Chapter Thirty Six

DEAN'S POV

"What the hell do you think you are doing in bed with my daughter." Mr. Anderson boomed barging into the room making me jump away from River onto my feet.

There had been no reason to get away from River, she was my wife but I had only just arrived in LA, I did not want a bullet in my head so soon. Mr. Anderson was as strict as they came and I was not ready to cross him.

River got out of bed and joined me, standing protectively next to me.

"Dad this is my room, you can't just barge in here like that." River demanded.

"Yes, I can, it is my house, I will enter wherever I damn well please." Mr. Anderson replied.

Watching River and her father go head-to-head like that allowed me to see just how similar the daughter was to her father, though my darling wife would never admit to that. Both of them were proud, head-strong, fierce and scary when angry.

"By all means do, but next time I will not apologize for what you walk in on. Dean and I are married after all and there are activities, we must partake in. We have been experimenting with the idea of having an audience. Maybe you can be our first spectator." River grinned making her father grimace.

See what I mean.

The idea of River and I having sex with her father watching was repulsive yet she had just bravely suggested that to him without blinking.

"He is not staying in this room. Young man get your bags, Claudia will show you to another room." Mr. Anderson barked looking at me.

I was about to jump into action when River grabbed my hand.

"Don't you dare move Dean. We are not sleeping in separate bedrooms. Now father if you are done talking, it was a long flight and Dean and I need some rest. Please show yourself out." River demanded leaving no room for an argument.

Mr. Anderson sighed in defeat knowing that he had lost this round. With a huff he turned around and left the room. River stalked towards the door and slammed it shut shaking the whole floor.

"I cannot believe the nerve of my father. As if I would let us sleep in separate bedrooms. If he could get his way, you would be sleeping in the dungeons." River scoffed.

"There are dungeons?" I choked out.

"Yes, underneath the house but they haven't been used in years. My mother got tired of my father bringing his business into our home so he banned him and he was forced to find some place else." She explained.

Her explanation did nothing to reassure me since all I could think about now was the fact that there were torture chambers under the mansion and I was now under the same roof with the mafia. Maybe I really hadn't thought this through but no, I couldn't let River face her father on her own.

"Nothing will happen to you Deanie for as long as I am here." River reassured me walking into my arms.

I held her tight as we hugged in the middle of her big bedroom. If I had thought that the mansion, we had bought in Karen was huge then the house River grew up in was an estate. It was triple the size of our house and even with the half hour tour we had not covered all of it. To say that the sheer size of it was intimidating would be an understatement. River's father was rich rich and by extension so was she as she was his heir and being here with them was allowing me to see just how much my world was different from hers.

"How about we take a shower, eat then take a nap? We need to be well rested for tonight." River suggested.

"What's tonight?" I asked her as she led me to the bathroom.

For some reason I expected her to tell me that we would be taking part in some human sacrifice or human torture of some kind.

"We are going clubbing with Demi and Evan." She informed me.

"I thought we were not going?" I reminded her.

"I thought so too but after that confrontation with my father I want to spend as little time in this house with him as I can so we are going clubbing." She explained.

"Yes ma'am." I grinned knowing I would follow her to the ends of the world if she asked me.

River's bathroom was massive leading me to further believe that my wife would never have survived in my studio apartment for long. But our new home was perfect for her and hopefully we would be able to get back to it soon.

Claudia the nice woman who had welcomed me so nicely had put everything away including our toiletries so River and I had no trouble of finding what we needed. We took a very quick shower together and changed into some fresh clothes.

Food had already been delivered in the room while we were in the bathroom, so we sat on the chairs in the balcony overlooking the massive estate and shared a meal together while River told me all about her life growing up in the States.

Later River locked the door to keep unwanted guests from barging in and we passed out on the bed cuddled together.

We managed to get a few hours of blissful sleep until we were rudely interrupted.

"River!!!" The unmistakable voice of Demi yelled from the door.

River groaned in my arms as the door handle rattled when Demi jiggled it. The door was locked so there is no way she was getting in.

"Tell her to go away." River moaned softly burying her face further into my neck.

I chuckled knowing there is no way I could tell her best friend that.

"River open this door right now before I get someone to kick it in." Demi demanded.

"We've barely been here twelve hours and I am ready to go back to Kenya." River lamented as she struggled to get out of my arms.

"I wanted to leave the moment we steeped onto that runway." I replied.

"You and me both babe." River said giving me an apologetic smile as she got to the door.

She opened it to let Demi in who came in dressed to the nines carrying three garment bags in her hands.

"Get dressed we are going clubbing. I brought clothes." Demi cheered making herself comfortable on the bed next to me.

"I have clothes Demi." River retorted.

"I know you have clothes that's why I brought you some. Nothing you own is worth wearing to the club. Nice abs by the way Dean, have you been working out?" She asked eyeing my naked torso.

I felt weird with her looking at me like that so I pulled the sheets up to cover myself.

"Stop eyeing my husband and get out of my room. We will get dressed and meet you downstairs in half an hour." River demanded.

She did not wait for Demi to get up on her own. Instead, she took her hand and led her out of the room locking it once again.

"Ready to go clubbing Deanie?" River asked looking at me.

"Yes." I nodded because I wanted to experience the LA nightlife for myself.

I wanted a story worth telling Dishan when we went back.

"Why don't you pick a dress while I call mom to tell her that we landed safely." I suggested getting out of bed.

"Great. Say hello for me." River replied picking up the garment bags.

I found my phone and after getting the Wi-Fi password from River, I stepped out onto the balcony and called my mom.

She was really happy to hear from me and we spent a couple of minutes talking as I tried my best not to lie to her but still divulge enough information to sell our story. She bought it which was good as I was still having mixed feelings about how I had left things back home. At least River and I had sorted them out financially so as long as we didn't stay in LA for more than three months then they would be okay.

"Everyone okay back home?" River asked me as I walked back into the room after ending the call with my mom.

She was seated infront of the vanity mirror doing her make up.

"Yes, and they all send their love especially mom. She demands lots of photos." I replied.

"Which she will get as from tomorrow. I don't think she will like photos from tonight of her daughter-in-law in skimpy dressing grinding on her son." River chided.

I laughed and walked towards her putting my hands on her shoulders as I bent over to kiss the top of her head.

"I like every bit of that statement especially the grinding part." I teased.

"I knew you would." River grinned. "I already picked out an outfit for you." She said pointing at the bed.

I walked towards the laid-out clothes and found a white t-shirt, blue ripped jeans, black boots and a black denim jacket.

"Thank you waridi, and what will you be wearing?" I asked her.

"Something that will have you fighting men off me all night and my father extremely mad." River answered with a cheeky smile.

"I don't like that statement but as long as you like it babe then I will fight off anyone who so as tries to breath in your direction." I assured her.

"I knew there was a reason I married you Mr. Kamau." River grinned going back to doing her makeup.

I smiled at her and stripped to get dressed since we had already showered before our nap. River did good in picking out an outfit for me because I especially liked how the t-shirt hugged my biceps. I knew that Mr. Anderson saw me as unworthy of River but maybe a glimpse at my muscles would help my case a bit. It was a long shot but worth a try.

I walked out of the bathroom after brushing my teeth to find River already dressed. She was right to have warned me about fighting men off her because damn did my wife look hot. She was wearing a short spaghetti strap dress that ended just under her ass exposing her long legs in six-inch brown clear heels. My favorite part of the dress was the amount of cleavage it showed and a design on the side that exposed more than half of her midriff.

Wow." I breathed unable to take my eyes off her.

"You like?" River asked twirling around for me.

"Baby I love the outfit, you look hot which is not a word I should be using to describe my wife but that is what you are." I answered walking towards her.

I am glad you like it because I am not so sure about it. I feel sexy but you know I am not one to dress this scandalously." She expressed looking at her reflection unsurely on the floor length mirror next to her dressing table.

I wrapped my arms around her and pulled her back to my chest splaying my hands on her bare stomach.

"You look beautiful baby and I will fight off whoever I have to." I assured her.

My words seemed to reassure her because she grinned and turned around in my arms to kiss me. I did not care if her red lipstick was smudge proof or not as I deepened the kiss wanting to feel her lips on mine.

"How about we just stay in?" She suggested palming the bulge I was spotting.

I pulled back and brought her hands to my lips.

"I would love that but I want Demi to like me more than she already does and if we cancel on her she will blame me. So how about we go out for a couple of hours to appease her then we will come back here and I will ravish you for the rest of the night." I suggested.

"Yes, to all that especially the ravishing part." River grinned picking up her purse.

"You're not bringing a jacket?" I asked her as we walked out of the room.

I knew LA was hot during the day but temperatures always dropped at night.

"I am. You are wearing it." River replied with a smirk.

"Yes Mrs. Kamau." I nodded understanding that at some point in the night River would wear my jacket and I would be cold which I was okay with.

We walked into the living room where Demi was waiting together with Mr. Anderson, Demi's dad, a couple of more guards whose faces were familiar but names I could not remember and one gentleman I was not familiar with.

"Took you long enough." Demi exclaimed when I walked into the living room first. "And now I completely understand why. You look fantastic. I knew that dress would look great on you." Demi cheered when she saw River.

Everyone's eyes widened when they saw what River was wearing. Her father was especially not thrilled just like Tiger had predicted. He got up and approached us looking ready to prowl through me to get to River but I held my protective stance on front of her even if I was scared shitless.

"Where do you think you are going dressed like that?" Mr. Anderson asked River.

"Out with my friends and my husband." River replied unfazed by the hard look on his face while I was already shaking in my boots.

I was ready to fight off any drunk bastards who messed with River but her father was a whole other story.

"Oh no you are not. I am already skeptical about letting you go out and definitely not dressed like that. You need to go back to your room and change if you want to leave this house tonight." Mr. Anderson demanded.

River did not even blink when I was ready to carry her back to her room and have her change in fear of her father's wrath.

"I am not a little girl anymore so you cannot tell me what I can and can't wear. I happen to like this dress so it is staying on." River retorted.

"That is not a dress, it is a piece of scrap. You are going to let her go out dressed like this?" Mr. Anderson asked me.

He had put me on the spot and it was the first time he was addressing me directly which was quite unfair. I did not want to get caught in between the father-daughter fight but it was inevitable. I also did not want to disagree with Mr. Anderson for fear of retribution, I wanted him to like me but not at the expense of making River angry. My wife always came first so even if it would cost me the non-existent son-in-law points, I knew that I had to take her side. So, with every morsel of strength I could muster and channeling River's bravery I squared my shoulders bracing myself to stand up for my wife.

"I learnt from the very beginning that when River makes up her mind on something it is nearly impossible to change her mind so it's usually better to support her than fight her. She knows what she is doing and if she loves the dress then I love it on her as well." I spoke up surprised that my voice did not shake.

"Then you are just as stupid as she is." Mr. Anderson scoffed looking at me with contempt.

I had just flushed any chance of me getting in his good graces down the toilet but at least River was proud of me as advertised by the smile on her face and the squeeze of her hand against mine.

"If we are done here then Demi, Evan, let's go." River declared as we all got to our feet.

The stranger I was unfamiliar with got up when River said that and I assumed that he was Evan. The man was extremely good looking standing at my height of 6'0, a lean built body, green eyes and dark hair. He had this intimidating aura around him and after Mr. Anderson he scared me the most but I would never admit to that.

So, he was River's betrothed? Well not anymore, she was all mine. I would be even more worried if I hadn't heard River say something to her dad about him being gay so I guess I had nothing to worry about there.

"Not yet." Mr. Anderson boomed stopping us all in our tracks.

"You all seem determined to defy me at every turn and I am tired of it. Since you all want to leave tonight, I will not stop you but not without wearing this." He demanded and with a wave of his hand a guard walked in carrying a box.

He set in on the coffee table in the middle of the room and stepped back.

"Ankle motors? Dad you can't be serious." River chuckled as she looked into the box.

Ankle monitors? Weren't those worn by criminals?

"Do I look like I am laughing? It's either you wear these or nobody is leaving here tonight," Mr. Anderson declared.

"Dad I am sure you can think of something more lowkey to keep tabs on us. Tap our phones, send Adrian and Mateo with us or better yet half your guards but don't tag us like criminals." River suggested.

"You are already behaving like criminals so we might as well cover all the spots. And don't forget that last time you did manage to get away from Mateo and Adrian. So, what is it going to be?" He asked looking smug.

I knew that River really wanted to go out and so did Demi but her father was taking things too far. I saw the two best friends look at each other looking lost before sighing in defeat giving in.

"Fine we will wear them but I will make you pay for this dad." River threatened.

Of course my darling wife couldn't give in without a fight.

"Great as long as you do it while I know where you are at all times. Ankles up." He demanded.

Begrudgingly we all got the ankle bracelets strapped on before we were allowed to leave the house.

"I cannot believe your dad or mine." Demi cried as she tried to pry off her ankle monitor but it was strapped on pretty tight and it only made an annoying beeping noise the more she messed with it so she huffed and stopped.

She was riding at the front of the SUV with Evan in the driver's seat while River and I sat cuddled behind in the back. We were driving to the club with a similar car with four guards in front of us and two more with even more guards tailing behind us. I thought that what I was currently experiencing only happened in movies and books yet there I was living it all.

"I am so sorry about this Deanie. It's not exactly the best start to the fun night I promised you." River apologized.

"It's okay waridi. I can barely feel it." I assured her.

"Speak for yourself. It feels like a brick has been shackled to me. It's ruining my whole look." Demi lamented.

"It was either this or stay in." River reminded her making Demi grumble her acceptance.

"So, you go by waridi now?" Evan asked pronouncing the name wrong but he tried.

His Russian accent wasn't thick but you could tell that it was there.

"Oh my God Evan. Hi! I almost forgot you were here. I am so sorry." River apologized as if she was only now noticing his presence.

"It's okay darling. Care to introduce me to your new man?" He asked.

"Of course. Dean this is Evan, one of my closest friends and my ex-fiancée if you will. Evan, this is my husband Dean." River said.

"It's nice to meet you Dean. Glad to see someone can actually stand this one long enough to marry her." Evan teased.

"Likewise, and there is nothing to stand here but there is a lot to love." I replied kissing River's temple as I pulled her closer.

"Awe aren't they gross together? I need to get laid if I am going to spend all night with you." Demi said faking a gag and we all laughed.

"I know this evening is off to a rough start but we can turn things around. Cheer up guys, we are going to have fun tonight." Evan declared.

"You are right Evan. My dad has already taken enough from us, I will not let him take anymore so let's go get shit faced drunk." River declared.

"I like the sound of that." Demi whooped supporting her friend.

The girl's getting drunk meant that I had to be the responsible one but I did not mind that. I never allowed myself to completely let go anyway ever since I met River. I always had to be on alert to look out for my girl especially when she was dressed like sex on legs.

"Oh, and Evan before I forget only Dean gets to call me waridi." River declared as we pulled up to the club.

"Yes ma'am." Evan grinned eyeing us through the rearview mirror.

"Perfect, let's go get drunk and dance the night away. We will not be this young forever." River cheered as I got out of the car and held my hand out for her to help her out.

She kissed my cheek as she wrapped her arm around mine as we followed Evan and Demi into the luxurious night club in the center of LA.

It was definitely going to be a night like no other, I thought to myself as we headed directly to the bar and ordered our first round of shots for the night.
