Running through the crowd of the new year party, I don't know what I am looking for but I could sense it closer.

Desperately rubbing my eyes every other minute for better vision as tears were making it hard to see.

I don't know, how long I have been like this, running, falling, getting up, rubbing the tears off, and running once again.

The pain in my heart is hard to cope with, with every other step I take, it feels like I am stepping over my heart as it is an expectation to see the thing I have been desperately searching for.

Everyone at the party is ignoring me like I am invisible to them.

"Matthew?"

I whirl around and frown. It felt like I was looking at my reflection, but the more I looked the more I could see the difference. The guy in front of me was shocked but healthy and without any injury unlike me.

His face looked perfect as it didn't have any scars or stress over it.

I limped toward him a little, and he looked confused and scared but decided to turn around and run.

Helplessly I started to limpingly run toward him while crying out "Please, Matthew you have to help me, please!"

But to no avail, he was gone into the black void and as I look into the void the world around me started to swirl first slowly, then faster. As I try to focus on one thing, I could feel the suction from the void, trying to suck me in.

I got hold of the table in front of me, shouting for help but couldn't see anybody, the crowd that was here was now gone.

The table became slippery, my feet started lifting in the air toward the void.

The fear, pain, and helplessness inside me are growing and consuming every good thought I ever had and replacing it with dread.

Tears streaming down my face are burning the scars on my cheeks.

while I am trying hard to hold the table and not get sucked inside the dark void.

What am I into? What did I do for this to happen to me? Thoughts roam my mind as the table I was holding vanishes and I got sucked inside the void...

"Aghhh, what?"

"Get your ass in the office Mat, your meeting with Miss. Frost is in 10 minutes."She sounds irritated. Well, I should be the one irritated.

"WHAT? What time is it?" I got up from the bed and plugged my phone into the charger and put it on speaker as fast as I could.

"Sometimes I wish your dad should have built a watch instead of a time machine."

As I heard the taunt I ran towards the phone to taunt her back.

"Well, sometimes I wish..."*call ends* as always I couldn't. Why the hell I made a friend like her?

Then I saw fresh fruits and breakfast on the table near the window and thought because she has Ma.

*After shower*

"Why is the plate still full?" Ma asked.

"Ah, oh, I wasn't aware of it?"

"You okay Matty, you know, a mother could easily tell if her child is stressed about something."

*ping*

"She is making you stressed," Ma says, pointing towards the cell which is flashing messages from Alice.

"Umm, yeah, kind of," I said, getting off.

"I need to run, or she is going to murder me," I exclaimed while hugging her.

Grabbing my things I left the house, the car ride to the office was silent, with all that happened in my dream and real-life going round and round like a tornado and destroying every possible logic that I threw at it.

I got out of the car, to the entrance of my office building and put it in Bot parking mode, and walked a few steps to the entrance.

The glass doors slid open as the automated security system identified my face quickly and Clara the multi-functional AI greeted me a good morning as I walked inside.

Without wasting a moment I turned left towards the elevator and pressed the 6th-floor button on it. As it started, I turned right to check myself out on the screen on the wall.

My face doesn't show any amount of stress and anxiety I was going through.

With a ping, the elevator door opens up. The AI had alerted the office at my entrance as I saw Alice near the glass door of my cabin and people working and doing everything as fast as they could.

Although I am the chill boss they still behave like, I will fire anyone and everyone who is not working, maybe because of Alice, she is a dictator.

I entered my cabin ignoring Alice and could see her alarming expressions as I moved past her, still she burst into the cabin after me.

I smiled at her and sat on the chair saying "What's wrong?"

"She wants to schedule 'Changing' today," she complains, sitting on the chair opposite my desk and placing the file in front of me.

"What's to worry about Ali, tell her it is not possible, it is too risky," I said, flipping the file open with Miss. Frost's details and family matters in it.

"I told her every possible risk and consequence that could happen without proper research, she still wants to do it today and also offered double the amount if we did it today"

"Why today? What's so important about this day?" I couldn't even concentrate on the file I am reading because of the amount that she is offering.

Firstly, we are the most futuristic technology group, we create weapons and tools both, but the time warp is a totally another level of our company, as time warping can create more complications and more problems in someone's as well as my life, we take tons of money for just that.

And someone giving that much amount of money means he/she is desperate.

Now the question is, why is she so desperate?

"I guess her brother is suspecting something after seeing you talk with her at that party. So, what to do now?" Alice questions.

Well, if she only wants me to change a bit from her brother's life, then I guess there is no risk in it.

"Tell her we can do it today, only if she pays double the amount today before 6."

"But mat, You could..."Alice howled, shock plastered on her face.

"Don't worry Alice, I'll handle everything. You clearly know that I need the money, I'll be safe, but I need to do this."

"You'll have to, I don't want to lose my only best friend and Ma would kill me if I don't take care of her lovely matty, you know." she jokes still tension visible on her face...

"Yeah, yeah, call her and tell her to submit documents that are listed and get the Cyber team to work on that document's credibility. I don't want to get thrown into a snake pit without understanding it."

"Okay, but don't you think it's..." Agh this girl

"Alice, she is offering us the double amount, don't you know how much that is going to be, I am not taking risks, if I don't get every single penny paid in advance, you know me so don't worry."

"Okay then." She tended and turned walks out of the door.

"That money is going to be an easy pie"
