06 - Omega problem
The ion cannon exploded into perfect halves sending the Bad Batch tumbling down to the ground. Ringing slowly died down in the mirialan's ears, her head pounded after being tossed like a rag doll. A vision passed her mind that was so vivid. A Duros bounty hunter stood tall over two figures. One with a burning hole in their chest and the other looked like they were in a deep sleep.
"Ryki wake up!" Echo shook her shoulders. Green eyes burst to life as she began to frantically claw at his hands. "Hey hey! Calm down." Ryki shook her head in dismay "No. Omega...Hunter they.." The pounding came back to her head but she quickly shook it off. "What's wrong with them?" Tech slowly helped her up. "I-I had a vision, I think-I think Omega and Hunter are in trouble." She squeezed her eyes in pain and groaned, "We need to get to them."
---
"Hunter!" "HUNTER!"
"Where's Omega?"
"GET THE JEDI!"
"He's been shot in the chest plate."
"The wound doesn't look too deep."
"We need to get him on board!"
Hunter was yanked into the Marauder. "Tech get this ship flying now!" Wrecker demanded while he shot back the Empire's pursuit. The Marauder took flight and they began to manoeuvre through the shoot out. Not even five minutes in the air and the Bad Batch was already taking fire from Crosshair, who was more than determined to ground the Havoc Marauder.
"Hold the ship steady!" Ryki shouted out to the cockpit. "In our current situation that is impossible." Tech retorted. Ryki grumbled as she tried to steady herself and Hunter from falling all over the ship. Nimble fingers quickly worked Hunter's top part of his armour. "This is going to hurt a tiny bit." Ryki pushed a needle into Hunter's neck administering a numbing agent. The Marauder screamed through the sky taking several blaster bolts to the exterior hull. "Are you trying to get us killed? Shoot back Wrecker!" It was hard enough for Ryki to keep up with Tech's and Echo's loop-de-loop flying style and wrapping up and inspecting the Sargent's chest.
Hunter moaned in pain as the ship jostled again. "Alright, the wound isn't too deep. I just need to wrap your chest and we're done." Ryki told no one in particular. Patting his tattooed check several times, she brought Hunter to a more stable condition, "Sargent, can you hear me?" Hunter squinted his eyes and giddily shook his head, "Yeah. Yeah, I'm alright."
---
Never had the Marauder been so quiet. Too quiet.
"Echo, can you get any trace on Omega?" Hunter pestered. "Negative. We...lost trace" Even Echo could not get a full sentence out without the obvious strain he had in his voice. Omega's kidnap by the bounty hunter Cad Bane had begun to eat at everyone, Hunter especially. They tried to contact Cid but she wasn't much help.
"Ryki, you said you sensed that Hunter and Omega were in trouble prior to the scene taking place," Tech asked out of nowhere. Suddenly all eyes were on her, she gulped nervously "I did. Why?" He thought for a moment before turning his full attention to her, "Could you focus your Force abilities to sense her?"
Regretfully she shook her head. This new outburst in the Force was confusing to her just as much the concept of the Force was foreign to anyone who was not Jedi or Sith. "You mean, you can sense danger and force push troopers of platforms but not sense a kid?"
"Wrecker, what do you mean force push?" Hunter perked his head up.
"Oh yes. We failed to mention that In the stressful events of escaping Bracca, Ryki manifested a force push and managed to push several troopers of the platform." Tech adjusted his glasses, speaking as if he was the professional on the subject. "It is a high possibility that the Empire has already mistaken her abilities as to the Jedi's."
Something shifted in Hunter's face. Anger, frustration? "You can force push Imperials but not locate a young girl lost in space?" Ryki's brows furrowed "What is that supposed to mean?". Although Hunter was in a weakened state, his voice could not have been more intimidating "You just endangered everyone on this ship by exposing your abilities but you can't do something as simple as finding Omega with the force?"
"Wha-Well, sorry for assisting in our escape!" The mirialan's voice rose a tone higher. "I didn't know what I was doing. It just happened!". Hunter scoffed "You just had to warn us at the last minute. Had it been a little earlier Omega would have been safe." Her patience was wearing thin, "You think I can control this... whatever is happening to me? Hunter, I haven't the slightest idea of what's happening to me! You can't blame me!"
"I wouldn't be surprised if you were actually working with the bounty hunter."
"Hunter, cut it out!" Wrecker scolded.
"Now, Hunter, we should not jump to conclusions. Blaming one another is not going to help our situation." Echo tried to be cooler of the three heads. Tech and Wrecker seemed a little uncomfortable with the current situation. "Really? You're backing her up?" the Sargent was furious.
Tech tried to calm his brother down, "Hunter, you have been shot in the chest. You're still in shock and you're not thinking straight. It isn't anyone fault."
"Well, we would not be in this mess if Ryki had been more efficient!" Ryki threw her hands up and her voice held nothing short of anger, "How efficiently do you want me to be? It's not like I understand this thing that's happening to me! You'd think I'd let Omega get hurt intentionally?"
Wrecker began to look worried as the situation escalated for the worst. "What about you? If you hadn't got shot at Omega would still be here!" She spat venom.
Hunter's voice was low and dangerous "Because of you Omega's captured, because of you the Empire now thinks we're travelling with a Jedi. If I knew you were force-sensitive I wouldn't have taken you into our crew. You don't even deserve the Force."
"I DIDN'T ASK TO BE BORN WITH IT!"
If looks could kill, Hunter would already be dead. Ryki glared at him and only him. That last sentence full of spite stabbed a part of his soul and made it hurt unexpectantly, for her. Suddenly, he felt regret. The other three batchers watched silently.
"I.. didn't ask to be born with the force. I didn't want to because it's brought nothing but misery to my life. Sorry, it brought misery to yours" Shuddering breaths escaped her lips. Ryki blinked herself back to some reality, tearing her eyes from the man in front of her. "I need to be alone." She told no one in particular before shoving past Wrecker and disappeared deeper into the ship.
Hunter felt a pang in his heart as Ryki walked past him. He wanted to call out to her but she was too angry to even look at him. "What was that all about?!" Wrecker whispered and glared at his brother. "It was not her fault."
Hunter defeatedly leaned back on the seat, mumbling a small 'I know'. "You shouldn't have blamed Ryki for that. What were you thinking? If she hadn't warned us, even at the last minute you could have been killed!"
The Sargent ran a hand across his face at Echo's remark. Regret had seemed to settle in. "I'm just stressed alright! We just lost Omega and we promised her she would not get hurt."
"And you think we're happy about that? Do you think she's happy about that?"
"I just... look I'm sorry alright. I regret saying that to her and blaming her."
Tech shook his head. "Yes, we know and we forgive you. But you should be apologizing to her, not us." Wrecker and Echo nodded in agreement. "Now that we've- most of us, have cleared that up we need to focus on finding Omega. Keep the comm channels open in case she contacts us. We could lock on to her coordinates."
Echo and Tech resumed their work in the cockpit. Wrecker went to join them before stopping in front of his brother. "Not cool Hunter."
---
It was three hours in hyperspace and the boys had no luck in finding their lost Batcher. Tech did some research and found out that Omega's origins, although a clone had unaltered genes o of their donor along with another clone nicknamed Boba Fett. The unaltered genes made them more valuable to the Kaminoas as their genes could be used to create a whole new breed of clones.
Hunter was wrecking his brain after staring at the holo-maps. Aside from that his pain medication begun to wear off. Rubbing his tattooed face, he forced himself off his chair to meet a certain brooding mirialan.
Shuffling slowly deeper into the ships hull, he pushed aside the curtain partition that Wrecker set up for their newest member of the Batch. Ryki was grumbling away and taking out some of her pent up anger by concocting her medicines, muttering away under her breath about insubordinate plebes and broody men. The Sargent was unfortunate enough to find his little green friend in the middle of her ranting found it quite amusing her ways to deal with her own frustration.
"Mhmm." He cleared his throat. Ryki's hand froze for a moment before returning to their medicinal duties. Raising his eyebrows, he cautiously walked into her room and sat at the furthest chair away from her. Hunter carefully eyed her work and noticed at least twenty bottles of weird looking liquid, no doubt her medicine, already created. The pain began to sting in his chest and he held his wound lightly. He cleared his throat again but the mirialan was headstrong and stubborn. The Sargent waited for a minute before giving up. "Ryki-"
"What do you want?" Ryki snapped back. "Uhm, I think the pain medicine is wearing off. Do you have another dose or..." Hunter trailed of as Ryki wordlessly extracted some liquid into a syringe and went to stand in front of him. He'd have to admit that seeing Ryki with hooded green emerald eyes staring right into his soul with burning anger made him scared. He was about to speak when the mirialan gripped his chin, effectively shutting him up, tilted his head and injected the pain suppresser into his neck. "Ouch! Could you give me a heads up before that?" He rubbed his neck. Ryki stared at him blankly before shrugging.
She resumed her medicine making. Hunter remained in his seat, "Is that all?"
Ryki tilted her head slightly, "This dose will last one standard rotation, you will be fine." Then she swung in her seat to face Hunter, wearing a forced smile on her face "Just rest and stop starring at the screen for another three hours and you will feel more alive than you had since... well since whenever."
Pressing his lips into a thin line he watched her with wide eyes. "Alright..." He nodded his head slowly. Ryki copied his reaction and nodded once before the two were seated in awkward silence. "I'm going to go..-" Ryki nodded quickly, "Goodbye Sargent." She stood up and pushed Hunter out of her room. The mirialan was half-aware that she just pushed Hunter out of her room and now more aware that she literally gripped his chin and tilted his head to give him a medicine shot. She plopped into her chair and ran her hand through her thick hair, grumbling about stupid life decisions.
'What just happened?' Hunter thought in his mind. Then it hit him, Ryki called him Sargent instead of his name. Furrowing his eyebrows he mulled over the fact. "Sargent?" he whispered. It annoyed him more when it bothered him that Ryki just called him Sargent, so distant and so formal, unlike the dry humoured mirialan he met the first round. Shaking his head, he snapped from his thoughts. He shouldn't be bothered by this, right? It should not, he debated, but why did it make him uncomfortable.
"No. No. Don't get into that thought." He self scolded and walked to his room. Only to briskly walk back into the opposite room "Ryki?" He huffed. "H-Hunter? What's wrong?" Ryki instinctively began to check Hunter for other wounds she might have missed. "Are you hurt?" Hunter gripped her shoulders gently and pushed her into her room, "Is it Omega? You found her?" When Hunter didn't answer her she began to make random guesses, "Is Wrecker alright? Tech? Does Echo need adjustments to his mechanical hand?"
"No no, just.." Hunter shook his head and helped the jumpy female to settle in her seat, neither aware of Hunter's hands still on her shoulders. She was about to bombard him with more questions but he cut her off. "I'm sorry. For earlier." Ryki paused mid-rant. Hunter gulped and adjusted himself to a kneeling position. "I'm sorry." He repeated softly. "I shouldn't have blamed you about Omega and the Force, I just... Ryki I'm scared and worried I'll never see Omega again."
The mirialan was speechless. Her features softened "Hunter I... I'm so sorry." She wanted to apologize more but in reality, she was worried for Omega too. Who wouldn't? "I know how you feel. And I should have tried to use the Force earlier.." She trailed off and hung her head. "Don't pressure yourself. You're new to the Force and I don't actually understand it so I have no place to judge you about it." Hunter's hands fell to Ryki's arms, giving her a little comforting squeeze. "I'm sorry for shouting at you." Ryki relaxed into her seat and managed to meet Hunter's gaze. "I'm sorry too." She smiled weakly, touching Hunter's elbow to pass her point. "We'll find Omega. You'll see." She promised him. The Sargent smiled softly and whispered a thank you.
Ryki smirked and chuckled, shaking her head. Hunter felt like a huge weight was lifted off his shoulders so his arms further relaxed and trailed to Ryki's hands. Though none of them happened to realize it, yet. "You sure your wound are okay? I can check them." Hunter smiled and shook his head, "I'm alright." Two of them were now wearing warm smiles and happily gazing into each other's eyes. That was until Tech decided to roar across the ship. "We found Omega!"
Forgetting that his hands were still gripping onto Ryki's Hunter shot up and pulled the mirialan with him. She fell onto his chest and then the shock settled in. She looked up to Hunter only to meet his face so close to hers. Their faces burned. "HUNTER!" The sargent snapped back to reality at Tech's urgent shout. "Sorry" he mumbled shyly. Ryki tried to push him off and run to the cockpit only to be yanked back to Hunter's chest. Hunter was still holding on to her wrist "Uhm Hunter? Hands?" She raised their hands into the space between them shyly. "Oh right! So sorry." Hunter released his grip and the two ran to meet Tech, Wrecker and Echo. Hunter still processing the warmth he felt from holding Ryki's hands.
---
"We intercepted a comm channel from Omega. I've tracked it to Bora Vio." Echo tried to maintain their connection to Omega. "How long till we get there?" Hunter asked, appearing behind Ryki. "We are exiting hyperspace now!" Tech informed. Ryki braced herself as the Marauder shot out of hyperspace. The planet appeared before them and Tech dove right into the atmosphere. "Omega! Omega do you read me?" Echo called but only received static feedback. "I'm scanning an escape pod on my scope," Tech said. Wrecker locked into the pod's coordinates to track it and Tech flew the ship to catch up with it. "Hang on!" Ryki dug her nails into Tech's seat as the ship was brought to a sharp turn then began to dive almost vertically.
Hunter shifted closer to Ryki, peering over her shoulder. "There!" two hands pointed out the window as they saw a pod descending quickly towards the planet's surface. Tech pulled on the controls and increased the ships speed. Ryki was losing her balance and bumped into Hunter. "Hold on tight!" He steadied her. Tech took one final dive and activated the ship's magnetism to catch the pod. They blasted back to space. Wrecker ran over to the hatch on the Marauder's floor. "Kid? You're in there?". The others gathered around the hatch anxiously. Wrecker dipped his hand into the pod and pulled the blonde clone out. Audible sighs we're heard once they saw Omega. The child began to cry and Wrecker pulled her into a comforting hug. She then saw Hunter and leaned into him for a hug. "Why is this happening to me?" She cried.
"We have to tell her Hunter." Echo regretfully said. Omega look unsure, "Tell me what?" Hunter kneeled to her height "Omega, the Kaminoans want you because you're more special than us. Than any of us." He gestured to his brothers. Omega's cuffs were taken off and the boys smothered her with care and comfort.
---
Omega sat in her room, her head being tilted gently as Ryki applied some disinfectant to the small scratches on her face. "You alright?" Ryki asked. Omega sniffled and nodded. "Hey, come here." Omega shuffled to Ryki's side, curling into her body as Ryki leaned back on the wall. "Your safe now. you know your brothers won't let anything happen to you, right," She gently patted the blonde's hair, shushing her tiny sobs. Omega nodded into Ryki's chest, clutching onto her clothes. "They were really worried today." She tightened her hold on Omega. "They never gave up on you."
After consoling Omega, Ryki let her try to get some sleep. The boys have gone to sleep all except Hunter who sat at a table in the belly of the ship "How is she?" He asked when Ryki entered. Running her fingers through her messy hair, "Minor scratches, nothing permanent. I'm just worried about her mental wellbeing." She said as she joined him at the table. "She might get nightmares." "Thanks for taking care of her." Hunter nudged her foot lightly then smiled to himself. "She likes you."
"Really? I never pegged myself for a children person."
Hunter smirked "We learn new things about ourselves every day." Ryki hummed in agreement before letting out a yawn. "Get some sleep. We've had a long day." Hunter told her gently. Ryki nodded before making her way to her room. "Your wound okay? Need extra medicine?" Hunter shook his head, some strands of hair falling over his face, "I'm good." Ryki smiled and nodded.
"Hunter?" His head perked and he hummed. "The Empire's going to send more people after us aren't they?" Hunter then remembered that the Imperials have seen Ryki use the Force and probably have mistaken her as a Jedi. Ryki took Hunter's silence as a confirmation. She turned wordlessly to leave. "We will protect you Ryki. Don't doubt it. I will protect you. I will protect you and Omega. Your part of our squad now."
The mirialan's eyes softened. "Thank you, Hunter."

-Kamino-
Tarkin stood overlooking the raging ocean and the LAAT's that constantly flew through the thick clouds to the stay destroyers. "I assume the rogue clones have escaped."
"We lost them when the ion cannons exploded. However, they are still alive."
Tarkin hummed then turned to face the commander. "We need to increase our efforts to track and hunt down these criminals for the good of the Empire. See to it that your squad doesn't fail the next time."
"There is another member in their squad. A Jedi." Tarkin's eyes narrowed. The commander walked forwards and plugged in a data cylinder to Tarkin's table. A blue holo popped up, showing the Bad Batchers escaping the Empire. Tarkin noticed a certain mirialan woman sending the troopers flying backwards by one switch movement of her hand.
"Are you certain?" The commander nodded. Tarkin stroked his chin, "This development will be brought to the Emperor's notice. Well done commander. Continue your efforts and hunt these rebels down."
"Yes, sir." Crosshair's snakey voice replied.

-Coruscant-
"I sense a disturbance in the Force." The Emperor's sickly voice echoed in the throne room.
Tarkin nodded. "Sightings of the Jedi have been confirmed. A mirialan woman is travelling with a squad of deviant rogue clones. My personal forces are seeing to the elimination of the squad and the Jedi."
The Emperor laughed "She is not a Jedi but a Force-sensitive individual, Moff Tarkin. See to her live capture and sent her directly to me. She will be our first member of the Inquisitorius Program."
"It will be done, my Lord."

Just a small thought...
I just realized that Star Wars fanfictions are basically Star Wars alternate universes..... It's like we just created multiple Star Wars multiverses
