind medicine scrambled to his paws to look at her nose.

"I-I'm fine I just got startled by that thunder.." Briarlight answered, rubbing her nose with her paw. 

"Try to be a bit more careful.." Jayfeather replied.

"I just really hate thunderstorms... It scares me every time..." Briarlight mewed softly.

"That's fine. I'll just sleep next to you. Will that help?" Jayfeather asked.

"S-sure." Briarlight meowed. Jayfeather moved his nest next to hers and curled up. Briarlight blushed but was soon fast asleep.
