11 ~ The reign of the new queen

All around the council hall was chaos as the Angels who had come from the hospital wing poured in, spilling in through the doors, crowding against the walls. The grand councilor of the Capital and his fellow councilors were seated on their respective seats. The commanders of the five Angels were also seated in a particular part of the hall.

The hall became pin drop silent when the two huge doors of the hall opened, everyone stood from their seats and the high Priest of Angelic walked into the hall through the opened door, followed by Ever Angel. She was dressed in a long red dress with golden design on its fabric. Her grey inked long hair was knotted into a fashionable bun. Her eyes were sharpened with the bluish black eye liner applied to beauty her eyes, her lips were painted with fiery red lipstick.

No one dared to speak a word and break the silence. Everyone was staring at the beautiful Ever who will now be the queen of Angelic. The priest went on to the dais. Ever stopped by her sister. Elizabeth's eyes were watering; she hugged Ever and whispered into her ears. "I'm so proud of you sister. I wish mum was here."

Ever loosed the hug, kissed Eli's cheek and walked toward the dais. At the steps of the dais was Julian Roosevelt. He was dressed like a prince. Ever smiled, noticing how handsome he was. He must have borrowed those clothes from Cedric because Julian wasn't a type of person who gets dressed into fashionable, body tight, colorful clothes.

He raised his right hand, his left hand placed on his back. Ever placed her hand on his hand. Julian kissed her hand and walked Ever toward the dais.

"You are beautiful," he whispered.

She smiled lightly. "Thank you."

Ever sat on the dais and Julian walked down from the dais. Everyone sat on their respective seats.

The priest was standing next to Ever; behind the priest were two servants, one holding a golden tray with a crown on it and the other holding a silver tray with a glass of water on it.

The priest gathered both his hands and placed them on his chest. Blue glitter sparkled from his chest as he begun to murmur in the language of Angelic priests. The beating of Ever's heart fastened. The priest gestured the servants to come forward.

"My lady, Ever Angel." He spoke loudly.

"I, Jemaah, the high priest of Angelic declare Ever Angel as the second executive Queen of Angelic."

He took the crown from the golden tray and murmured a pray. The crown was decorated with sapphires of Water Land, diamonds of Air Land, emeralds of Earth Land, ruby of Fire Land and gold of the Capital. The priest placed the crown upon Ever's head. Ever controlled her unstoppable heartbeat and sighed deeply.

"Queen Ever, may your reign enrich Angelic with prosperity, love and peace."

The priest offered Ever the glass of Water. The water was from the river Darranoi, it is blessed by the high priest and the five Angels. She emptied the glass and placed it on the tray of the servant.

"Your highness, address the gathering."

Ever took another deep sigh and spoke. "I take this as a huge privilege to be enthroned as the Queen of Angelic. I know this is unexpected but I hope my enthronement will support to overcome the treat of Roop and the blood drinkers. I will enrich Angelic with prosperity, love and peace."

Everyone stood up from their seated and chanted. "Long live the Queen!"

Ever interrupted the audience. "I would like to give the chance to councilor, Cedric Roosevelt to address the gathering."

Cedric stepped into the center of the hall and bowed Ever.

"Your highness, it's a huge privilege to speak in your first council meeting," he paused and sighed. "Yesterday at the royal wedding of Elizabeth Angel and Alexander Angelo Earth we underwent an attack from a strange sector of creatures called blood drinkers. All five Angels are now struggling with their lives. The royal physicians has not yet found a way to cure the Angels but Amota, the future teller claimed that she could save the Angels if she get the nectar of the flowers of the tree of life in Azera." He finished.

"The most important fact is blood drinkers are immortal. According to Amota they can only be killed by using silver," the grand councilor said.

"We have to kill all blood drinkers to avoid the treat, they can bite commoners and inject their venom into them so the commoners will also be transformed into blood drinkers," Cedric said, his voice sounding weak.

"I assign all Angels and the five Angel armies into different tasks," Ever said, strengthening her voice.

Eli was watching her sister, proudly. She looks exactly like mother, Eli thought. Everyone in the hall predicted Ever will be greater and stronger than the former Queen.

"Roop is a Goddess. She can't be destroyed but there is one way. There's a structure of a sword at the Derath waterfall. The structure must be filled with the blood of an Angel, the blood of a mermaid, the venom of a blood drinker and blood of a shape shifter and the blood of a commoner. The sword is called the sword of Life, it will destroy Roop," Ever explained.

"Peter Angelo Water and Michael Angelo Water come in front," Ever ordered.

Michael and Peter came in front and stood behind Cedric.

"I need you both to go deep into the Angelic Sea. You must bring the first mermaid you see to the Capital, alive."

"We will, your highness." They bowed together.

"Julian Roosevelt," Ever called Julian. He came and stood next to Cedric.

"Cedric Roosevelt and Julian Roosevelt must find the structure of the sword at the Derath."

"We will, your highness." They too bowed Ever.

"Alexander Angelo Earth, Albia Angel Air, Joseph Angelo Water and Parisa Angel Fire."

As Ever read the names, they came in front of the council and stood in order.

"I need you to kill all blood drinkers in all five lands. Begin from the Capital, then move from land to land. Kill all of them. "

"Are we going to kill the blood drinkers in the Capital's prison?" Albia asked

Ever stared at Albia, finding an answer to her question. Cedric's and Julian's eyes were fixed on Ever's, curious about her decision.

"No, we are going keep them till the end," Ever replied, her gaze fixed on Albia.

"Why?" Albia yelled. "They shot my mother and your mother; our mothers will die because of them. Why are you protecting them?" she laughed, scornfully. "Are you protecting them because they are your servants? Isn't it the reason?"

"My lady Albia, do talk with respect. Ever Angel is now the Queen of Angelic," Julian said loudly.

Albia became silent.

Ever took a deep sigh and spoke with power in her voice. "I am the Queen of Angelic. I make orders, you follow them. Got it, Albia?"

"Yes, your highness," Albia said, her gaze fixed at the ground.

"Elizabeth, I render you the power to control the Capital's army."

"I will do my best, your highness." Eli bowed Ever.

"Basilia Angel Air, I assign you to bring a shape shifter into the Capital. Make sure you bring the shape shifter alive."

Basilia bowed together to Ever, she caught Richard's gaze on her, she gave him a smile..

"And Richard we need you Destiny ship to sail us to our destination."

"It's a great privilege, your highness." He bowed Ever removing her gaze from Basilia.

"I will be going to Azera with Cael Angelo Fire to bring the flowers of the life tree."

Everyone's faces turned red but the faces had pride in them, their Queen will be leading the battle against their survival. Julian gasped.

"It's a great privilege to be by your side in the battle, your highness." Cael too bowed the Queen.

"We'll heading to our destinations by tomorrow morning. We have to complete our tasks before the next full moon. We've got a week. I hope we'll be successful. If we miss this full moon, we'll have to wait for the next full moon to create the sword of Life." Ever rose from the dais. "The council is done, do get prepared for tomorrow."

The perfume of the roses took him back in time to a transitory evocation of summer's time. Alexander saw Cedric seated on the bench in the rose yard, reading a book. Alexander plucked a rose and walked toward Cedric. He smelled the rose and his heart exploded with its amazing scent.

Cedric didn't notice Alexander till he spoke. "Cedric."

Cedric stood and bowed. "My lord!"

Alexander smiled and sat on the bench.

"Who grew these roses?" He asked.

"I did, my lord." Cedric's head bent toward the ground, having no eye contact with Alexander.

"Can you make me a flower crown?"

Cedric raised his head and looked at Alexander; Cedric wore an amazed expression on his face.

"Will you?" Alexander asked, raising his eyebrows.

"I will, my lord."

Alexander stood up and took a step closer to Cedric. Cedric's heart began to pump extra blood, he swallowed his breathe and fixed his gaze on the floor, avoiding Alexander's earthly like eyes.

"I need it by tomorrow, before I leave the Capital."

"I will make it, my lord."

Alexander placed his hand on Cedric's shoulder. "I've told you that you don't have to call me 'my lord', you can call me Alexander." He smiled and walked out of the flower yard.

Cedric took a deep breathe, not being able believe what just happened. Alexander was a rude, arrogant, a proud Angel according to Cedric's point of view but now Cedric felt what he thought about Alexander was wrong.

On the other hand, Alexander was walking out of the flower yard, not being able to believe what he just said to Cedric. He had no idea why he asked Cedric to call him Alexander.

"Marie, do you remember me?" Ever asked from Marie Roosevelt who's now a blood drinker.

She bared her teeth crouching sounds of anger and fear. There were five blood drinkers prisoned in the Capital along with Marie.

"She doesn't have her memory," Erana said from the corner of the prison.

"Why?" Ever asked, trying to find Erana in the dark cell.

"It's a side effect of the venom."

"Do you have your memory?"

"Yes."

"How?"

"I'm stronger than her."

"If you have your memory, why did you attack us?"

Erana came out of the darkness. Ever could see the blood drinker Erana, pale, tall and elegant. "She controls us. If we don't do what she wants us to do, she'll destroy us."

"Have you seen her?"

Erana shook her head. "No one has." She came closer to the cell bars and then Ever noticed a bump on Erana's stomach. "Paulo has seen her," she whispered.

"Who's Paulo?"

Erana turned her gaze toward the left corner of the cell where a man was seated on the floor, his head in between his propped knees, pretending as if he's sleeping.

"She's in Azera," Erana whispered.

"I know."

Paulo raised his head and looked at Erana and Ever. Ever noticed that he looks so much like her. He too had grey inked hair like her but it was hard to recognize the color of his eyes.

"My lady, Commander Chertoff Antoinette is here to meet you," a soldier said from the other side of the prison.

"I'll come." Ever turned to go but she turned toward Erana. "Are you bearing child?"

Erana slowly nodded.

"I promise, I'll find a way to undo everything," Ever said. Erana and Ever gave a weak smile for each other because both of them know that they can never undo what has happened. With a one last glimpse at Paulo Ever walked out of the prison.

Outside the prison the Water army commander, Chertoff Antoinette was waiting for Ever.

"My lady!" He bowed Ever. "I have something important to tell you."

"What is it Chertoff?"

"My wife is bearing a child."

Ever gave a pale smile. "I know that."

"She's bearing the child of Michael Angelo Water."

The living room was dimly lit with the vintage sconces that hung on the mute colored walls like earrings. Thick velvet curtains hid the long windows across the walls. Parisa sided the thick velvet curtain and watched the Darranoi River flowing across the Capital. She was in The Roosevelt Mansion, the mansion where the Roosevelts live. It was situated in between the Palace and the Darranoi. The Roosevelt mansion is an actual paradise to Parisa, it was huge and luxurious and comfortable.

Julian walked into the living room and saw Parisa staring at the Darranoi. He walked closer to her.

"My lady," Julian spoke.

Parisa moved her gaze from the Darrnoi to Julian Roosevelt.

"Do you love the view?" Julian asked, crossing his arms cross his chest.

"Of course. It must be amazing to live next to the Darranoi."

"If you come on another day I can take you on a boat ride in the Darranoi."

Parisa smiled and looked at Julian. She has been waiting for years to meet this handsome guy. He was the reason why she came to the Capital but she never got the chance to speak to him. Even though Elizabeth promised her that she would make Parisa meet Julian she was too busy with her own life. Parisa was a huge fan of his works. She fell in love with him since the first Julian Roosevelt novel she read.

"My lady," Julian broke the silence.

"I came to talk to you." Parisa noticed the brown leather bag which was slung over Julian's shoulders. "Are you going somewhere?"

"Yes, my lady."

"Where?"

Julian sighed and looked into Parisa's fire red eyes. Those eyes made him remember Cael, the man who stole the heart of his lover.

"Julian, are you going somewhere?" Parisa asked again.

"Yes, my lady."

"Where?"

"I think I need to go now, my lady." He walked past Parisa and placed his hand on the door handle to open the door but Parisa interrupted him.

"Julian, where on Angelic are you going to?"

"That's none of your concerns, my lady."

Parisa chuckled lightly. "Are you going to Azera?"

Julian looked at Parisa with suspicion and there was a hidden anger in his gaze.

"Julian, if you are going to go to Azera," she paused and walked closer to him. "Please don't go." Parisa placed her hand on Julian's hand which was placed on the door handle.

"Please don't tell anyone," Julian begged.

"Julian, it's not safe to go to Azera."

"Parisa, you don't understand." Julian took his hand from the door handle. "I can't let Ever go to Azera when Roop is also there."

"But my brother is going with her, he'll protect her."

Julian smirked. "Ever has never been out of the Capital without me."

"But it will put your life in danger."

"I'll do anything to protect, my Ever."

For a moment Parisa was silent, she was staring at Julian in disbelief. My Ever, she called her My Ever. Those words echoed inside Parisa's head.

"Parisa." Julian placed his hands on Parisa's shoulders. "Please don't tell anyone."

"Julian, do you love Ever?"

Julian took his hands from Parisa's shoulders. He looked at her, stunned as if the greatest secret of his life was no more a secret.

Julian's silence answered her question. "You do love her, don't you?"

Julian opened the door; Parisa gripped his arm and stopped him. "Julian, she doesn't love you. Even if she does she can't marry you. Don't waste yourself on someone who will never be yours."

"She's my Ever, she'll always be my Ever. I have to protect her."

Julian walked out of the house. Parisa watched Julian walking into danger, away from her. Parisa felt the bottom of her heart aching. She felt as if there was a poisonous snake inside her heart, poisoning her soul. She wanted to cry, she wanted to scream. She wanted to garb a knife and separate her bloody heart from herself. She wanted to tell Julian that she loves him. She wanted to tell him that she can love him more than Ever Angel would. She fell on her knees, she expected burning tears to fall down but for her surprise the tears decided not to flood.
