Prologue

My heart pounded frantically as I watched the man who had just saved my life, slowly take my hand and support my weight with his.

The light from the nearby lamppost surrounded us in an orange halo, pushing the darkness into an oblivion.

'Thank you.' I breathed shakily as I stared up into the handsome stranger's eyes. They were a dark brown.

Something about them did things to me.

There was a small pause.

He seemed familiar. As I searched my mind as to where I could have seen him before, I suddenly remembered: I'd seen him at the club.

'It is my pleasure.' He said. His voice was smooth like the material of my dress.

I held out my hand. 'Lola.' I told him with a small smile. 'Lola Vera.'

The handsome stranger beamed at me before taking my hand, squeezing it gently.

Sparks flew across my skin.

'Dante.'
