Chapter Seventeen

Before, I used to avoid myself from falling in love. Just like other teens, I had multiple crushes. I want to get their attention because that's what a person who fell in love would do.

“I don't like you Helleon. Please stop chasing me because it's annoying.”

“What if I don't want to stop?” I raised my brows as a sign for him that I'm curious about what he would gonna do.

“I will always push you away until you get tired,” he said right in my face. “I like someone else, Helleon and I want only her. I hope you understand.”

Then, he leave me alone and days after that, he acted like he doesn't know me while busy holding his girlfriend's hands.

I could still remember how my first crush rejected me back when I was still fourteen. I know that he doesn't like me. I dressed like an innocent introvert before. Yes, my parents spoiled me but not in the way I dress. I used to wear a simple shirt, daddy jeans, and sneakers. I'm not that totally boyish because my hair is tied in piggy.

He is the reason why I changed and start to commit something rebellion against my parents. I started to wear revealing clothes and those girly outfits. Years have passed, and I am desperate enough that I want to please everyone. Mostly boys. I then committed to making out and got flutter every time I got a compliment from them.

I always remember him, the first boy who rejected the gorgeous Helleon Eummer Addingston who forsaken her responsibility as a supposed-to-be-a-heiress. Funny.

After him, I didn't fall in love again with someone. Not until that Shannie's birthday come and she invites us to go to our favorite bar. I make out with a boy who I really don't even know the name of. He leaned me to the black mustang which I didn't expect that the owner of it, will make me feel a strange feeling again. However, this time, he's the one sending signs at me, not the other way around.

I am opening my heart to the owner of the black mustang, the heir and CEO of the Hadley Corporation. I knew it, I love him. I so much do and I hope this thing will last forever until my last breath.

“You aren't listening, aren't you?”

I rolled my eyes as my very annoying so-called suitor started to scold me again like I'm his daughter. I don't know if I will be considered cheating but heck, Dawn is not yet officially mine.

“Why do you care anyway?” I rudely responded.

He destroyed my day-dream like-err.

“The professor said, we need to do a review because the midterm is near.”

“I can review things on my own.” I imagine myself asking Dawn to help me review for our midterms. That would be fantastic! I shouldn't let this guy here ruin my imagination so I should push him away.

“Your dad told me to be with you. Eh, are you provoking him again now?” He smirked as I roll my eyes.

“What the hell is wrong with you?! I told you I can do things on my own. Go tell that to Dad since that's what you're good at,” I shouted and harshly grab my things as I leave the room. I left him there.

I go with Shannie and Yulla on dismissal. They are walking with me and we are heading to the Suneast's parking lot. I know that Dawn's waiting for me there. He just texted me.

“Bye guys! See you around!” I enthusiastically bid my goodbye to them.

“Hey, Helly! Give me a kiss!”

I rolled my eyes when I heard what Shannie shouted. I went to her and gave her what she wants.

“Feeling out of place.” Yulla voiced out from out of nowhere. I know what she means so I went to her and kissed her too. She smiled as I chuckled at her reaction. I kissed them on their cheeks.

I waved my hand to them for the last time and went into Dawn's car.

“We've been friends too but why is it I didn't get any kiss from you?”

My mouth was left half-open when I heard Dawn's complaint. Heck, but you kissed me multiple times now. We are not even couples and I don't know why he is always kissing me. I'm scared to ask.

I don't know if this is somewhat fast for us but I don't want to make him wait when I know that I also have feelings for him. Uh, is he courting me?

“You always get a kiss from me, Dawn, why are you complaining? You're even stealing one sometimes.” I hissed.

“I just did once, Helly. Right, I love kissing you out of the blue. I love seeing your reaction.”

I raised my brows. Does he find my reactions entertaining?!

“And by the way, you only gave me a hug before but not a kiss!” he blurted.

I really want to let out a laugh but I don't know if this scene of ours is funny. Look how this grown man acts like a child just because I didn't kiss him before.

“I only kissed them on the cheeks but I kissed you on the lips, Dawn.” I rolled my eyes and let out a soulful laugh.

“How about Ethann, don't tell me you also kiss your suitor? ”

I immediately shook my head. What kind of question is that? “No way!”

He just shrugged. I think he is trusting me now.  When you love someone, you automatically trust them even though you don't think they deserve it. But I know, Dawn is worth trusting for. He won't betray my feelings. Funny but I know how he loves me. He loves me so damn much. So am I.

Our kiss stopped when I felt my phone vibrate. Sign that someone just texted. It was daddy.

From Daddy:

Get dressed. I'll pick you up later on your unit, we got invited to Mr. Vestreo Hadley's bday Helly.

As I read the text, I turned to Dawn who's finally driving now. His focus is just on the road. They have the same surname as the birthday celebrant.

“Dawn?” I called him.

“Hmm?”

“Who's Vestreo Hadley?”

“That's my grandfather. Why?” he suddenly turned his head to me and went back to the road again.

“Today's his birthday?” I added a question.

“Hmm, yeah,” he answered as if he didn't have the appetite.

“Then why are you here? You should get yourself ready for tonight's event!” Now, I'm the one who's complaining.

It's his grandpa so he better go there!

“I don't have plans of attending the event. He didn't require me to attend anyway. Nothing is special about the party Helly, he only adds another year of his existence. That's it.”

I can feel that I want to punch this man right now. Whatever it is, he should go there because it's his grandpa! How dare he say that there's nothing special about it, a person who was still able to add another year of existence should be thankful.

“Whatever. So maybe I won't go too? My family got invited.”

I didn't know that we had already arrived at the building. I knew it when the car's engine stopped.

“You're invited?!” As if he is shocked. Nothing's special about it Dawn.

“Uh, yeah,” I answered. Still bothered about his reason a while ago.

He stopped in a minute. As in, like hanging.

“I see. Grandpa didn't require me to attend but as his respectful grandson, my presence would mean a lot there. It's better for me to attend, right?”

I just rolled my eyes. I don't know but there's a part of me saying that his sudden change of mind, it's because I told him that I will be there later. However, maybe, it's because he really wants to attend his grandfather's birthday.

“Whatever Dawn, see you later,” I said and went out of his car.

“You want me to pick you up later?”

I immediately shook my head. “No! My Daddy will be here anytime now. See you later at the party!”

I went to him and gave him a simple kiss on the cheeks but he turned his head. That's why I kissed his lips instead. Damn your moves.

“See you later, then ” he gently whispered.

A smile crept to my lips. “Yeah, see you. ” I chuckled and then we kissed again.

After taking shower, I grabbed a nude pink silky glittering bodycon dress. It really fits my body and it also has a slit on the right leg where my pale right leg will reveal. Its length is below my knees so I can say that it's not that showy. Maybe?

I paired it with black stilettos. I didn't bother to tie up my wavy hair. I grabbed my purse and that's it. I'm ready to go. Daddy just arrived on time.

“Beautiful as always, my princess. ”

I smiled at Daddy's compliment. He is wearing formal attire. I kissed his cheek and then clung to his arms.

When we arrived at the said venue, multiple camera clicks were everywhere. I used my hands to shield. I'm not used to getting exposed to cameras except my own camera.

“Helly, you're stunningly beautiful. ”

I heard a really familiar voice from behind. I turned to him and my eyes widened. I didn't expect him to be here. I raised my eyebrows to him but he seemed not to notice it. Daddy called his name.

“I'll just have some acquaintance with some of our family friends Ethann, take care of my daughter,” he commanded Ethann. The heck? This is gross.

“Yes sir, no worries. ” Ethann formally bowed his head.

Yeah, somehow, he has the respect.

Even though it was against my will, I clung my arms to him. I secretly cringed. It sends shivers to my spine and it's like his arms are some kind of electrified object.

We walked past the red carpet while facing the tons of cameras. I even saw some familiar faces widen their eyes as they saw me. Uh, that's how popular I am. I think.

We sat at the empty table. Ethann manly held the seat for me and I just smiled at him. He seemed shocked.

“People here might think that we are couples.” he started a topic.

I didn't listen to whatever he said, I'm busy searching for someone. I am secretly looking for someone's presence but it seems like he is late.

“Uhm,” I muttered.

“It's better for them to think that way though, right? ”

Can I punch him? But heck, I don't want to make a scene here.

As I am busy looking for him, my wish came true. However, my heart immediately almost broke into pieces when I spot him, face seems joyful while with another girl. When I look at her properly, she has the nice and curvy body. Something like hourglass shape. She's stunningly beautiful.

I secretly bit my lips as my heart beats so fast. Seeing them together is like an electricity that crept in my body. It was not because of the fluttering. It's because I'm hurt. My hands are trembling now as I hid them under the table and my eyes are still on them.

He smiled at the camera while his arms are on the girl's waist. Damn it. He also did that thing to me. Holding my waist like claiming that I am his property. I thought it was only me who felt hands of Dawn in my waist. 

“You okay?” I heard Ethann.

I just nodded to him while my heart was screaming in pain. As if Dawn will be able to hear 'em. I want to go to him and throw punches ar him. I want to go to him now but I can't.

We only kiss but I don't own him. He can date whoever he wants...
