Chapter 1 - The Creators

A/N: Apparently Wattpad is deciding to be a dick and won't send notifications to you guys when I post a message or update a story. I know just a few people get the notifications, but most people don't and that's kinda upsetting. Hopefully this will work this time.

Anyway, enjoy the first chapter!

Night fell upon the many biomes of Minecraftia, shining many bright stars accompanied by the glowing half moon down onto the surface. Other than the occasional moan of a zombie or screech of a bat, it was quiet and calm. Usually, the only people who would be outdoors at this hour were Warriors slaying hordes of mobs threatening to enter towns, or maybe some Griefers and Trolls using the cover of night to their advantage in messing with people of other territories, mainly the Creators. But tonight, a certain teenage Creator decided to take a risk and take a late walk around the dark oak forest with his best friend.

"You're such an idiot, Louis," said his best friend as she was dragged through the dimly lit forest. As she was led through the trees by the hand, she constantly looked around for mobs and people from enemy territories. Most of them wouldn't be that much of a problem; the Creators were currently on somewhat better terms with the Miners, who were also allied with the Farmers. Farmers weren't normally all too menacing, anyway. Griefers and Trolls rarely came to this particular forest since it was pretty far from their territories. The only ones to look out for were Warriors, who often came to the forests of Creator territory to kill mobs for fun and sometimes stupid Creators who thought it would be a good idea to roam around at night. They'd be pretty easy to spot, since they liked to dye their hair different shades of red, bright cherry red in particular.

"Hm? Why?" Louis asked, barely listening. He was too distracted by how pretty the forest looked under the night sky. He rarely left his house at night, and when he did, he remained within the city. Always bored with staying in the same place and seeing the same things day after day, going out like this was the best thing ever for him.

His friend rolled her eyes at his innocent ignorance and freed her hand from his, reluctantly continuing to walk beside him. "There's a reason no one ever walks around aimlessly in the damn forest at night! Do you wanna get us killed by those Warrior bastards? We didn't even bring a weapon! Why are we doing this anyway?!"

Louis chuckled at her hostility, which he frankly found cute. "Lighten up, Ingrid. We'll be fine! And you know about that huge cluster of really tall trees in the middle of the forest?"

"Duh, we can see them from the city, dumbass," she replied.

"Yeah, well I built something at the top of one of them," he told her with a smile. She raised an eyebrow, but he just kept smiling and walking. He seemed almost fearless here despite the dangers and the fact that they didn't have anything to defend them if something jumped out at them. His calm attitude balanced her aggressive one whenever they were together, which was pretty much 24/7. They'd been best friends since they were toddlers, and they probably wouldn't be able to function correctly without each other. Louis kept Ingrid from letting her anger boil over, and Ingrid kept Louis from getting hurt by his carelessness.

The duo finally reached the group of gigantic trees in the heart of the dark oak forest. Most of the trees literally almost reached the clouds, towering over everything easily. One of them was even taller than the mountain that the King's castle stood upon. Louis took Ingrid to one of the taller trees, stopping in front of a sign that read "Happy 18th Birthday, Ingrid!" He studied her dark face, looking for any reaction as he took her through the door and into the hollowed out trunk, almost running up the spiraling wooden staircase to the top.

At the top of the enormous tree was an amazing treehouse as big as a house with a balcony around the perimeter, overlooking Minecraftia. Louis grinned even wider than he had been when he caught Ingrid actually cracking a smile while staring at everything in awe. "Louis, did you make this by yourself?!"

He nodded happily. "Yup! Took me almost a year, though. But hey, it was worth it! We can totally hang out here whenever we want, and no one else can come here without our permission. I installed a trapdoor that intruders will fall into if they try to enter without a key." He pulled her into a hug, and to his surprise, she hugged back. "Happy birthday, Ingrid!"

"Thanks, dumbass."

For the rest of the night, the two sat on the balcony on the side facing the Creator and Warrior territories, talking about whatever crossed their minds. They saw a couple of Warriors in the forest by the big trees, and were relieved to know they were safe in the treehouse and weren't caught down there with them. What was strange was the Warriors' hair. Neither had bright red hair like normal Warriors. Instead, their hair was dyed burgundy. Other than that, they definitely looked like normal Warriors with their big shiny weapons and armor and green streaks painted onto their faces. They seemed pretty young, though.

"Why do you think the Warriors have walls around their territory?" Louis asked, looking out at the obsidian walls surrounding Warrior territory. "It's not like anyone's gonna dare to invade them or anything, not even Griefers."

"Because they're assholes, and the King is a cowardly loser. He thinks he can just hide behind some walls on a mountain with the strongest Minecrafters protecting him," said Ingrid, her lips curling into a disgusted scowl. "I almost feel sorry for the Warriors. They're taught to be loyal to the King and only the King. They serve and protect him and they put his life before their own. But then I remember that they're the same bastards who enjoy killing other people for fun, and I lose any ounce of sympathy I managed to gain for them."

"It's not their fault. That's how they're raised," Louis pointed out.

Ingrid shook her head, almost laughing at how naive her friend was. Sometimes she was annoyed by how nice he was, even to the people who deserved to be hated. "Ok, well you've got to at least find the way they name their kids stupid. They're all named after ancient people and gods and shit. Who the hell names their kid Neptune or Cleopatra? Same thing for the Griefers and Trolls. I met this Griefer named Pyro who was trying to burn down our school. Miners aren't too bad, since their names actually sound at least somewhat normal."

Louis laughed, saying, "What about our last names? And the Farmers' last names? You and I are Stone and Castle. Pretty unoriginal, don't you think?"

"Last names are different. We don't have much choice in what our last names are," Ingrid said, rolling her eyes. "First names are--holy shit, what the hell is that?!" They looked over to their city within Creator territory where a huge, smoky cloud was rising from a booming explosion. Even more explosions followed, some even in other territories.

"Those are way too big to be Griefer explosions," Louis muttered under his breath, eyes wide as he watched the destruction. Cannons and arrows began to fly from Creator territory and towards Warrior territory. By then, Ingrid was already starting to pull Louis into the treehouse and down the spiral staircase. "Ingrid?!"

"We can't just fucking sit and do nothing! We need to find our families!" she yelled over the now constant sounds of explosions from every direction. For now, the forest was left untouched, so they needed to get out before it was too late. They slid to a stop when the two Warriors from earlier crossed their path. "Shit..."

"What are two Creators doing out here this late? You should be over there getting blown to pieces," said the female Warrior with a smirk, pointing towards the burning city. She didn't look as scary as Warriors usually did, but the boy with her did. He was tall, masculine, and expressionless, with cold eyes that didn't seem to blink, he stood with his sword drawn, seeming to be protecting the girl. Neither of them looked older than 15 years old.

The girl took a step backwards and pat the boy on the back. "Alright, Romulus, you can kill them now." He didn't budge. "Romulus!"

"Athena...we're not out here to kill random Creators. Your father doesn't want you doing that anymore, anyway," said Romulus. His voice was pretty low for someone his age and not to mention extremely intimidating.

"I don't care! What's he gonna do, double ground me?" She turned away from Louis and Ingrid to look up at Romulus, who never took his eyes off of the two Creators in front of him. "And don't try telling me 'You should always obey King's Knights,' because I won't be listening!" She mimicked his low voice and crossed her arms, pouting like a child would.

After Athena was done whining, Romulus opened his mouth to speak before she said anything else. "Athena, I believe we're out of time. We need to get back to our territory now."

She looked towards Warrior territory, where a single red firework was fading. "Shit, you're right. Let's get outta here, then." She began running back to their territory, with Romulus following close behind, slashing at any mobs that came near them.

"What do you think they were talking about?" Louis asked Ingrid as he watched the two Warriors disappear.

"Why the hell would I have any idea? Let's just leave before something else happens." They continued on their way home, dodging zombies, creepers, and skeletons, plus the occasional falling debris from the ensuing destruction. They froze when they saw something cross the sky and land behind them. A loud boom and a blast immediately sent them flying.
