Chapter Six

My life became interesting after that call from him. We are friends now! You know, friends... We can go hang out whenever we want and then if something bad happens to me, I'll call him and ask for advice. He seemed have more experience than me, anyway.

Come to think of it, I have a very handsome friend! Anyone could be so jealous of me for being a friend of an attractive man from head-to-toe! I can feel my heart beating strangely again. It's exciting as I can't wait to hang out with him.

They say a true friend knows everything about their friend. However, I'm not like that. I only know Shannie is a very loud type and hard to calm. She has so many enemies at school. She and her ex are not on good terms. She has the most positive outlook on life. In short, Shannie is optimistic. Then Yulla, I know she's the most mature among the three of us. She has a long-time boyfriend. They were arranged by their parents and fortunately, they learned how to love each other. I envy her sometimes for having such a loving boyfriend that stayed with her for more than years.

That's what I only knew about them and Dawn, I just know that their family is the owner of the most successful Corporation Company in the country. The HL Corporations. He already graduated but I don't know what course. How old is him anyway? maybe twenty-six? Err—so old.

“Bye Dad!”

I kissed my Daddy on the cheek before heading to the front door. The butler was waiting for me outside and as he saw me, he started the engine.

I am just wearing a simple white racerback and ripped black high-waisted jeans. It fits in my body so much since it is the stretchable one.

The semestrial break is over. I know that I have to focus on my studies so I will. Promise, I won't go to nightclubs and drink. I have many homework to do. And I don't want Dad to be mad again. That's a promise.

“Woah! There she goes!”

“Goodness, wish that I have a body like that too.”

“Hey, Helly is here!”

I confidently flipped my hair as I walk past the hallway. They automatically made space so I can walk well and I didn't bother to look at even one of them. My admirers welcomed me warmly and that is what I love in schooldays. Even nerdy girls are drooling at me. I really am so gorgeous!

They should thank my Mom and Dad for creating me. They made a really gorgeous daughter! Well, I got it from my Mommy as well. She was a beauty queen back then while my Daddy was the President of the student council.

“Hi Miss Helly, can I take a picture?”

I saw a circle of freshmen go near me. I smiled genuinely at their camera. They immediately flutter. Oh, it's just me.

“Her pale skin suits her well!”

I heard from one of the students. I don't have enough time to throw my attention to them as I realize that I am late! I spent one hour on the way here! There are also universities near our mansion but I prefer here in Suneast University. They don't have bitchy students (well except me) and gangsters. Unlike that Ravenwood Academy and Crimsondale. So many students who act superior and so many bullies!

Luckily, as I walked toward the room, the professor already dismissed his students. Nice, as usual, I'm late. How can I study well?

My Daddy will be mad again once he finds out that I went to school late. It's not my fault though. My butler is just driving safely, not fastly.

We went to the next subject afterward and, unfortunately, the terror biology professor threw a surprise quiz about random topics in biology. Nice welcome for the first day of the new semester.

The day passed normally. Just a typical day. Nothing is special.

Few days passed, I and Dawn are still communicating but only through phone calls and texts. We didn't even try to go on facetime. Before I sleep at night, he's always the one who I'm talking with. He always asks me how my day is, and my homework and if he can help me. There's one time that I let him answer my homework and when I submitted it to the professor, I got the highest score. Not even a single mistake. So, I thanked him. Yes, he has the brain. Indeed, Dawn is almost perfect.

As I promised myself, I will not go out again. I am focusing on my studies and how I can survive this course. Or I might not.

“I don't want to make this hard for you… I know that you always go to school late.”

I gulped. My food almost choked me. I slowly look at Daddy who's busy eating our dinner.

“You knew?!” I grabbed the glass of water beside my plate immediately. “D-Dad! I'm sorry…”

He chuckled after hearing my apologetic voice. “Don't worry, I understand. Uh, actually I want to suggest what if you'll get a unit and live on your own? In that way, you can live independently, it's also no longer hard for your schedule.”

My mouth is half-opened. I am going to live with myself alone?! I don't think I can do that. I can't imagine myself cooking for my own meal! I don't even know how to cook and I don't even know how to use vacuum cleaner! I don't also want to leave Dad. I would probably miss him.

“D-Dad, no! I don't want to leave you here alone.” I responded by sipping the soup from the bowl.

“Oh, you're not leaving totally. You'll stay here for vacation and weekends but you'll live there on schooldays. If you're worried about me, I'm going to call you from time to time and visit there as I could. Come on Helly, this is for you too.” he almost pleaded.

This is for my own good, I get it. But what if it would not be good for me? What if I'll cry at night because I miss this home. Even though having that kind of thought, I nodded as I didn't know what to say. “Fine.” I agreed. It has advantages, though. I won't go to school late anymore.

I didn't know that Daddy already planned this because, on the next day, he helped me pack my things. Of course, I don't have a problem with it. At some point, I felt excited as I was able to invite my friends as well as Dawn to have some shots with me! That sounds interesting.

“Bring this photo of your Mommy, for safety purposes.” Daddy smiled.

“Why? Is she going to help me and kill those culprits for me? to save me?” I asked sarcastically but he just pinched me on my waist. He told me that I shouldn't make fun of my Mommy's ghost.

Okay fine. I'm sorry Mommy. (Insert my crying face)

“Dad! Where are you going?” I screamed.

He only helped me pack my things and then bid goodbye because he told me he will leave. What the heck?! Who will drive me to my unit? I don't even know what the building looks like.

“Hospital, Helly, Dr. Smith called me.”

I raised my brows and he knows what I mean. Daddy, you can't just leave me here with my baggage. He glared at me as if guessing my expression. I am just being clingy. I might cringe at myself after but I don't care.

“Fine but let's hurry up. I have a lot of patients”

I immediately ran to him and hugged him. He's going to drive for me to my unit! I immediately grabbed a pink cardigan and black high-waisted short pants. I only wear my flip-flops.

Dad did drive me to my own unit and even help me with my baggage. He didn't here for long, though because after thirty minutes, if my count are right, he bid goodbye immediately.

I collapsed on the couch when he left. This building is somewhat familiar to me. When we arrived at the parking lot, the place was very familiar and I don't know why. It was like I'm getting a déja vu because it seems like I'd been here. However, I truly don't remember anything.

“Hooh, this feels so good, Helly.” Shannie lazily lay on the couch. As well as Yulla.

I told them about me and my new condo unit yesterday. They seemed excited so I invited them to come here on the weekend. Yulla brought a canned beer with her and she said, we should enjoy this moment without boys for me. I don't mind though, that's completely fine with me.

I closed my eyes firmly as I felt the taste of the beer. The two minions just laughed at me and Shannie was the one who had the most thunderous laugh. I don't know what's with me because I just found myself throwing a can of beer at her but she caught it.

“Hey, by the way, how's your boyfriend?” I heard Yulla's attention dart at me.

My brows suddenly furrowed at what I heard. “Boyfriend?!”

“Dawn Hadley, right? The heir of HL Corporations?” she added.

My brows furrowed again. What is Yulla talking about? “Heir?!”

My eyes widened as I heard. An heir?! Yeah, I know that his family owns a business but I didn't know that he's the heir! And heck, he's not my boyfriend for Pete's Sake!

“I don't have a boyfriend!” I shouted. They were shocked.

Fake news again. I don't even know Dawn that much so how can I label him as my boyfriend?! And he didn't even court me.

“Fling?” Yulla asked.

“No! We are just friends. Okay? just a friend.”

I answered and sipped on my beer. The two are still glaring at me as if they don't believe me. Shannie even mouthed “Are you sure?” like do I have to say it a million times?

“I just slept at his home and ate breakfast with him that day, that's it. And we're truly just friends!”

Yulla reacted, “Hmmm, okay. As you says so.”

“Helly, I think he will fall inlove with you.” She smirked.

My forehead creased. “Shannie?! What kind of theory is that? I'm too young for him!”

Though I still don't know how old he is but he seems old. I am twenty-years old and he's maybe at his mid-twenties. He already graduated while I'm still studying.

“Just guessing!”

Let's go back to the ‘heir’ thingy. It still didn't sink in my head. So my friend is the heir?! Damn, after all the calls we had he didn't tell me that. Every time I ask him about his faves, he only answers “I don't have a specific one.” Funny how I call him my friend yet I only know his name. Dawn is being so unfair! He almost knew everything about me! I told them all to him. Even my first crush who rejected me way back in my high school days. I suddenly remembered it. Err—I realize that I'm too gorgeous for him. He didn't say anything and just listened to my random stories.

On that night, the three of us got drunk. We don't have a choice but to fit in my bed. They don't want to sleep in the guest room as they want me to sleep with them. Such a clingy. It's not our first time sleeping with each other because we've already done this multiple times at Yulla's unit.

Everything went so fast because, after a day, both of them bid for goodbyes.

“Baboosh my Eummie babyboo! Shannie wants a kiss!”

I rolled my eyes at Shannie. Even though it was against my will, I kissed her on the cheek. I rolled my eyes again when she giggled.

Shannie drove herself alone as Yulla was picked up by her boyfriend. I can't hide my laugh as I saw how the boy clenched his jaws seeing his fiancee so wasted even though it was still morning. She goes home without even washing herself.

“Bye, I got to visit Daddy at the house.”

I actually miss my Daddy as I'm trying to adapt to my new environment. Before I sleep at night, I always think about him. I wonder if he talked about my Mommy in his dreams? He must've felt so alone now.

She just waved at me and made a flying kiss. I don't know why she always loves to cling to me.

I went back to my unit first as I forgot to bring my phone. I walked her to the parking lot. I want to call Daddy and tell him that I want to go home but how can I do it if I don't have a phone with me?!

As I turned myself back, I saw a familiar black mustang heading into the parking lot. I had a hint in my mind so I stopped walking. My feet were both glued to the ground as I had to wait for the owner to come out.

Until I saw a very familiar hypnotizingly handsome man come out. He immediately met my widened eyes.

Ugh, I remember that night again!

My arms fell to my mouth automatically.

“Helly?” he walked near me.

Oh my goodness. How to react?! His presence was different as it made me gasp for air. My knees are trembling as his dark eyes darted toward me.

“What are you doing here?”

I got starstruck so I failed on answering. I knew it! We live in the same building! That was making everything so familiar!
