May pulled out her phone and sent one quick text to Jongho. "I'm coming." She paused as her hands continued to shake and she watched as droplets of blood fell on them.
Deep down, she had known something was wrong all along, she just didn't know what to do about it. The fact that he had found a way to drug or poison her didn't surprise her, but she was so scared about what would happen now.
She took Joe's car back to the airport, using a bathroom in the garage to clean herself up. It wasn't until she was seated on the plane and they were halfway over the ocean that the paid started. Her stomach hurt and she felt clammy. Fuck... she stood and made her way to the bathroom to splash some water on her face.
---
Jongho paced in front of the arrival gate. He had been there for an hour already, but it was too hard for him to wait at home. It had only been a couple days, but he had felt so incredibly empty without May. He had tried to ask her if she was ok, but all she had done was send him her flight information.
Hongjoong and Yeosang sat nearby watching their friend with a slightly amused expression.
The youngest glanced at the board listing her flight again. It showed she had landed about ten minutes ago. He turned to the doors as a large crowd started to file through. The other two came to join him.
Jongho felt his stomach lurch when he saw her, but not in a good way.
May was walking slow, holding her stomach. Her skin was white and there were a few blood stains on her shirt. But her eyes did light up a little bit when he ran to her and she tried to pick up her pace.
He slowed when he got close to her, afraid to hurt her, but he still pulled her into his arms. "What's wrong? What happened?"
May leaned her head against his shoulder. "I did it. It's done. Take me home, baby." Her voice waivered as a new wave of pain ran through her.
Jongho picked her up and ran from the airport, the other two following silently behind him.
Hongjoong jumped in the driver seat and sped away, Yeosang sitting next to him but turning to face the couple in the back.
Jongho had May cradled against him.
She loved how good his arms felt around her. Turning her head a little, she breathed him in and nuzzled her nose against his chest. "I missed you." She whispered.
"I missed you too." He kissed the top of her head. "May... What happened?"
May sighed, knowing she couldn't avoid it anymore. She told them what happened when she got to the compound, leaving out the messier details, but that she had killed Joe and her old boss. Then she told them about the other secret with the device she used to wear. She could feel Jongho shaking under her and Yeosang had tears rolling down his cheeks.
"I'm going to fight through it. I've been through too much to give up now." She said quietly.
"And we will help you through it." Yeosang reached back and took her hand while Jongho buried his nose in her hair, kissing the top of her head repeatedly.
"You're not alone." Hongjoong said.
"I know." May smiled and closed her eyes.

Fighting was harder than she thought it would be. Her body was betraying her every second it could. She could barely eat or drink anything and she had a constant fever. Cold sweats also came and went. Coughing, bloody noses, and blackouts just added to the mix.
The boys were amazing. They always made sure she had fresh water and clean, dry, and warm blankets.
Jongho never left her side. He pressed warm washcloths to her head when her cold sweats came, singing softly to her to try and comfort her. He barely slept; too afraid he would miss something in the middle of the night.
May could feel herself losing the fight... There were long periods of time that she couldn't find the strength to open her eyes. She knew she wasn't going to last much longer if she could get nutrients in her system. There were only a few occasions where she could keep part of a banana down, but most of the time she threw it up a few moments later.
After about a week, Seonghwa finally gave in and called for an ambulance. They rushed her to the hospital and got her hooked up to an IV to get fluids into her system.
The nurses expressed their concerns to the boys, saying she was incredibly weak, and that they needed to prepare themselves for the worst.
They leaned on each other for strength and disobeyed the nurse's recommendations of giving her time to rest by setting up in her room. None of them wanted to leave her alone.
May loved that they were there and did her best to put on a good face for them. She was able to hold weak conversations with them when she managed to stay awake. Her biggest comfort was Jongho, who had immediately crawled into her bed with her.
She was forced to stay on her back so that her IV didn't shift, but that didn't stop him from laying next to her, his head on his arm and his hand rubbing her head, the other hand wrapped around her waist.
"Please don't leave me." He whispered into her ear that night when the others were asleep. "Please."
May shifted her head to face him and smiled. "I love you." Her voice was weak. The machine next to her beeped slower.
"I love you too," Jongho said through his tears. He wanted nothing more than to tighten his hold on her, but she was so weak he thought he might snap her in half.
The machine let out a long, continuous beep.
