Welcome to the Pride Parade - Romaine

"Something so homosexual, it's homosexual."

Alright, @Edge_Lord4life . I won't disappoint.

Or maybe I will. We'll see how this goes. Everybody leave a vote if you're gay by the end if this chapter.

As the last raindrop of the early morning fell, a rainbow appeared across the sky in its full glory. Perfect timing on the rainbow's part, because today was the first day of Pride Month, and Roshan's hometown was having a pride parade to celebrate!

He'd gone to his first pride parade over five years ago, having been out as gay for about that long. His parents were not used to the concept when they first heard it floating around, but after their darling son confessed his attraction to boys, how could they be opposed?

Tremaine, on the other hand, didn't have that easy of a time finding himself. Well, for starters, he had nobody to talk to about it. His father was away in prison, and his mother didn't give a shit. He didn't know anything about sexuality, but he definitely knew some boys as a grade-schooler that got his heart fluttering. Now that he was older, or at least a teenager, he was contemplating whether his mother would notice if he snuck out for a couple hours.

     She didn't.

He stayed a distance away from the crowd, not planning on drawing too much attention to himself. But Roshan, who was a veteran by now, was essentially the traffic director of the event. He was flaunting a giant rainbow flag on his shoulders like a cape, and had dyed the roots of his hair rainbow so that whenever he ran his fingers through, the spectrum would be visible to the masses. He was also assisting with face paint, himself having a rainbow painted on either cheek.

"Hey, you're new, aren't you?" he asked with a smile, approaching someone who looked to be his age. "What's your name?"

"Uh...Tremaine," the new kid said, sinking deeper into the shadows of his hoodie.

"Hey, nice to meet you. I'm Roshan," he said. "Come join the crowd! There's no need to be afraid, we're all just like you!" He grinned widely, gesturing to the parade of rainbows and pinks and blues and whites.

Tremaine really wasn't accustomed to such a friendly character, but nevertheless he played along and ambled a little closer to Roshan. He pulled the  hood off of his head; the blazing sunlight hit his skin and he hissed. He was a vampire, after all.

"So tell me some more about you, Tremaine," Roshan said with a friendly grin, trying his best to be inclusive. "What brings you to our parade?"

Tremaine blushed. "I just wanted to learn more about...this whole thing. My family, y'know, they're not very-"

     "Accepting?"

All Tremaine could do was nod.

"Yeah, we've all been there before. How long have you known?"

He thought back to grade school. "For a while," he said. "Maybe five years?"

Roshan's smile somehow deepened. "Me too!" he cheered. "What do you think you identify as?"

     "I-I don't know, I l-like-" he stuttered. "I think I- I don't, well I saw a - I mean - boys," he finally decided on. Roshan's giggle made it worth it.

"I'm gay, too," Roshan nodded in understanding. "But you never can know for sure, right? We're just kids, we barely even know what love is, but it's always good to make these other options," - he looked at all the different colored flags - "available so that we know when the time comes."

Tremaine nodded, his eyes on Roshan. There was this odd feeling he got whenever he looked at this new friend of his, something that he hadn't felt since grade school.

He guessed that's why he found himself asking, "So like, do you have a boyfriend?"

"Me? No," Roshan shook his head. "I haven't found the right person yet."

"I could be the right person," he blurted in this sudden burst of confidence.

There was an astonished pause from Roshan. Then a corner of his lips turned up into a smirk. "We'll just have to see about that, won't we?" he asked, looking up at Tremaine with a little more than teasing in his expression.

And they did, indeed, see about that.

Once the parade gathered back in the parking lot and the crowds started to disperse, Roshan and Tremaine were still there.

They were behind the plaza so as to avoid the crowds, latched onto each other in a heated makeout session. Roshan had initiated it, cause everyone knows Tremaine would be too nervous to do so, however Tremaine wasn't complaining. He had pulled Roshan close to him, his arms tangled around his waist as Roshan's arms had wound around his neck.

And it was better than either of them could've ever imagined.
