Game of my Guardians

Draco

Today was the first game of the Quidditch season. With Katie Bell out for who knows how long, it's almost been a month, Dean Thomas is in as her replacement. Such a shame, Bell was the better player. I actually liked her more than the other Gryffindors, sad I had to use her in my plan that epically failed.

I glanced back at my team. Everyone was dressed and looked ready to go, with the exception of our new keeper. I scowled at him. I can't believe he made the team. Urquhart pulled all of us aside to explain why.

Apparently Snape was watching tryouts and when Percy actually did really well, there was no way he couldn't say no. Also no one else tried out for keeper, so the position had to be given to Percy anyways. There was no way Percy was telling the truth when he said he's never been on a broom before.

At tryouts and practice, he would do these complex moves that were definitely not beginner level. His reaction timing would be incredibly fast and so far, no ones been able to score on him because he's saved them all. It's like he was meant to be a savior. Although he never looked down when he flew, only eye level and above.

I looked at Percy again. He was still changing. The pale scars on his body contrasting strongly against his tan skin. I saw it the first day when I was waiting on him to get ready. Not to mention when we removed his trousers and ended up with year long detentions. It wasn't abuse, not with Sirius Black, no way, but something happened to Percy.

The way he shifted so anxiously in the night when his cat was exploring and not with him. How he was always on guard, and up in the early mornings. When his cousins talked about or with him, there was always this protective aura about them. Like they were trying to prevent something else from happening to the boy.

"Are you ready yet?" Blaise asked Percy annoyed.

I realized I had looked away from him and was now staring at an empty space. When my vision returned to Percy, he was standing with his broom in hand, robes on, and cat on shoulder. I frowned and felt the displeasure of my housemates. Always that cat.

"Lets go." Percy prompted, starting to head to the field.

Immediately he was blocked by Blaise, Urquhart, and Vaisey. Crabbe, Goyle, and I came up behind him so when he tried to get some space he ran into us. His shoulders were tense, and his cat almost fell off. He eyed us all warily, facing no one in particular.

"Leave the cat here." Urquhart ordered him.

Percy scowled,"No. She's going to be at the game."

"Where?" Crabbe huffed.

"My cousin's will take care of her." Percy replied, bringing a hand up to pet said cat who purred happily.

Vaisey raised an eyebrow,"When will you have the time to give her to them."

Percy shrugged,"I'll just fly over and pass her off."

"No. You'll let a goal in." Urquhart argued,"She stays here."

Percy narrowed his eyes,"No. You can't stop me."

Urquhart glared at him, but with a nudge from Vaisey, they parted to let Percy through. Urquhart looked angry, but Vaisey's face was blank. Percy seemed surprised, and hesitantly walked through them. Blaise was just staring as Percy passed him. Once Percy's back was turned, in unison we all whipped out our wands and shot a stunning spell at him.

Jackson turned just in time to get hit by six spells. They hit him so hard, he flew into the wall, knocking things over. We all approached him, putting our wands away. He lay limp under multiple things. He groaned and his eyes fluttered open. I quickly snatched his cat from the ground and handed it to Goyle. The thing was clawing and growling.

Immediately Percy tried to get up to protest, but his body was still effected by the stunning spells. With so much magic, he could only let his head fall back in defeat, as he pathetically called out his cat's name, begging for us to let her go.

Goyle ran and locked her where we knew Percy wouldn't find her. Percy grew quiet as Goyle ran farther away. We all regarded him disgustedly. His breath rattled as he struggled to keep his composure. Urquhart approached Percy, gripping his wand tightly.

"We're going to revive you now. If you play the game and make sure we don't lose, you get the cat back." Urquhart bargained,"Understand?"

In response, Percy glared harshly at us,"Yes."

Vaisey pulled out his wand again and cast the counter spell. Before Percy could fully get up again, Blaise and Crabbe grabbed him by the biceps and slammed him into the wall. His head snapped against the concrete. Percy glared fiercely at all of us. Without a second to lose, the two holding him were cursed with locked legs by Percy.

Percy dropped to the ground, and stiffly grabbed his broom. He stalked out of the room, raising his middle finger as an insult. Anger erupted in me, but he was already outside so I couldn't do anything. I nodded when Goyle reappeared. I cast the counter curse on Blaise and Crabbe.

"Remember the plan." I reminded the team.

They all nodded, and we followed Percy out of the room. The game was against Gryffindor to start off the season. The rival houses, so it made sense, especially since there were only six games in the season.

The whistle blew and the game started. Immediately, I flew overhead the stadium, searching for the snitch. I spotted Potter, and felt in the mood to tease his wimpy self, but the plan was soon to be in motion.

I turned my head to look towards our three goals. Ginny Weasley was flying straight towards the middle hoop, and our team failed to stop her. I held my breath as she unexpectedly shot towards the left hoop.

"Merlin's beard!" I cursed.

Percy had jumped off of his broom, where he was stationed by the center hoop, and towards the left hoop. Percy's left hand snatched the ball out of the air, his right arm looping around the goal post to stop him from falling. Gasps sounded from the crowd at his amazing save.

No one jumps off of the broom, no one in their sane mind. I guess Percy took our threat seriously, and that his cat means a lot more to him than we realized. Oh the things we could do now that we knew. A little respect for him bloomed inside of me, and I almost felt bad for what was about to happen.

Percy had tossed the quaffle to Blaise, but it was quickly stolen from him by Demelza. Since Percy was still on the left hoop, and hanging onto the middle, she shot toward the right hoop. I couldn't believe it when Percy managed to leap onto his broom and zoom over in time to smack the ball away from the goal.

Vaisey grabbed it, and him along with all of the Gryffindors, save Potter, flew after him to the other side of the field. After twenty minutes of Percy's excellent saves, and Gryffindor's fail of scoring and protecting, we were winning.

Then it happened. Percy was looking towards the teachers stands, and Ginny Weasley scored the first goal for the Gryffindor team. Gryffindor's cheers filled my ears. I gritted my teeth, and I watched as Urquhart flew up to Percy furiously. Ref couldn't do anything because teammate to teammate, especially captain to teammate, there was no rule against that.

From the looks of it, he seemed to be yelling at Percy for his failure at saving the goal. Percy looked just as angry, but didn't open his mouth in retaliation. His fists were clenched tightly on his broom, and his jaw was snapped shut. His eyes were practically glowing in anger, and I was surprised they didn't pierce Urquhart in his head.

Percy recoiled on his broom as Urquhart harshly poked him in the chest, repeatedly. I smirked, that's what you get Jackson. The Gryffindors roared in approval as Dean scored another goal while Percy was being scolded.

Blaise stole the quaffle, flying by Percy to kick him in the back. Percy was pushed forward on his broom from the force, almost hitting Urquhart. I ignored the boos from the other houses. The whole Gryffindor team followed Blaise to their goal, so I gave the go to Crabbe and Goyle. They nodded, and went to their places.

"Time to say good night, Jackson." I stated grimly,"Should've stayed out of my way."

***Line Break***

Percy

"Keep your eye on the ball!" Urquhart ordered, getting ready to fly away.

Just before he turned, he raised his hand. I was steaming in anger and sinking in misery for Sally, so I didn't think about what Urquhart was about to do. Then his hand struck me across the face. Caught by surprise, I was almost knocked off of my broom by the strength of his hit.

I heard the other houses roar in what I didn't know, but I almost broke the wood of my broom in my anger. I kept my head down to keep myself from doing something I'd regret. I needed to see Sally again. I could feel myself shaking in fury, and put my forehead to the handle to calm myself.

When I raised my head, I spotted Ginny zooming to towards the middle post. Popping the cracks in my neck, I hopped off my broom and spun around it like I was a gymnast so I was on the outside and my broom was in the center. When I was facing the hoop, I let go and shot towards the middle of the center hoop.

I came in contact with the ball perfectly, and had it secured in my left arm. I reached out my right arm as I approached the center hoops bar. Right before my arm wrapped around it, a humongous force hit me in the side.

My aim went wild. I dropped the quaffle, and collided with the bar. My head slammed into the metal making my vision go black for a moment. A pounding headache sprouted in my brain, and I blindly grappled for something to hold onto as my body fell through the hoop.

When I came to, my right hand was the only thing keeping me from falling to the ground, I had it wrapped around the bar, holding onto it tightly. The rest of me dangled in the wind, and I looked around for help.

What I saw surprised me. The teachers stand was scattered as Crabbe hit a bludger toward the stand again, keeping them occupied. I had just turned my head, when the other bludger filled my vision. It caught me around my right leg and pelvic area.

I yelled in pain, struggling to bring my other hand to the bar. I spotted Goyle flying to where the bludger headed. I had to get on my broom before it could come back. Suddenly Vaisey rammed into my left side, making me lose my grip for a moment.

I gasped as panic went through me. I only had my fingers keeping me from falling. I glanced down, I was so high up. It was so high up. I felt the wind whipping through my robes, and the sound of it reminded me of Tartarus. This time I was alone hanging above the abyss of pain.

No! Now was not the time. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes briefly before opening them. I called upon my strength, because frankly, this headache that invaded my brain wasn't helping me concentrate on magic or powers. That bar probably gave me a concussion I concluded as sounds fell in and out.

I reached for the bar with my left hand. Almost there. My fingertips brushed against the metal just as it happened. I screamed as the bludger tore through my keeper brace. The hard ball flew straight into my right forearm. I heard the cracks as my arm shattered, and I lost my hold.

I fell. My legs flailed wildly in the wind, tangling with the robes. Gods I hate those things. I cradled my right arm to my chest as I fell. I didn't fall straight, I kept twisting and turning facing a different way every time. I closed my eyes in fear, darkness creeping into my conscious.

It was happening, I was falling to hell. I shouted even more, wishing someone would come save me from the fall. Save me from the pain. Save me from myself. A raw scream escaped my lips when the bludger came in contact with my chest. I heard more deafening cracks, this time coming from my ribs.

I felt myself being pushed towards the ground faster. With the vision I had, I could see gold robes flying as fast as they could towards me. There was no strips of green coming to my safety. How about the house of hell, how was I the Survivor of Slytherin again?

The other bludger left the teachers and collided with my left knee, knocking it out of its socket. Another shout of pain fell from my mouth and I could feel the ground coming closer. The bludger on my chest continued to guide my path towards inevitable agony. The other one not faulting in its goal of maiming my body.

I let my head fall back in defeat, and closed my eyes to block out all the confusing colors around me. My head pounded, and the world fell off around me. I faintly heard more screams as I fell, and I distinctly made out my cousins shouts. The last thing I heard was the announcers confirmation to the end of the game.

"MALFOY'S GOT THE SNITCH!" He shouted,"STOP THE GAME! CALL BACK THE BLUDGERS! SOMEONE HELP PERCY!"

Then I hit the ground. My eyes flew open as pain ran through my veins. My back arched as I screamed bloody murder, before it fell silently from my lips. Tears escaped my eyes as I cried in agony. Oh gods, it hurt so much.

I felt my bones shatter when I came in contact with the ground. I heard my body break, and I heard the panicked screams of the other houses. Then my body became numb. I couldn't move, I could only stare up at the sky as new faces filled my vision.

There you are Harry, I thought as his face popped in view. Hi Hermes. Hello Apollo. There's Ron, you're fast Hermione. Then Sirius' worried face entered my vision. I felt my face contract in confusion. What was he doing here? Probably watching my first game I thought amusedly, what a game.

Someone's hands cupped my head, supporting it. Sirius lips moved, but I couldn't hear him. A gurgled sound left my mouth as I tried to ask him what he was doing here. Blood fell from my lips, and I coughed in pain.

I couldn't breath. I kept trying to make the air fill my lungs, but it didn't work. My panicked eyes found my uncle's. I tried to tell him I couldn't get any air, but no sound was made. I cried out in strangled gasps.

I felt his hands shaking as he supported my body. I saw hints of black in my vision and knew I was losing the battle. I opened my mouth to tell him not to worry, but my eyes rolled into the back of my head. Then all I saw was darkness, reaping my body of the pain.

Tell me what you think...
