Chapter Forty Four

DEAN'S POV

Being back in Kenya without my waridi made the days blur together. My days were long and painful and the nights were lonely and sad. I did everything I could to get my mind off her but nothing worked. My mom had found out about my day drinking one week in when she came to check up on me at the house and found me drunk as a skunk passed out on the rooftop. I think either Jomo or Wangeci had ratted me out but they had saved my liver so I did not confront them. It's not like I had proof anyway. My mom had sobered me up and we had one long talk. She understood my pain so she did not force me to be better, just talked to me like the cool mom that she was.

After that she had made me go back to work and that is what I spent all my days doing. It felt good to get back to work, the different interactions with my customers were great and a bit therapeutic since I was not stuck in my head all the time. I felt guilty using the Land Rover but I did not have a choice. River had suggested that we get another car and I would do it but it felt wrong going car shopping without her considering I would be using her money. Technically it was my money now as well since we were married but every major decision I had made in my life since the beginning of the year had involved River but she wasn't with me anymore and I was lost.

That feeling is what led me take to the bottle at night to drown out my sorrows and it worked for a while until I had to wake up the next morning. Everything felt wrong without River and as the days progressed so did my pain because I had no idea if I would ever get to see her again. It had been more than a month since I arrived and there was zero communication between us. I tried calling her, leaving messages and even emailing her but they all came back unanswered. Even Demi who was always online had been inactive since the day I left. It's like they had cut off all contact with me and that made me really worried about them. I knew her father was keeping her locked away and that thought was disturbing. He was ruining both our futures by keeping us apart and I had no idea how much longer I could last without my wife.

"Okay miss this is your destination." I announced stopping the car in front of the huge high rise building in Westlands.

"Thank you. Do you take M-pesa, I'm low on cash?" She asked me.

"Yes." I nodded and gave her my phone number.

After she sent me the money and I confirmed to have received it she alighted the car and walked inside the building. She looked like she was dressed for a party but it was none of my business. I was done for the day so I pulled away ready to go home.

I recalled that I had run out of all the booze in my house so I passed by a liquor store to buy some more. I couldn't drink on an empty stomach so I picked up some pizza since I was not in the mood to cook. Wangeci helped me out a lot around the house but she worked till five and I would not get home till well past seven. I feel like they already had too much going on without taking care of a grown man so I tried my best not to bother them much.

I got an incoming call from Dishan and I smiled. Evening calls from Dishan only meant one thing, drinking and partying which is exactly what I was in the mood for.

"What's up Di?" I asked as soon as the call connected.

"Where are you?" He asked.

"On my way home. Should I turn back?" I asked him.

"No, I'm actually at your place." He replied.

"Huh? What are you doing there?" I inquired.

I had no issue with Dishan being at my place, it's just that most of our meetings took place at clubs in the city not in each other's homes.

"I brought you a surprise." He replied and I thought I heard a female laugh in the background.

"Di you better not have brought women into my home." I gritted out.

"Just get here. We will be waiting." He answered and hang up.

"Fuck!" I cussed out calling him back but he did not pick up.

We? Who was we? If Dishan had really brought a woman into my home, then I would chop off his balls. My home was sacred to me and my wife. I did not care if she was not there anymore. I was never replacing River so even if she never came back, then I would die alone in the home we bought together. Dishan had no right violating my home like that.

The traffic was a menace and I cussed Dishan in my head the whole forty-five minutes it took me to get home. As soon as I parked the car in the garage I jumped out with my liquor and half eaten pizza in hand. I was hungry and it was warm so I'd had a couple of slices in the car.

I used the connecting door between the kitchen and the garage to get in and could hear multiple voices before I even made it past the door. I heard Dishan's unmistakable drawl and another familiar female voice.

"Demi." I choked out surprised when I walked into my living room to find the two love birds making out of my sofa.

"Look whose home." Dishan grinned enjoying my shocked look.

"Hi Dean." Demi replied.

My gaze immediately wandered around my heart nearly beating out of my chest as I looked for the one person I missed with every fiber of my being.

"She's upstairs in your bedroom." Demi informed me understanding the yearning look in my eyes.

My gaze immediately darted to the staircase but I could not hear anything.

"What? How?" I choked out.

"You better go ask her. Oh, pizza! Gimmie." Demi demanded holding her hands out.

She did not wait for me to hand her the box and just straight out snatched it from my hands not that I cared. I gave the booze to Dishan and took to the stairs flying over them taking multiple at a time.

I stopped short of barging into our bedroom so as to compose myself. Once I was breathing slower and my heartrate was calmer, I opened the door with shaking hands and let myself in to reveal an empty room. My face fell when I thought that Dishan and Demi were toying with me until I saw the unfamiliar open suitcases on top of my bed that were not there when I left. I heard the shower running and I sighed in relief. I found myself automatically crossing the room as I made my way to the bathroom.

The sight of my naked wife behind the clear glass shower was enough to knock all the breath out of my lungs. I had to blink a couple of times to make sure that I was not dreaming and each time I opened my eyes she was right there confirming that she was real.

She turned and our eyes met. She smiled at me and all the anxiety wound up in my body over the past one month dissipated.

"Join me?" She invited sliding the shower glass door open.

I did not need her to ask me twice as I stripped and joined her under the warm shower stream in mere seconds.

"Hi." I murmured gazing at the beauty in front of me.

Even without lipstick her lips were still as rosy as ever resembling pink petals. My gaze wandered lower and I noticed that she had lost a considerable amount of weight just like I had but she was still gorgeous. Now that she was back, hopefully to stay, we would remedy that.

"Hi baby." She whispered back.

The three inches between us felt a mile long so I bridged the gap between us and pulled her flush against me wrapping my arms around her. Our naked bodies slammed together as we fit into each other like two puzzle pieces.

"I missed you wife." I confessed running my hands over her wet smooth skin.

"I missed you more husband." River replied.

She lifted her head away from my chest and leaned up on her tiptoes to kiss me. I grabbed her ass and hoisted her up so she could wrap her legs around my waist pushing her against the wall to bring us closer so I could kiss her properly. The moment our lips met, I devoured her bruising her mouth with a wanton kiss. I could not get enough of her as my tongue pushed into her mouth to find hers. My body trembled under her touch as she ran her hands all over me as if to get reacquainted. I did not want to be apart from her mouth but we both needed to breath.

"Fuck that was the longest month of my life." I sighed when we pulled apart.

Our breathing was ragged mingling together as our foreheads lay glued to each other.

"For me as well. I am sorry it took me so long to come back." River apologized.

I shook my head to assure her that it was okay. "It does not matter because you are here now. How are you here? Are you here to stay? How did you get away?" I asked firing question after question.

River grinned and silenced me with a kiss. I kissed her back unable to resist her even if I desperately needed answers. She moaned when I tightened my hold on her ass sinking my nails into the mounds of flesh. River reached in between us and gripped my dick that was hardening between us.

"Waridi wait." I mumbled pulling away.

"I have waited for a whole month." She replied tugging on my length.

I groaned and nearly came when she did it again kissing me deeply as she shoved her tongue into my mouth. I knew River and I needed to talk but apparently, she wanted to start with getting reacquainted first.

"Bedroom?" I murmured in between kisses.

"No, can't make it. Right here. Right now." She demanded.

"Yes ma'am." I grinned hoisting her higher.

I reached in between us and fisted my member, lining myself up with River's vagina.

"It's been a while. What if I hurt you?" I asked holding back.

"Dean don't make me beg. I need you inside me now."

"I like it when you beg." I teased rubbing my mushroomed head over her lips.

"Dean."

"Yes waridi."

"Fuck me. Please, papi."

"Yes ma'am." I replied and in one swift move I impaled my whole length into her.

River screamed, as her whole body unexpectedly shook with an orgasm.

"Did you just?" I asked looking at her amusement written all over my face.

"I did tell you it has been a while. Now fuck me." She demanded.

I didn't wait for her to ask me again as I held her firmly against the shower wall and started fucking her against it. Our skin slapped against each other each time we made contact, as River's moans filled the bathroom. My mouth found her breasts as I wrapped my lips around one of her nipples. River arched her back gripping onto my shoulders scratching me with her long nails. I welcomed the pain and increased my pace as I switched to her other breast.

I still felt like I was dreaming having River in my arms in the shower fucking her into oblivion but her scream as she came again let me know that I was awake and alive. Her orgasm had her walls squeezing tight against my cock urging me faster. I let myself go as I poured all my feelings into that moment letting River know how much I had missed her with my body.

My orgasm roared through me as I came with a groan emptying myself into her canal. My legs shook under me and but I held myself up before I dropped River, my precious gem. I slowly set her down on her feet making sure she was stable before I let her go. I kissed her and pulled her under the shower stream to clean her up. We took our time washing each other, River even let me shampoo her hair which led us to having sex again when she started moaning and rubbing herself all over me.

We emerged from the bathroom an hour later all pruny, dry and dressed up in bathrobes.

"Can we talk now?" I asked River as we lay in bed cuddling together.

"You want to know how I managed to get away from my dad?" River replied as she toyed with the sash of my bathrobe.

"Yes." I nodded.

I was grateful that she was back but I did not want to live in fear that her father would be coming for her at any time.

"First of all, I want you to know that I am here for good." River informed me answering my unvoiced question.

"Thank fuck for that." I cheered sighing in relief.

"Yeah, it's great." River nodded.

"Now tell me everything else." I requested.

River nodded and sat up facing me. It was a serious conversation so I sat up as well giving her my undivided attention. River took a dep breath and proceeded to narrate to me what had happened from the moment we hugged goodbye at the police station. As I listened to her, my body went through every emotion in existence but I did not stop her until she was done.

"I don't know whether to kiss and hug you for fighting for us or spank you for threatening to take your own life." I exclaimed once she was done.

"I pick all of the above but it got us results didn't it. I wouldn't have done it anyway." River replied with a shrug.

"Really because it looks like you were ready to call quits." I scolded.

"I couldn't bear the thought of living without you." River cried looking at me.

"I know but do you know what it would have done to me to realize that you ended your own life because of me." I asked her.

"I am not sorry for what I did. It got me here." River asserted defiantly.

"I know you are not. Come here." I invited opening my arms for her.

River crawled onto my lap and hugged me burying her face in my neck. I held her close knowing that I had been one bullet away from losing her.

"No more heroic threats against your life okay. I need you to live." I demanded.

"I promise." River assured me.

"Good then we are okay." I said with a smile.

River kissed me tugging at my overgrown hair to get access to my neck. I was yet to get a haircut so my hair was two months' worth of long and messy.

"We should get dressed and join our friends." I mumbled once River started untying the knot on my robe.

"They are grown adults and I am pretty sure they are doing the same thing we are." River mumbled.

"As long as they don't do it on our sofa." I argued.

"Dean."

"Yes baby."

"Shut up."

"Yes ma'am." I nodded.

River trailed her kisses from my neck, to my chest, onto my torso and finally finding my happy trail. I was completely naked so there was nothing stopping River from reaching her goal. She lowered her head onto my dick and took me into her mouth whole.

We did not leave the bed until half an hour later to get dressed.

"I am so glad you are here. Welcome home waridi." I said as I pulled River into my arms.

"Me too. Thank you, Deanie." River smiled as she leaned up to kiss me.

Her lips were swollen from our earlier endeavors so I did not deepen the kiss like I wanted to.

"I'm sorry there is no millions of cash this time." River said.

"That's it then. I can't do this. We must get divorced." I retorted sarcastically.

"I hate you." River chuckled slapping my chest.

"I don't care about the money River, I never have. All I wanted is you. You are all I will ever need. We can work for the money." I assured her.

"Perfect. I love you." River confessed.

"I love you too." I replied kissing her forehead.

River pulled away to gather our bathrobes and take them into the bathroom while I collected the suitcases that had been abandoned on the floor during our escapades.

"What's this?" I asked River holding up an envelope that had fallen out of her bag.

She turned to me looking puzzled. "I have no idea. My dad gave it to Alberto to give to me." She answered.

She held her hand out and I gave it to her. I watched as she opened the envelope to reveal the documents inside.

"Oh my God." She exclaimed as she read through the multiple papers in there.

"What is it? Is it something bad?" I asked alarmed because nothing that came from her father had ever been good.

"No no, it's actually really good. You remember when I apologized for not bringing any money this time." She replied looking up at me.

"Yeah?"

"That is not the case anymore. If I am reading this right, my dad just gave me the keys to a very hefty fortune my mom left behind plus some." She explained.

"How hefty are we talking about?" I questioned.

"Enough to feed a small country somewhere for a decade." I replied.

"Woah!" I exclaimed when she gave me the documents to look at the numbers. "Those are a lot of zeros and it's in dollars."

Trying to do the math and convert it to Kenyan money made my head hurt so I stopped myself before I popped a vein.

"I know! What was my dad thinking?" River asked.

"He wanted his baby girl taken care of that is. We obviously don't need the money but he thinks that you do." I consoled.

It really was a lot of money.

"I'll email him and say thank you. It's already in an off shore account thank God because Kenyan banks would lose their minds if we tried depositing such an amount." River declared putting the documents away.

"That was wise of your dad. I know you guys are estranged but he obviously cares for you in his own way. When you are ready don't be afraid to fix your relationship." I advised her.

"I won't. Can we go downstairs now? I'm hungry." River asked.

"Yes, let's go but I don't think there is any food down there. I brought a pizza but only a couple of slices were left. I am sure its all gone by now." I replied.

River looked at me disappointed pouting at me.

"But the fridge is fully stocked courtesy of Wangeci so I'll make you something to eat." I offered.

"That's why I love you." River grinned taking my head as we made it downstairs.

Our best friends were nowhere to be seen but I knew they were still around the house.

"What would you like to eat?" I asked River opening the fridge to show her its contents.

"Honestly anything as long as it doesn't take forever to cook." She replied.

"How about spaghetti and beef with vegetables." I suggested.

"Sounds good and fast enough." She nodded.

"Then take a seat milady and let me serve you." I said pulling a stool back for her on the kitchen island.

"Thank you, my good sir. I could get used to this." She said with a smile.

"We are in this for life." I grinned at her reaching into the fridge for all my ingredients.

I first made River a fruit bowl to hold her while I cooked. I made sure to make enough for all of us since I was hungry now too and I knew our friends would be as well.

They joined us just as I was opening up a bottle of wine to go with the food. At least I had remembered to buy that while shopping for my booze. Being with River had refined my taste for good things like wine and cheese which was not a totally bad trait to have.

"Something smells good, what's cooking?" Demi asked.

The two looked thoroughly fucked and they smelled of sex. They were also both wet and had green patches on their clothes.

"Did you two just christen my grass?" I asked.

They looked at each other and giggled like school children.

"No, you did not." River exclaimed noticing it as well.

"We did not want to ruin your sofa." Demi defended.

"There's like four more empty bedrooms in this house." River retorted.

"Too far, there was no time." Dishan said with a shrug.

"Unbelievable. Go clean up, we are about to eat." I requested them.

River and I burst out laughing as soon as they were out of earshot. Our best friends were crazy.

They joined us ten minutes later looking much better so we all sat at the informal dining table in the kitchen to eat together.

"This is really good Dean." Demi praised.

"Thank you." I replied.

"I love us like this. Together again and happy." River commented looking at me.

"I will toast to that." Dishan agreed raising his glass up.

"To love and friendship." He cheered.

"Love and friendship." We chorused clinking our glasses together.

I looked around the table and saw nothing but love. We had all fought for each other, to be together like we were in that moment and I was really happy that all the trouble we had been through had paid out. River was back in my arms, Dishan had his girl back and we never had to worry about Mr. Anderson again. Life was going to be good and I could not wait to live it surrounded by the love of my life, my friends and family.

"I love you." I whispered looking at River.

"I love you more." She grinned kissing me softly.

"I love you most." I countered earning a playful eyeroll from her.

For as long as I would live, I would never tire saying those words to her. She deserved to hear them and know that I meant them, she had fought for us and won.

My hero. My waridi.
