Chapter 27 ~ I'm Dissapointed
Z POV:
Memories still haunt me from that day.
The day of war.
It had finally come, and regardless of the years and years dedicated to training, we weren't ready.
The others aren't here to tell this story any longer.
It's all up to me.
I'm all alone.
But that's just how my story ends.
And why am I so happy about being alone?
I'm not.
But they're happy.
So I'm happy.
Regardless of our stories ending on different pages.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Evan POV:
A new baby girl.
"Marzia, what are you going to name her?" I'd asked.
She smiled.
"Presley."
I grinned.
"That is a beautiful name." Delirious said, behind me.
Z walked in, clipping her katana to her belt.
She looked over and saw the small pink newborn with its eyes closed and almost dropped her weapon.
She smiled and walked over.
Marzia grinned as wide as she possibly could.
"Baby Presley."
Z was frozen now, a look that was a mix of happiness and worry etched into her face.
She tossed her katana down at last, and reached for the baby.
But for some reason, she kept stopping.
"Z? Is something wrong?" I asked her.
She shook her head.
"No. Nothing is wrong." she answered.
But I wasn't convinced.
I dropped the matter for her sake though.
Z POV:
Presley.
What an adorable name.
But what would we do with the baby after the war?
Surely we can't just get rid of it.
We have to do something.
I can be the only one to remember, nobody else.
I wouldn't permit it.
Only I can handle the pain...
I don't want anyone else to suffer.
I'd get over it.
But the baby wouldn't remember, would she?
I don't think so.
I couldn't clear her memory... She was a baby.
I don't want to know what could happen to her.
An adult would be able to rehabilitate itself... But a baby?
I pondered the idea.
I was in my room now, straightening my sleeves.
I looked in the mirror.
I almost fell backwards.
A bright flash of light sent me stumbling until I jumped back up and pulled out my gun.
But it was nothing.
Then I looked closer.
Instead of my wild reflection staring back at me, my face covered in dirt and my clothes ripped and torn underneath my armor and weapon supply- there was a girl.
"Oh my God. I'm so sorry." I said, putting my weapons away.
Then I realized that I wasn't actually talking to my sister at all, it was just a mirror.
I had freaked out and pointed a gun at the mirror.
I stood up and walked over to the mirror, looking at it.
She had a pale face with red lipstick on. A white daisy was tucked behind her ear and she was smiling, her brownish-red eyes (it ran in the family), reflecting mounds of joy.
I grinned.
But then I realized that I forgot what she exactly looked like; this wasn't her.
No. Not at all.
Her hair was more... Golden.
And her eyes were more brown and she didn't wear lipstick, regardless of her desire to look elegant.
She smiled wider and she was always covered in bruises and scrapes.
She was afraid of mirrors, so she didn't look into them.
I forgot my own sister!
No!
How could I?!
I almost screamed, but a knock ran out on my door.
"Yes?" I asked.
"It's Evan," He said.
"Let me in."
I walked over and opened the door.
Delirious was right behind him, never far behind.
They were like magnets.
They always moved in one, single, individual unit.
"Z, I need you to do something." Evan said.
"Yes, Master?" I asked.
"No. Not 'Master.' Don't call me that, I've never ordered you guys to. I'm still Evan, your good old friend, Evan." He said.
Delirious nodded.
"Anyways, we need you to go with Tanner and Daithi to check out their camp. Bring Tyler, too. The Firehawks are going to be tough to beat. We at least need to know the size of their army." He said.
I sighed.
"Okay."
"Thank you." Delirious said, smiling.
I'd never been too close to Delirious.
He's always been more of the nervous, quiet one.
He loved us all unconditionally though.
We all did.
I hugged the two of them and headed out to the lobby.
Tanner and Daithi were waiting for me out in the lobby.
Tyler came in, soon, too.
Mini was still asleep, so he couldn't tag along.
We soon headed outside and gathered around.
"Okay. Listen, here's what we're gonna do..." I said.
"Excuse me? Since when do you give orders?" Tyler said.
I looked at him.
"Since I'm not a peasant like you, I get to give out commands. Wanna die? Go ahead. But there's one reason I am here, Princess..." I said, holding out a rope to him.
"I'm here to kill enemies. Not tolerate them."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Pull me up. Now." I demanded.
"Yeah, yeah, don't get your panties in a wad." Tyler said, grabbing me by my arms and hoisting me up, just grazing my breast.
"Watch where your hands go, buddy. Before you lose them." I said, standing up and brushing off.
"Now get Tanner and Daithi up here, Big Boy." I said.
He nodded and I grabbed my binoculars.
Once everyone was up there, I had found the entrance.
"A secret wall, in the middle of a deserted field," I smirked.
"How clever."
"Holy shit. They built a wall?" Daithi asked.
I nodded.
"It'll be fun getting over that."
"We won't have to." Tanner said.
She pointed to a nearby rock formation.
"If we climb on top of that, I'm sure one or two of us would be able to see. We could see how large their recruits are, then leave."
I smiled and my mother.
"Okay," I said, putting my binoculars away.
"Let's go."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Ouch! Daithi! Dude, that's my arm!" I yelled at him as he pulled me up.
We were the two who would observe their army, since Nogla is amazing at observing things.
And me, well, I'm just Z.
That's pretty obvious why I should look.
"Hand me the binoculars." I said.
He patted his pockets and then shrugged.
"Where are they?" I asked.
"You have them." He said.
I groaned.
He started patting me, looking for them.
"HEY! Watch where your fingers go! That's the second time today!" I said, feeling Nogla touching my ass.
"Sorry. They're right here, in your back pocket..." He was red, embarrassed.
At least he had sympathy.
Tyler just used me like an object.
"It's okay, man. Let me see 'em." I said.
He handed them to me.
Holy shit.
What?
"Oh my God."
I almost tripped off that rock.
"What?"
"Don't need binoculars to see that."
I said.
"There army isn't as big as ours. We have like thirteen extra people." He said.
I shook my head.
"No, that's not what I'm worried about. I want you to look right there, right where I am pointing, and tell me what you see." I said.
My heart started beating.
Really fast.
Thump, thump, thump...
I couldn't believe it.
I wasn't dreaming.
He was here.
I was here.
Together.
Finally.
Once.
More.
Yes.
YES!
"HE'S HERE!" I almost screamed, tears rushing to my cheeks.
"Z! SHH!" Tanner warned me.
"LUI IS ALIVE! CALIBRE IS ALIVE! I KNEW IT! HE'S OKAY! HE'S- HE'S-"
I was sobbing, on my knees.
"On the other team." Daithi finished, his voice dull, lifeless.
Empty.
My heart then sank.
"He's... He's... Not with us?" I whispered.
Realization finally kicked in and all of my hope vanished.
Did he want to be with them?
Then I became angry.
I wanted to scream.
"TYLER!" I yelled, pulling out my katana.
I jumped down, ignoring the pain in my toe, and launched at him, but I was a little too late.
Tanner was pulling me backwards.
"You lied! YOU LIED! YOU SAID HE WAS DEAD! YOU CHECKED HIS PULSE! LIAR!!" I said, burning tears in my eyes.
"Z! STOP!" He said, trying to push me off.
"I HATE YOU! I LOVED HIM!! YOU MADE ME THINK HE WAS DEAD!!"
He pushed me off of him.
I was crying so hard that I became weak.
The katana fell right to the ground as I cried.
"Of course I lied," Tyler spit.
"I hate you. You made me lose who I loved. I repaid the favor. And if Nogla can't have him, nobody else will. You don't deserve him. You'll never be considered an assassin, Z. You're just a hateful girl using us to chase your dreams. But you won't have any soon. We'll all be dead. Rotting in the ground." Tyler was crying.
He was... Crying?
My heart was shattering.
Never in the whole world would I have expected any of Tyler's words to hurt me. But they had then.
"That's just what you want. For us not to remember." He looked at me and then started running away.
I was speechless.
Daithi POV:
And if Nogla can't have him, nobody else will.
Even Tyler's words damaged me.
At this point, I didn't know what to do.
Lui was the only person who made me happy like he did.
And no, he wasn't dead.
But he was on the other side.
And he knew it, too.
And he'd die on the other side.
Without his family.
He would rather die with enemies then with me.
Rejection seeped through me.
"I hate you, Lui Calibre. And that's a promise." I whispered.
As I did that, he looked up.
And I knew he saw me.
But he didn't say anything.
We stared for a long time.
He didn't warn anyone else, he just stared at me, his eyes full of regret or apologies.
I loved you. I mouthed.
I know, He seemed to mouth back.
But then he looked at me.
And with all the hope in the world, I wished he said this-
I've always loved you more.
That's what it looked like.
I almost passed out from happiness.
Regardless of Lui being in the other side, he still loves me.
He loved me.
And I loved him.
Even if we can't be together.
We would die together.
Unfulfilled love and passion.
I looked down at Z.
She was breaking now.
She'd snapped.
And a snapped Z isn't so good.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tanner POV:
"Calibre is alive."
Her dull voice silenced the rest of the family at dinner.
"Is that so?" Evan asked.
I nodded.
"She's right, Ev."
Mini was sitting across from me, in silence.
He was going to eat and then go back to his room with Ty.
The duo was angry at Z.
Especially Tyler.
Mini just followed along.
"He never died. Your assassin lied." Z said to him.
"Hmm. He lied?" Delirious asked.
"Yes. He checked his pulse. He lied and said that Calibre had passed. But he was alive. And the Firehawks found him. So now they have an extra teammate- because of Tyler." She said.
Poor Tyler.
"And why would he do that?" Evan asked.
"He wanted revenge against me. He said I took someone away from him. I'll find out soon enough." I said.
"Go retrieve Tyler." Evan demanded to Pewdiepie.
Pewds stood up and bowed, then ran and got Tyler.
Tyler walked in with Mini his elbow in his.
"Yes?" Tyler asked.
"Tyler, you have been accused of lying by Princess herself." Evan stated.
Mini and Tyler looked over to my daughter and chills ran up my spine.
The amount of hate between them made my blood run cold.
Z POV:
"Is this true?" Delirious asked him.
I smirked, looking Tyler directly in the eyes.
"Yes, it is." His eyes didn't move from mine.
"Do you know the punishment for lying? Treason?" He asked.
"Yes, I do."
"No. You're kidding." Tanner stood up, her chair squealing against the floor.
"Tanner, sit down." Evan demanded.
"Like hell I will. You are not touching him with that whip, Evan!" she almost screamed.
Evan looked at her.
"Usually, Tanner, I would abide by those rules. Usually I would ask for your decision. But it is not relevant. You are not second in command, my husband is. Not you. So I get to make the decisions. Tyler committed treason against a family member and we lost one of our best members because of it. He shall be punished. Whether you like it or not, assassin."
Tanner froze.
"WHAT? HOW DARE YOU! I WAS CO-LEADER OF THIS GANG! I WAS A LEADER! HE STRIPPED THAT OF ME!"
Tanner was acting highly unusual and it scared me.
I stood, too.
"TANNER, DO YOU WANT TO GET WHIPPED, TOO?" Evan stood, angrily.
"You aren't touching him with it. He doesn't deserve it. I don't deserve this." Tanner told him.
"He will be disciplined. Whether you like it or not, you have no say. You're a worker to us. You're replacable. If you do not like that, then leave." Evan said.
Tanner's mouth was wide open in shock.
"DON'T TALK TO HER LIKE THAT!" Nogla stood up.
"HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT TO HER??!" Luca stood up, accusing Evan.
"You are a guest. Don't tell us what we can and cannot do." Evan said to her.
Luca sat down.
"YOU'RE TEARING THIS FAMILY TO SHREDS, EVAN! HOW CAN YOU DO THIS?! YOU WONDER WHY WE DO NOT CALL YOU BY ANYTHING OTHER THAN MASTER AND THEN YOU DO THIS! YOU ARE THE TRAITOR EVAN! YOU HURT YOUR OWN FAMILY! YOU DONT SEE THAT BECAUSE YOU'RE SO BLINDED BY YOUR OWN ORDERS THAT YOU DON'T FUCKING CARE! THIS IS MY GANG, TOO, DONT YOU DARE THINK FOR A SECOND THAT HE WILL EVER CHANGE THAT! I WILL NEVER BE STRIPPED OF MY AUTHORITY. DO YOU UNDERSTAND? YOU WILL NOT WHIP HIM. DO YOU UNDERSTAND?!" Tanner yelled.
Everyone was speechless.
This was out of her vocabulary.
I've never seen her so loud or mad.
"Tyler, go back to your room, and Mini. You're excused."
Tanner became silent.
"As for you, Tanner." Evan finished.
I soon stood, outraged.
"I-Tanner-" My heart almost broke in half.
"No need to say anything else, Z," Tanner said, looking at me, her motherly eyes bloodshot from the tears.
"I'm dissapointed in you. In all of you."
