Chapter Thirty
DEAN'S POV
I was officially a married man with the ring, a wife, a certificate and photos to prove it and everything. I was married to a gorgeous princess, with a heart of gold, a killer smile and a body tempting enough to drive any sane man a crazy.
"You know what married couples do on their honeymoon?"I asked River as we lay cuddled together on a sun lounger by the beach.
"What?"
"They fuck like rabbits on heat."I replied earning myself a smack on the arm.
"What? It's true."I defended.
"Yes but your whole family is here. Seriously Dean is sex the only thing you can think of?" River asked.
"Yes!"I admitted unashamedly."Woman have you seen yourself? Even monks would be willing to give up their faith upon seeing you."I responded spanking her bare ass slightly.
The fact that the only thing River wore while we were at the coast were bikinis and sundresses wasn't doing me any favors. It was hard enough keeping my hands to myself without her looking like sex on a stick all the time.
I loved that River respected my parents but getting cockblocked by your own wife was definitely not fun. Her denial didn't even make sense seeing as we had our own room, the honeymoon suite at that and were alone most of the time. My parents were in their own bubble, having the honeymoon they never had which I was really happy about.
Demi and Dishan were glued to the hip, at least they were having sex, good for them.
Leah was in charge of Jasmine and Dwayne since she was nineteen getting them off our backs but I knew all of them were having fun. Felista hadn't been able to accompany us because of work but she did wish us the best. Everyone was doing their own thing but I still wasn't allowed to fuck my own wife.
"I'm sorry Deanie, we go back home in two days then I'm all yours."She consoled.
"It I had known my own family would be the reason I couldn't fuck my wife, I'd have sent them off to another vacation."I grumbled.
"Dean, I thought you understood. I don't want to fight you about this."River mumbled sounding sad.
I was not about to have my first fight with my wife about sex. I had waited four months, I could wait a little bit more.
"I do understand baby, it's just hard resisting you when you look so sexy."I explained nipping at her earlobe.
"I'm all yours for the rest of our lives. You'll have sex with me until you're tired."River replied.
"Impossible."I scoffed.
"Promise to be patient until we're inland again."She pleaded.
"I promise baby."I assured her.
I loved River enough to wait until she was completely ready no matter how much having blue balls hurt.
Looking on the bright side, I was married to the love of my life and had the rest of our lives together to explore our sex life. I was happy and that's all that mattered.
River and I must have dozed off because next thing I knew we were woken up by someone tickling our feet.
"Dean stop that."River mumbled sleepily trying to kick me away.
"It's not me."I replied feeling someone's fingers at the soles of my feet.
Unfortunately for them I was not ticklish but whatever they were trying to do was irritating as hell. I opened my eyes when River tried kicking them off again but failed.
Dishan and Demi were giggling to themselves like drunk fools as they messed with our feet.
"Unless you want me to kick your teeth out I suggest you stop that immediately."I demanded.
They stopped looking up at us like deers caught in headlights. Like seriously how did they think they could get away with it?
"You two need to get up, you're pooping on our party."Demi slurred dropping herself between River and I waking my beautiful bride up.
"In case you missed it, it's a free country and you two are fine on your own."I retorted.
"Yes we are."Dishan grinned drunkenly.
"Demi it's barely one pm, how are you drunk already?"River asked sitting up.
"Dishan and I tried palm wine. It was soooooo good."She said with a hiccup.
I looked at Dishan disapprovingly and he just grinned at me with a shrug as if he was innocent.
"You two need to go sleep it off."I demanded.
"No we're going to a party."Demi countered.
"What party?"
"I scored us tickets to a concert."Dishan replied showing off four tickets proudly.
I snatched them away from him and they were indeed concert tickets, a couple of Kenyan artists and bands would be performing at a beach resort close to the one we were staying at.
"Yeah but it starts at six which in Kenyan time is nine pm so why are you guys bothering us now." I asked.
"Oops, I thought it said two pm."Dishan hiccuped with a laugh.
"You wanna go?"I whispered to River.
"Yeah, it'll be fun."She nodded.
"We'll go with you but you need to go sleep the palm wine off your systems first."I demanded softly.
"But we wanna hang out with you."Demi slurred drunkenly.
"Demi you can barely hold your own head up, you won't be doing much hanging out."I replied.
"Dean is right bestie, go take a nap, I'll wake you in time to get ready for the concert."River encouraged.
"Okay."She nodded struggling to get up.
Eventually, she and Dishan managed to drag themselves away from the beach and into the hotel. Hopefully they would make it back to their rooms in one piece.
"Deanie."My beautiful wife whispered cuddled into my arms.
"Yes baby."
"I'm hungry."She said followed by a growl emanating from her stomach as if on cue.
"Time to feed you then. What do you want to eat?"I asked.
River gnawed on her lower lip mulling over her options before her eyes lit up once she made a decision.
"Barbecue."She announced sitting up.
"Okay, let's go. I think I saw a choma joint around here somewhere."
"Do we need to go change?"River asked standing up.
She was wearing nothing but a white two piece bikini and a sheer white shirt knotted under her boobs.
"Are you comfortable with what you're wearing?"I asked her.
"Yes."She nodded.
"Then let's go."I said picking up our phones from the sun lounger.
River's happiness was the most important thing to me and as long as she was happy then so was I. I was not about to start dictating what she should or shouldn't wear out in public. All that mattered to me is that she was comfortable. And besides the beach we were at was full of Caucasians in skimpy bikinis so why should River feel any different for deciding to wear what she loved.
I wrapped my arm around her shoulders and pulled her closer kissing her temple.
My wife.
Dean Kamau a married man, wow. Even the angels in heaven were impressed by that one.
The restaurant we found was fairly busy since it was lunch hour but we managed to find a free table after waiting a couple of minutes. I ordered a barbecue platter with a side of assorted dishes. One thing about my wife was that she had quite an appetite. The girl could eat and as along as I was alive, I would feed her to her hearts content.
"We are married."River commented as if it had now just hit her.
She was sipping on her soda absentmindedly looking at me, her blue eyes unblinking.
"Yes we are."I affirmed.
I lifted my left hand and let the light reflect off my wedding band.
"I'm still trying to wrap my head around that."River said taking my hand in hers as she her thumb over my ring.
I flipped my hand linking our fingers together.
"Yeah me too."I nodded.
"So what next?"River asked.
"What do you mean?"
"We are married now, what's next for us?"She expounded.
That was a broad question that I had no direct answer to. River was looking at me, her husband for answers but I didn't have any.
"I don't know, I've never been married before."I chided.
"Okay smartass."She chuckled sticking her tongue out at me.
I resisted the urge to lean over the table and kiss her. We were already earning a few curious looks from other people at the restaurant without engaging in PDA.
"I guess we take it one day at a time and hopefully build a life together off that."I said hoping my words were enough.
"Not much of a plan but it's all we got."River agreed.
"I love you." I confessed.
"I love you more husband." She replied gracing me with one of her enchanted smiles.
I was one lucky bastard to have bagged a wonderful woman like River and I would do my very best to keep her happy for the rest of our lives.
I brought her hand to my lips and kissed her rings settling for that innocent gesture until we were alone.
Our food arrived a short while later, before River started becoming grumpy and we dug in immediately.
"Lord am I happy I married a Kenyan man."River moaned as she tore through a tender piece of barbecued ribs.
"You married me for the food?"I asked with a laugh.
"I'll be lying if I say that food didn't play a huge role into my saying yes."River grinned.
I knew she was joking but I didn't fault her for it. Kenyan cuisine was exquisite.
"That's okay, I married you for your money anyway."I admitted with a shrug.
"Lucky for you, I have plenty of that. Looking at us making each other so happy." River replied.
"Indeed, cheers to us."I grinned lifting my glass of soda up.
She clinked her glass against mine toasting to us before we both erupt into laughter.
River was the perfect woman for me and I didn't care what anyone had to say about that. Not even my own self doubt about not being enough for her. Like I had vowed to her infront of God, our family and friends, I would spend the rest of my life trying to be worthy of her. River deserved the world and for as long as we were both alive, I would do my best to give it to her.
After lunch we took a stroll on the beach and ended up renting bikes to ride up and down the coast. It was a relaxed way of spending the afternoon as we waited for the right time to go to our suite to get ready for the concert.
"Well hello there Mrs Kamau, don't you look ravishing." I commented as I watched River strut from the bathroom.
She was wearing a two piece made of a tube floral top with a matching maxi skirt that swept the floor with a double full slit. I could see brown strapped flats peeking from under the skirt of her outfit. I was wearing dark jeans and white loose shirt with open toe maasai sandals since the concert was at the beach.
"Thank you, I was afraid it's a bit too much then I remembered we are at the coast and its a concert full of people."She replied.
"You look wonderful darling."I emphasized.
River walked into my arms standing in between my part legs as I sat on the bed. My hands immediately went to her exposed thighs massaging her tempting flesh.
Spending a lot of time tanning at the beach was giving River a golden glow as she lost her pale white complexion. She looked beautiful either way but I liked her current glow up.
"Ready to go?" I asked.
"Yes, I've been excited all day. Have you ever been to a concert?" River inquired.
"Yes and I lost my phone after getting too drunk. Dishan was there too, fun night."I recalled with a laugh.
"Do I need to leave my phone behind?"River asked looking worried.
"No baby, I was nineteen and immature. I'll take care of you and our belongings."I assured her.
River nodded her trust for me showing in the fact that she didn't doubt my words.
I straightened up and kissed her leading her out of our room a few minutes later ready to get our party on. We ran into Demi and Dishan exiting her room giggling like a bunch of highschoolers high on crack. They were keeping each other company but I feared for my friend once Demi flew back to the US, on the same day we were leaving the coast.
"Who is ready to parttyyy?"Dishan yelled in a singsong voice.
It was clear that he was sobber now but I knew that wouldn't last long. The man was one bottle away from being an alcoholic.
"I know I am."River replied.
"Me too.."Demi nodded pulling River in for a side hug as we got into the elevator.
"As long as we stick together and look out for each other we'll have fun. Girls no going to the bathroom unaccompanied or accepting drinks from strangers. River you already know the rules, make sure Demi abides by them as well."I asserted.
Demi was River's guest and by extension my guest as well meaning her safety was my responsibility.
"Yes husband."River nodded with a mock salute but I knew she took my words seriously.
I didn't want a repeat of what had happened the last time she had ignored my rules. There was only so many times I could go through such a harrowing experience without shackling River to my side.
"Domineering Dean, has a nice ring to it."Demi teased.
"Hey, that's husband you're eyeing. Back off."River demanded but I could see the playful glint in her eyes.
"Yes ma'am."Demi nodded pulling back to cozy against Dishan.
River wrapped her arms around my waist as if to further stake her claim on me. I didn't mind, I actually revelled in it so I wrapped my arm around her waist and pulled her closer to me.
The elevator doors slid open to let us out and we decided to have dinner first before going to the concert. Nothing was worse than drinking on an empty stomach.
My parents and siblings were already at the resort's restaurant eating so we joined them.
"Good evening family."I announced taking a seat next to my mom with River by my side.
"Good evening. You're all dressed up? Going somewhere?" My mom asked.
"A concert."I replied.
"Can I come?"Leah immediately chipped in.
"No."My mother and I replied simultaneously.
"Why not? I've been baby sitting all day."She whined.
"You know I wouldn't stop you from coming with us but they have a twenty one and above age limit."I replied showing her that clause on the tickets as proof.
"Argh, fine. Can at least go to the bonfire pool party mom?"Leah asked giving up the concert idea.
"Yes."My mom nodded knowing there was only so much rejection we could dish out to Leah.
I let River order us food since she wanted to acquaint herself with the coastal dishes. She ended up ordering us biriyani rice and beef stew which was good since we'd had a heavy lunch.
"If you guys make it back on time and don't have raging hangovers we are going snorkeling and swimming with the dolphins tomorrow so you can join us if you want."Jasmine informed us.
"Well be there." River replied.
We had been doing a lot of exploring of the local towns since there was a lot to do at the coast. There was a different adventure for each day and since our time at the coast was coming to an end I'm sure everyone was trying to pack in as much activity as possible.
"No promises from us."Dishan said looking at Demi who nodded in agreement.
My mom cast a concerned look at them and I knew she was worried about them just like I was. But they were both adults who knew what they were doing so I hoped they would manage to walk away from each other unscathed.
We kept dinner short since we had places to be and left before they ordered dessert. The resort where the concert was held wasn't that far so we walked. You could hear the music from half a kilometer away and vehicles leading up the drive to the resort. All the excited chatter from people going to the concert was promise of a good night ahead.
"You remember the rules?"I whispered in Rivers ear as we stood in line to show our tickets and get wristbands.
"Yes babe, I couldn't forget even if I wanted to. They keep me safe and you sane."River replied pulling my arm over her shoulder.
"Good girl."I praised kissing the top of her head.
The line was moving fairly fast and within minutes we were past the security check in with wrist bands on.
"Who is performing tonight?"Demi asked.
"You wouldn't know even if we told you but they are good artists, I promise."Dishan replied.
I looked at the list of headliners for the night and recognized some popular artists, Nadia Mukami, Arrowboy, Masauti, H_art the band, Mr Seed and Marioo. It was going to be a good night.
We went to one of the bars set up by the makeshift stage to get us drinks. River and Demi stuck to Tusker Cider while Dishan and I had Guiness. I wouldn't have more than two cans even if I could handle more. I needed to be alert because knowing Dishan he would be out of commission in an hour or less.
"I love her."River yelled as she danced to one of Nadia Mukami's song.
I was surprised to see that the artists were actually keeping time which was unheard of in the Kenyan music industry unless it was a foreign artist performing.
"She's great." I nodded.
The place we getting packed as more people arrived pushing River and I closer together which I didn't mind. I kept my eyes on our two friends the whole time and they were surprisingly enjoying the concert as well and not getting shit faced or making out in the middle of the dance floor.
When Mr Seed got on stage to perform one of hit songs, Only one I pulled River closer.
"I know you can't understand most of the lyrics but the words to this song are exactly what I'd wish for you to keep in your heart about our relationship for the rest of our lives"I whispered in River's ear as we swayed to the beat. I chose when the most popular part of the song started to sing it out loud for her.
Ua la waridi (la waridi)
Dawa ya baridi (Ya baridi)
Tuvumiliane mama
Tusiachane mama
Usiondoke hata ikibidi
We ndo tunda mi ndio seed
Mi nakupenda sana
Tusiachane maana
"I'll Google the lyrics later but I understand the basics. I love you too Deanie, you're stuck with me for life." River said leaning up on her tiptoes to kiss me.
I kissed her back, pulling her as close to me as I could as we danced together for the rest of the song.
River was the only one for me like Mr Seed sang and for as long as she would have me, that would never change.

Something's bugging me and you guys will probably give me the silent treatment again but I've got to ask.
Why is it that the books I write based abroad(The US) are more successful than the ones based in Kenya. Is Wattpad just racist or do the books I write based at home not that good?
I mean look at the statistics, I completed Savannah 2 months ago and its already at 80K+ reads while Queen Of The Plains that I completed more than a year ago just crossed the 10K+ mark that Savannah surpassed before it was complete.
Both of these books were written by the same person, me, so make it make sense.
