chapter 14
"Are you serious? We'll get out of here? That's wonderful!" The dwarf prince exclaimed.
"Yes, I have heard Ravenessa's cries for help between the realms. Call it fate or my destiny, but I will get you home."
Stergis spoke with an emotion he had not felt in a long time. It felt nice to help people, though he hated the thought of it until now. It had been so long since he cared for another being. It felt strange. He couldn't really help being charmed by her. He didn't know why but he felt close to her even though they just officially met less than an hour ago. She had captivated him, it was as if she had him entranced by the soul.
"Well sir how do we get out of here undetected?" asked the old fellow.
"Magic sleeping powder for whoever gets in the way."
The color drained from the dwarf completely. "Magic doesn't work here." He looked beyond disappointed, as if someone just shot him.
"It does if you put the right multi- realm enchantment." Stergis explained to him.
"George buddy, relax I'm a dark sorcerer I've trained my entire life for situations like this." He reminded the little old man. George nodded to him in agreement.
"Now then how many people from our world are trapped in this place?" Stergis asked getting down to business.
"I think somewhere near tweny people, give or take a few."
Stergis had a look of deep thought on his face. The other two waited for him to speak again, unsure as to what he could be planning. Stergis gave them a wicked little smirk.
'Here's what we will do, George gather all of them from our realm, keep it calm and ordinary. I will sprinkle the sleeping powder on all the people in the little white coats." Then he turned to Ravenessa. "I have been so glad to meet you and given the honor to rescue you from this horrid place." I would like to see you again when we get back, if that is okay with you." He asked her with a softer tone than he had gotten used to.
She could sense something about this sorcerer. She felt something with him, but she couldn't figure out what it was, but she was going to have a great time figuring it out. Perhaps divine intervention was at work here. As if some unknown force had led them together. She could sense his essence, she could feel his pain of solitude over years, she could read him.
" Stergis I'd love that sometime, maybe over dinner one evening." She replied, giving him a soft smile. At that moment the ice block around his stone cold heart began to thaw. He held her hand , feeling the warmth of another's touch. It had been so long and he missed it. He didn't realize exactly how much he missed it until right now. He didn't want to move from her side but he had a job to do. For once in his life he wanted to be the nice guy, it felt different to him. He told her farewell as he and George got their plan into action.
He headed off to go take care of the workers in the little white coats. He was good at sneaking up on people, he knew quite a lot of illusion magic. He didn't take long to powder all of them. As he finished up with his part of the escape plan, George had everyone ready in the social room. They were all ready for their overdue departure. He gave Ravenessa the signal that they were ready. She paced the hall for any sign of him. She couldn't believe it she was going to finally go home. She then headed back to the room with the others and waited for him.
Stergis headed back to his dear sweet dark Ravenessa. He couldn't help being intrigued by such an enchanting creature. He couldn't wait to be home in their world, spending time getting to know this dark goddess. He picked up the pace and headed back near her room. Then he headed for George's but half way there he saw a room of twenty or so people. He walked in the room, saw her there and a few people he recognized. Some had their faces turned so he couldn't tell.
