Chapter 28 ~ Follow Me

Tyler POV:

I'd never had so much hate for a person.
I never liked Z in the first place... But now...
Laying down, looking up at the ceiling, I blinked back tears.
Craig was beside me comforting me.
Why was he?
He had nothing to do with it.
The person he'd loved hadn't been killed.
"Tyler." He whispered, holding my hand.
"Yes?" I asked back, breathlessly.
"I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry."
I closed my eyes.
"I'm sorry, too."
"I can't believe she did it." I could breathe. I was gasping for air.
"I know, Ty. Neither can I." He said.
My heart had been crushed.
Z... She angered me.
I wanted her to burn in the deepest pits of hell.

It was a couple of weeks ago. Maybe a month or two before Calibre "died."
I was heading over to camp.
This camp, of course.
That was when a Firehawk encountered me.
It was considered casual then; the War technically had not started.
"Wildcat."
It was considered casual then; the War technically had not started.
It was Luke.
Luke is one of my best friends.
He was Delirious' most trusted friend.
He was once a part of our gang, but he was exiled by Evan after blowing cover and trying to take Del from him.
Regardless of him joining the gang against us, he still continued seeing me every now and then, like normal friends would do. He even came over to my house a few times.
And this time, he had news.
"Tyler, listen..."
I looked up at him.
"Yes?"
"I have bad news."
I looked at him.
"Wh-what's wrong?" I asked.
He was crying.
"Your dad. Z. She got to him."
I was in shock.
"What the hell? You're lying." I said, my hands balled into fists.
He shook his head.
"She killed him. If you don't believe us, we found his dead b-" Luke continued.
I shook my head, tears falling.
"No. I believe you."
"Don't tell on her. It'll only give Evan more reason to hate you, he'll think you're lying."
He's right.
"What do I do then?" I asked, still crying, but I wiped the tears away.
"Wait for the moment. Then we'll take her down together. Deal?" He asked.
I nodded.
"Deal."
I'd take away everything she loved.
So I decided to lie about Calibre.
She took away my family.
The day before yesterday was even more horrible.
We met in secret, and that was when he told me that Z had killed the very girl that I had loved with all my heart.
Luke informed me that Z had murdered Kelly.
She was taking everything from me.
"Craig." I whispered again.
"Yes?"
"I want you to help me kill her." I said.
He nodded.
"Anything for you, my love."

Z POV:

What's going on?
What's happening to our family?
Why had Tanner given in?
And why is Tyler acting like this?
What does he mean I took everything away from him??
I was running now, breathing and gasping for air, crying and screaming internally.
This isn't supposed to happy.
This is what I saw.
This is what happened in my dream.
"No, no, no, no, no, NO. NO!" I yelled, now in front of an old abandoned shed.
People are here now.
People could see me.
And I didn't care.
With it being night time, I'd be hard to see.
But I can easily run in front of a car and either 1) die or 2) get arrested.
I was thinking over my options.
I sprinted into the forest again.
I'd covered about five miles in two hours.
That's slower than what I usually go, but I guess it was the sadness making me hover and slow down.
I suddenly saw a car across the road and I ran to it, jumping in front of it.
The driver hit the brakes and stopped inches in front of me.
"Hello, miss?" He asked.
I was silent, a deer caught in the headlights.
"Can I help you? Do you need a ride?"
A man stepped out. He had medium lengthed blonde hair and brown eyes.
"Miss?" He put a hand on my shoulder.
I slapped his hand back and he looked stunned.
I stumbled backwards.
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." I said, snapping out of the daze.
"No, it's fine. What are you doing out here? It's the middle of no-where. You're a lady. And you should be more careful, there are some bad people out here." He told me.
I laughed.
"What are you laughing at?" He asked, grinning.
"What do you mean, bad people?" I asked, laughing.
"Psychos and monsters." He said.
I looked at him.
"Yes, but you forgot 'murderers.' " I said, grinning.
He looked at me.
"Exactly. That's why you don't belong out here. They're horrible people." He said.
I smiled.
"You made a mistake. I'm one of them. And do I seem like a bad person to you?" I asked.
He stumbled back.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, I kill people. I put them to sleep. The bad ones. So I guess that makes me a bad person, since I murder people. I only keep them from murdering more of them. You should arrest me." I told him.
He looked at me.
Then he calmed.
"You're a murderer?"
I nodded.
"A sweet, innocent young lady like you?" He asked.
"Yes. I may be a young lady." I told him.
"But I'm sure as hell not innocent or sweet."
He smiled.
"I don't believe you."
I told out my gun.
"Whoa. Now I do." He said, his hands up.
"That's all we're called. Bad. Monsters. Psychopaths..." I said.
He looked at me.
"But psychopaths aren't aware of other people's pain, are they? I'm not crazy, in fact, I'm the opposite. Not only do I see people's pain..."
His eyes were looking directly into mine as I put away my gun.
"But I bathe in it. I'm happy about it. Until I'm alone. Then I start thinking, you know, they had a life. They had a shelter, a pet. A place to go home to, a place for their future children. But I don't have any of that. But I want it. And you people have no fucking clue what you have until I'm leaning over you, with a knife in my hand, making you beg for every little moment, every little millisecond of your life to be spared, when really, we all deserve to die. We don't have a purpose. We were put here to ruin this Earth. And until then, I'm trying to make it a better place. You people shame us and then forget about these crimes that they commit. You let them rot in jail? A rapist isn't hung? A murderer who kills the innocent, he only serves his life in prison, but he is still alive, isn't he? Nobody cares. But us. We're the monsters. We get punished for our crimes. We get told that we do wrong. So I want you, sir, to look me in the eyes and tell me..."
I grabbed him by the collar and made sure he saw my golden eyes.
"Who's really the monster here?"
He looked at me.
"Who are you? And why are you alone out here?"
"Z. Why I'm alone? Well, just like you, my friend..."
He was confused.
"I've lost a family, but I'm trying to keep another one. "
He stepped back.
"How do you know that?"
"Broke into the police station, stole some records for my co-leader, Jon. Luckily, I came across your's."
I said to him, remembering the day Evan wanted me to find out if any of his records contain the smallest indication of where we may be located.
"You're lying." He shook his head.
I looked at him.
"Why would I lie, Markis?" I asked.
He was astonished.
"Markis Threads. Former wife, Rose Threads. You had a daughter, Cameryn. She died March 13th from an unexpected kidnapping. Your son, Tristan, died from a school shooting. You're damaged. And you want revenge." I told him.
"How do you know all this?" He shook his head, his eyes tearing up.
"You've been trying to have a child since, but she only miscarried due to stress. Whenever she finally got pregnant again, she does giving birth. I'm sorry. Truly tragic." I said, sympathizing his condition.
He looked at me.
"You're right. I do want revenge."
I nodded.
"That's why you're going to follow me."
