07 - Ryki the Fighter

Ord Mantell town was just like what you'd expect in the lower levels of Coruscant, except much mild. Still, it pretty much represented the rowdy and scum-filled citizens that dwelled in the famous lower levels. Ryki Taala remembered Coruscant as her only home, mostly because she was forced to live there under the thumb of a low-life sleemo named Mor Vendi. An Umbaran slaver that kept Ryki for her talents in deducing and manipulating his customers to his bidding.

On Coruscant, Ryki's worked with many life forms. Most of them were sleemos and scugs of the galaxy. Mor Vendi has entertained the likes of corrupt senators like Orn Fre Ta, the senator of the banking clan, and the big shots like Wat Tambor and the Umbaran senator himself. Ryki would admit, that she knew quite a lot of Vendi's customers, and customers she would mean enemies. Mor Vendi would use her Force abilities to predict certain possible futures if his customers choose a certain path in life, that they may change it or even avoid it.

Otherwise, Ryki would be lent for hire to Vendi's customers to manipulate those under them or their enemies. She'd put her life on the line and make those dirty deals while the higher-ups get to keep their slates clean. Ryki Taala though is a smart woman. Most of the time, she'd change the story from a certain point of view, not explain the entire scenario or just plain pretend to manipulate without the Force. Since most of the dark deeds she's carried out were for villainous purposes, she'd use her powers against Vendi's customers and compromise their goals inside out.

"Just use fancy words and a fancy voice and a fancy act and they're sold."

Her mantra never failed her because after one daring-do test run on the Umbaran senator, she managed to compromise a whole black market scheme that he wanted to run under the Republic's nose. The senator, was furious when his plan failed. Mor Vendi got the complaint which was as expected and brought the blame to Ryki.

"The Force works in mysterious ways. It can predict possible futures and certain things at a point in time. Its accuracy though is uncertain." She'd say in faked humbleness, or "I'm just a conduit in the Force. I seek to understand what can be understood. In other words, I'm just a messenger."

Ryki carried out this scheme for quite a while and not being caught by Vendi made it a lot easier. The people she worked for were as greedy as a sarlacc on a hot Tatooine day. The downside was that Vendi's customers began to decrease since their wishes and dreams would not come through and Ryki was punished. Vendi wanted his credits so he took out his frustration on Ryki for months. She was starved, electrocuted, whipped and left to bleed from her wounds.

She tried to escape multiple times. Ryki told herself that if she were to die, it wouldn't be in a low-lifes hobble. So, she pulled multiple escape attempts and fled the underworld, trying to evade bounty hunters and Mor Vendi himself. Now, Ryki found herself in the company of some rogue clones. All wanting to flee the evil of the galaxy and just live their lives in peace. It was easy right?

---

Ryki grunted as she finally lifted a heavy bag onto her shoulders. After the run-in with a bounty hunter and the empire on Bracca, she advised the Bad Batch to lay low and act like civilians for a while.

"They are clones, what did I even expect" She grumbled. On their first week back from Bracca, Tech managed to tick of a local mechanic. They got into an argument and Tech couldn't keep his engineering expertise to himself, resulting in a skirmish with the local. Wrecker picked up a bad habit of 'put it on Cid's tab'.

"Oh, sure just ask four clone commandos to sit still and behave like normal people" Ryki slapped her face. "I'm sure they won't be so 'commando-ish'" The mirialan repeated Cid's words in a high pitched voice.

Echo and Hunter were being a little tad overprotective of Omega. She did not blame them after the whole debacle with Cad Bane and all, but the poor kid wanted some time off to just be a kid. This resulted in the crew spending most of their time in the Marauder and a whole lot of mess. Omega was a neat girl, probably because of Nala Se's tutoring but the boys... whoa the boys...

Snapping back from her complaints, Ryki paid the meiloorun vendor and began to track back to the Marauder's landing platform. She kept her head covered in a scarf that Hunter had given her to hide from the heating sun and also hide her identity from possible Imperial spies. The scums however decided to keep her company.

"Hey, doll. What's a fine woman like you pulling hard weight in Ord Mantell?" Ryki opted to ignore the stereotypical man but he decided to grab her elbow and forcefully turn her. Ryki gave him a displeased look. "Now, why the frown. You'd look better with a smile doll." He tried to grab her chin but Ryki shoved him off her, "Hands off sleemo." The man chuckled and gave her a flirtatious smile, which made Ryki gag in return. Putting distance between them she quickened her pace to the landing platform.

She turned a corner to rest her shoulders a little. When she peeked over, she realised the man following her. Sighing tiredly, she decided to comm the boys, "Hunter come in? Hunter?" The comm fizzled a while but no one replied. Grumbling, she tried to contact the rest of the crew but none of them answered. "I swear if they're playing Sabacc again..."

She spotted the man closing in on her. The landing platform was just three turns away so she decided to wing it. Securing the bag over her shoulder, the mirialan speed-walked back to safety.

---

"Your turn Hunter." Tech leaned over the table with a proper poker face. Hunter stared intently at his cards before passing a look to Echo and Wrecker, "I'll go all in." Echo narrowed his eyes "High stakes game. I'm in too."  Wrecker and Tech came to their final agreement as well. The boys eyed each other one last time before revealing their cards. "BOOM! Idiots array!" Wrecker cheered. Echo groaned and fell back into his seat, "That's unfair!"

"So you have said, repeatedly." Tech shrugged.

"Hmm, I don't get what the fuss is about. Your just trading your blasters." Four heads turned to the youngest Bad Batcher. "Well, she's not wrong. We're technically just exchanging blasters because we're too stubborn to switch among ourselves." Tech pointed out. Hunter shook his head, "Also, we don't really have money to gamble with."

The boys nodded. "No. It's because you're broke!"

"Ryki!" Omega jumped off her seat to hug the mirialan's leg. Ryki patted her blonde hair then turned to the boys. "And you definitely have almost zero ideas about your mercenary work." Hunter, Echo, Tech and Wrecker watched as Ryki dumped the bags of goods on a crate.

"Also, what is the purpose of a comm device if none of you can pick it up?" She huffed. "You called? When?" Echo asked. Ryki tilted her head in disbelief. Her eyes then finally landed on the sabacc board. She clicked her tongue disappointedly, "Hmm. Maybe about, I don't know, 10 minutes ago? But no... none of you could answer because you're too tied in sabacc and you're dealing... blasters?"

"We have no money.." Wrecker replied sheepishly. The brunet simple shook her head. "Did you run into a problem at the market?" Hunter asked, standing up from his seat. Ryki simply shrugged her shoulders "Something like that." Hunter looked back to his brother's, confused, "So is that yes you ran into trouble, or yes you ran into a small problem or no you didn't run into a problem?"

Ryki raised an eyebrow, "Yes and no." Tech adjusted his goggles, "I believe this is an emotion called sarcasm."

Ryki was about to give another witty reply when the same slimy voice came back to haunt her life, "You left me for these guys doll?" The man walked into the platform, taking a good look around. His eyes landed on Omega and he offered her a smirk. Ryki immediately pulled the little girl behind her and the boys tensed up at her reaction. "Can you get out?"

The man coyly smiled, "Don't be so harsh lady. Why don't I take you out for a drink? What'ya say, love?"

"No thank you." Ryki turned her back and ushered Omega to the safety of the Batchers. "This is the trouble I was talking about." She narrowed her eyes angrily at Hunter and his brothers. The man however was relentless so he grabbed Ryki's hand and pulled her to himself, "Don't be shy love. I'll show you a good time."

Wrecker marched up and pushed the man of Ryki, "You stay away from her, pal."

The man smirked up at Wrecker, "Let the lady decide, shall we."

"I think it's clear she doesn't want your company." Hunter pushed the two males aside. "So I suggest you walk away for your own good."

The man looked Hunter up and down and shoved past him, taking place in front of Ryki again. "As I said, the lady will decide." Ryki's green sin colour darkened with growing frustration when the man thought he could seize her chin and thumb at her lips. "Omega darling, please cover your ears and eyes."

In a swift movement, Ryki seized the man's hand and yanked his fingers backwards. Then she fisted a hand and punched him in the sternum. The man gagged and clutched at his chest but Ryki was not done with him. As the man staggered backwards, then moved one leg under his and pulled it outwards, toppling him over. Ryki finally stopped and watched the man wriggle in the dirt. Wrecker roared with prideful laughter "HA HA HA, the lady says no!"

A smirk flew to the mirialan's lips. The man's face turned red with anger. "You kriffing female!" Omega gasped. Hunter, Tech, Echo and Wrecker worriedly glanced at each other, sharing the same thought as Ryki. Omega was too innocent to hear foul words. The man charged at Ryki, putting the boys on edge but they were all caught with surprise as their shorter counterpart grabbed the man's arm and twisted it behind his back, then pushed his knees so he crumbled to the floor and delivered a final blow between his legs.

The man groaned, holding his nether regions and whining in pain. Ryki watched pridefully, "Get lost sleemo" The man nodded quickly and limped out of the landing platform. Ryki sighed happily, "Well, that's a good way to start a morning." She cracked her knuckles and turned to face four stunned and possible scarred men. "Come on Omega, let's relax in the Marauder."

Omega excitedly ran into the Marauder with Ryki trailing slowly behind her. "Oh and boys, do clean up the mess out here." The four commandos nodded quickly. Ryki gave them a sweet smile and retreated to join Omega.

"Wow" Echo gulped. Wrecker punched a fist to the air, "Yeah. She's a fighter."

"Let's never get to her ugly side."

Hunter quickly agreed with Tech. "Yep. Let's never."

OOKAYYYY...so this is just a filler cause I really think they were running from the empire for a few months, and they were working with Cid and all so there's definitely some time skip between their encounter with Bane and their mission to Raxus and Ryloth. There's gonna be some fillers for a while, hang in tight with me guys!!! We'll get back to the good stuff soon!!!!!
